Love that carved maple top that isn't flashy. Natural grain, not flamed/bookmatched, and it sounds great. Getting one of these as soon as funds allow.

I just got mine yesterday and absolutely love it. The satin finish is nice looking to my eyes. I can't see paying double price for a Standard. The Tribute is every bit as good.

I like the weight relieved guitars. I'm not a fan of the wood satin finishes though but do prefer the glossy wood finishes over the solid painted versions. Thanks for sharing!

Just got mine today. Satin Iced Tea. Construction was flawless barring one issue. The fret ends at the last few frets where the neck joins the body could have used a little work. They aren't "cut your fingers" sharp, just not as nicely done as Gibson typically does. When building a guitar the details are the time consuming part, so obviously there's going to be a bit less attention to detail paid in certain areas to meet the price point. Easy to take care of. My case was black with a crinkled leather finish, and its a damn nice case. Ive owned two Gibsons in the past and this is as nice a looker and player as either of those. It may not be as pretty as higher end Gibbys, but I'm not gonna cry if this one gets a ding or two, either. By the way, the "poker chip" comes separate in the case, but is east to install if that's your thing. Also, on the Gibson website, the specs show that they come strung with 10s, not 9s.

that's too bad, but easy fix....mine came with perfect plek'd frets

I have this guitar. Been playing for over 30 years. It's a great guitar and the tone is awesome unless you're tone dead.

I am so torn at the moment. I want a wight relieved LP but I don't want to pay Studio prices. They look better with the gloss finish than the Tribute but the only other feature I am aware of is the coil split which I am not really bothered about. Hard to justify paying another $400 just for that.

David, what pots are in this? I've heard they use PCB's, is that true?
@guitarswithdavid44222 жыл бұрын
Yes, Gibson branded PCB system.

I have this guitar. My wife bought it for me a while ago. She looks and sounds great. Playability wise it's not so great. My Squier VM 70's Strat has action about half as high as the Gibson. ( and yes the LP was set up by a pro authorized Gibson tech). I do love it though.
@warrencon12 жыл бұрын
Action is adjustable. Most new guitars need a set up.
@Voxguitarsrock2 жыл бұрын
@@warrencon1 it's been professionally set up. 3 x . Action is still slide guitar height or she buzzes A LoT
@warrencon12 жыл бұрын
@@Voxguitarsrock one of those professionals should have told you what it needs. Maybe a new nut. Maybe some attention to the frets. You shouldn't have to pay to make it playable but it happens. It's worth it to have a functional guitar.

@@Voxguitarsrock take it back to an actual tech because that is not right. Mine has super low action!

They're still heavy! It wouldn't be a LP if it wasn't a little heavy.
@Anjohl2 жыл бұрын
I was surprised at how heavy it was!

Hey man. I'm thinking of upgrading from an epiphone standard pro to one of these. What are they like? Am I getting a solid machine? Is it as pure as a five thousand dollar standard? What's your opinions? Thank you.
@guitarswithdavid44223 жыл бұрын
I like and own Gibsons and Epiphones. When it comes to quality my most expensive Epiphone is not as good as my cheapest Gibson. Now other people may feel different and that’s fine, but my personal opinion is this Tribute is every bit of a work horse machine as my Gibson Standards. Go play one in a store before buying is what I always recommend 👍🏻

@@guitarswithdavid4422 Thank you very much for the information! I will do exactly that next time I get to one. Nearest one is 1 hour away from me! That's what happens when you live in the woods! Haha.

Just got a tribute but tbh i dont like it. Might just be me as been using fenders past few years i find it plays like a cheap guitar. Accoustically not very refined but plugged in is ok. Action way too low, but i adjusted that. Feels cheap compared to equivalent fender. Tele with cs pickups sounds better.

Look how sharp the fretboard edges are; smh

Not a single sharp fret end on this guitar. They are just shiny from being polished
