After letting the rest of the world have a taste of adventure scooter riding, Honda imports a smaller-displacement version of its rugged-looking ADV scooter with the 2021 Honda ADV150 ($4,299) scooter. Based off of the conservatively styled, but highly functional PCX150 scooter, the ADV150 hopes to rekindle the flame of scooters for would-be Generation Z riders.
--
Scooters are all about simplicity, ease of use, and efficiency. And the ADV150 doesn’t disappoint. In lieu of a traditional key, the ADV uses a key fob that must be in near proximity for the vehicle to start. Getting moving is as simple as a twist of the wrist. There’s no gears to shift and no clutch lever to work. Next to the throttle is the front brake lever and the back brake occupies the left side where a clutch lever would traditionally be. There’s also a parking brake for use when parking on uneven surfaces. The scooter can be stowed using either the kick- or centerstand.
Smooth and fuel efficient, the 149cc liquid-cooled single isn’t going to win many drag races. But it delivers a smooth spread of power that is easy to control. Honda says it’s good for 70 mph and we don’t doubt that claim. Fuel mileage-wise it delivers nearly 80 mpg which is good for a range of more than 160 miles based on the 2.1-gallon fuel tank capacity.
Chucky tires and generous travel suspension do a fine job of rolling over bumps on the road, however the ADV still rides very much like a scooter. While it is super nimble, you’ll feel bumps through the seat. Still it isn’t a deal breaker. The ADV is off-road capable too. A manual two-position-adjustable windscreen is a nice touch as is the 12-volt power port located in the front weather-sealed compartment.
A generous underseat storage compartment swallows more than 8 gallons of cargo (that’s more than a 24-pack of soda). There’s also passenger accommodations so a friend can tag along.
Full LED lighting helps a Honda rider stand out on the road and a monochrome instrumentation panel shares machine vitals. The display could be larger, but considering the ADV’s affordable price tag we can’t knock it.
Urban dwellers would be wise to pick up an ADV150. Easy to use, easy to park, Honda’s new scooter checks all the boxes for someone looking for greater freedom and flexibility without breaking the bank.

I purchased this motorbike because I wanted decent power, great looks, and ease of use. Larger people may want to consider a bigger bike, but smaller men and women benefit nicely. I've had mine for about a year and I've produced many videos on the ADV 150. It's an amazing machine and looks the part too. It turns lots of heads when I ride it!

I average between 95-108 MPG on my mostly 45 MPH driving of 2022 Honda ADV 150. Currently I have about 3,000 miles on my scooter. This scooter pulls up hills well and will gain speed readily. As scooter is being broke in you will see gains in power especially after 1,000 miles.👍😀

Nurvianto Bayusuputra yeah I have no idea why scooters are so expensive in the states. I convinced a friend to get a motorcycle instead of a new scooter because it was only $1500 more and he could ride with all of us. Heck, my sv650 I got not too long ago was $5700 brand new. Great review, have a 2018 PCX model which is by far more practical for city riding. My PCX also gets about 120 mpg and looks like a sports bike, don’t know where the old man perception came from cuz that’s not true. People always ask me about it around town too. The ADV version is inferior to the PCX version with worse gas mileage and really not many people going to use it off road.

I unfortunately only have the space in my garage for 1 bike, but if I had the space, I’d totally give scooters a nod for just round-town errands and stuff. I’d even use it to commute to work IF I didn’t have to take the freeway with the incredible gas mileage and storage capacity they offer. I really don’t know why scooters aren’t much more common around the US, at least within the urban cores.

4k is expensive for a scooter but its worth it. In all honesty it's better then buying a 150cc Chinese scooter for 2k they always have issues and you constantly gotta worry about replacing the parts with aftermarket parts. Yes people do that to their vehicles all the time but I'd rather have a brand new stock scooter with nothing wrong and you can always take it to your nearest honda dealership for a free fix if you have warranty of course.

The other thing is it's 77.5mpg for this 150cc Scooter, but the Honda Rebel 300cc has a 78mpg rating. The 300cc goes faster, legal nationwide for interstate use, you can change sprockets out to get more mpg/top speed or less mpg/faster acceleration. I don't see the point of this, you save.. 1.5k? but you lose the capabilities of legal interstate driving, you lose the customization options, you lose out being able to just "tour" on a Rebel 300 to see the relatives 2 states away, with this Scooter, you'd need to pack light or have a backpack, a Rebel 300 can have saddlebags, a taller windscreen, etc, etc, etc. TL;DR This scooter competing against a Rebel 300 (both are light on wallet, same MPG even though Scooters generally outdo Motorcycles in terms of efficiency) , overall, the Rebel 300 seems bast bang for the buck to me.
@mastergogoy6166
@mastergogoy6166 4 жыл бұрын
@@MrCODEmaster00 the Rebel 300 is 2x the cost of this thing here in the Philippines. When you live in a third world country with wages that is barely enough for daily needs and some, scooters will always be the way to go since they're cheaper, and not having to bother with a clutch frees up the left hand and can be used to hold on to other stuff (yep, dangerous yet so damn common practice here like having to hold a case of beer, groceries, etc.). I like scooters but I am not a fan of the ADV 150 as even with the sub $3k price tag over here, there are other scoots with the same displacement that give better value for money and cost way less. Heck, there are even honda and yammie scooters that go as low as $1.5k brand new (these dominate the streets here) that are enough for the highways here since most highways have a speed limit of 60kph and them scoots can go over 90. If I have the money, I would also go with the rebel 300, r3 or a used z650. But I am poor as shit so I am currently stuck with a honda rs125fi. Still striving daily to get myself an r3 someday.

When is the X-ADV gonna be available? At 150cc I don’t think Honda wants sell many of these in duh States? I would however run, jump, and leap for a 400 cc version or the XADV’s luscious 700cc twin!

The seat looks like an afterthought compared to the style of the bike. Flatter, wider front seat, and maybe a tad lower. Elongate and widen the passenger seat. The front of the seat angles up and comes to a point. The rear seat looks very thin when you opened it at the end.

I'm here in Thailand the ADV160 is a pretty big seller here for 30% less. I'm 185lbs. but chose the smaller Qbix125 because smaller is better here in Thailand; much more maneuverable, easier to drive through traffic, easier to park, etc.

i just dont see the point of smart keys. The traditional ingnition key slot is actually an excellent place to keep your key while riding. That little storage where he put the key doesnt really look safe he had to hit the door twice to try and keep it closed, i'd be nervous it would open up and the key fall out.
