Really nice review guys, I did a back to back test ride on the 890R and my 790R yesterday. There is definately a difference in low end punch and does not stall as easy as 790R does on take off. The 890 is more forgiving in to high gear as well.

Reliability is key for me. Got to have confidence I can go 100Km without being let down. You compare the 790 to the 890 favorably, but I'm really hoping the 890 had some changes to address the many issues with the 790. If they did that, then I'm sold.

Do you mean "some changes" like adding a second oil pump to jet oil and cool the internals? More rotating mass in the engine, to help it not stall during technical riding? Done and done. Time will tell if these and other changes will make the 890 engine more reliable....

At KTM, the reasoning behind upgrading from the 790 to the 890 comes from the pollution emission standards in Europe. The 790 is EURO4 which cannot be sold new after 31/12/2021. The 890 is EURO5. That's all. So yes the 890 is better but the 790 is real great!

So I just got an 890-R,love the bike,killer engine,electrics are really neat............But at 180lbs? No way to set the sag. Pre load is backed off to full soft...And that's it. Maybe an inch of sag? On a basic rocky gravel road it pretty much just chatters and bounces from one bump or rock to the next. Ive only got 800 miles on it in the first week,with some hard bouncing around......Maybe I need the softer springs....Maybe more hours on bike?

I really like everyone in this channel but Ryan is my favorite. I couldnt agree with him more. I found a smoking deal for a 790 ADV and jumped on it. The change from 790 to 890 is purely because of European emissions reasons. I dont think anyone needs that extra 10 horsepower. If you can find a 790, get it. Talked to my local KTM Dealer (Germany) recently. Knowing the guys since 2001 I pretty much trust them. According to them KTM headquaters expects them to sell a certain amount in 'add ons' with every bike they sell. That could bei a helmet and boots die as well some Software, a different seat or a prolonged warranty.
@davidrsmith24173 жыл бұрын
All of the prices for KTM bikes and accessories (hardware or software) are readily available to the public. Some buyers don't want the accessories, so in that case, they save a lot of $. On the other hand, every review of the KTM 890 Adventure R has clearly detailed the base price and the accessories pricing. Every other motorcycle manufacturer does the same thing, as does every automobile manufacturer. You could say that KTM bikes are just too darn expensive, but consider this - Best in Class is almost never, ever cheap.

KTM made the 950, 990, 1090, 1190 and than the 1290 to figure out people wanted a smaller 790. Didn’t learn there lesson and made an 890. You need lighter weight, not more power duh!! Make a twin 690, or put a fairing and bigger tank on the single 690, it’s not rocket science. I guess old rich guys need to look cool too though.
@kevinnashskitchen35174 жыл бұрын
Gas tank looks like the "Stands Out" feature to me. Stands or sticks out bad.
@davidrsmith24173 жыл бұрын
The tank does stick out but it also acts as a big plastic crash bar - saving you from needing to buy a heavy aftermarket bar(s). Another advantage of the bulbous tank down low is that if dogs chase you, they have a hard time finding your ankle all tucked in behind the tank - an advantage that a BMW boxer also enjoys.
