I can attest that this project is as easy as described. I just installed a Homelink mirror in my 2022 Telluride EX. It took about 10 minutes with a coffee break in the middle of installation. Kia Parts Guy could not comment on the compatibility of this mirror with the EX version. I think if I had the dealer make the install they would have installed a new wiring harness and cost me a bundle. Great video.

And now for the rest of the story. I just discovered the downside of this fix. IT ONLY WORKS WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. When the engine is secured the device does not work.

Yea that has been the only downside and takes some getting used to especially since I have an optima that it works when the engine is off. Doing research people said there is a way to wire it to the battery but it seemed like too much work

George, I think thats a good thing. If your garage is located attached to your house and you park the car in the driveway, if someone breaks into your car and the homelink was active, they could open your garage and possibly get into your house. Thats one senario why it good to only work when the car is running.@@georgerobertson4655

It will work with the car in Accessories without the car running--- security issue. If you park it outside and someone breaks into your car, you do NOT want them to get into the garage, which they could do if it worked with the car off. If any knows a way to see the buttons at night, i'd like to know.

No problem! Lol when we first got home I went to program the remote and realized it wasn’t installed a factory but fairly easy fix and a lot cheaper than going up in trim level lol

Yea we didn’t realize it was going to be an issue until we pulled into our driveway lol. It was def an unexpected expense but honestly a really easy swap.

Agreed. I had it on my last kia (Sportage). I didn’t even think about asking if it was on this telluride. Did you have to tint the windows yourself? Mine aren’t tented. Also wrapping the roof on mine!

Yea every kia we had came with it standard so it was really odd that it only comes with the SX standard. Nah I had to get the windows tinted myself. I know some dealers do it for you but the charge a crazy amount so I just took it to a shop and I just got the legal percentage. It matches the rare windows fairly well. Yea my appointment for the roof wrap is nov 28th and I can’t wait!

You can’t and I actually didn’t realize that until just now. I’m so used to pressing the second button. I just spoke to me wife and she said she turns the dome light on most nights when she uses it

Hey!! Since you have an LX I would go through the dealer since you will have to run power to the mirror. The kit comes with everything you need but running the power will require removing a lot a stuff like the headliner.

Nah I don’t. From my understanding, everyone thought the ex had it since that’s what the original specs said but it’s actually only one the Sx

Nah all you need is the mirror with the auto dimming feature which should come standard the EX.

Sorry I wasn’t very clear, i just got my 2021 Kia Telluride EX Nightfall/Premium Package and the rearview mirror was UVO equipped but I really want the Homelink. I called the dealership and they told me, they can’t install it for me because it says on the description “This Accessory Mirror is NOT Applicable to Models With Factory Equipped UVO Mirrors.” So I was wondering if you have the same UVO equipped auto dimming mirror..

Nah it doesn’t. All our optima will work with the car off but not the telluride. I even went on the forum I’m apart of and it seems to have mixed answers even with people who bought theirs installed from the factory. Some worked and some didn’t.

If you park you car outside the garage you do NOT want power going the homelink when the car is off, only on accessories. If someone broke into your car parked outside and you had power to the homelink, they could simply push a button and be on your garage or worse yet you house.

@@elvendarkness1 that lol a great!! It’s costing me $250 to get the roof wrapped in gloss black. I have to save a up a little an then I’ll get for entire front wrapped in the clear protective film. We spend a lot of time on the Hwy and I hate those pebble chips in the paint. I hope the bump you to the front of the line somehow
