Amazing review! Thanks! I am thinking of ordering the new E3 5'4" board. I am 6'4" tall and 230lbs. I am thinking maybe the 250 wing or would you recommend the 200 wing? I mainly will be riding it with an occasional friend trying it out here and there. Thanks!

Happy to help. I would say with your size the 250 wing will give you a longer ride time and make learning a little easier. The 200 will work fine as well but you will go a little faster to get up on foil. Also battery life will be a little longer on the 250 as it has more LIFT. Hope that helps. Make sure to go with a 48tail.....

Damien, I used to live in Sea Colony before moving to Maui, we were part of the original Double Roads windsurfing crew, any totally into wing foiling here in Maui, just picked up a lift 120. We are about same size weight - wanted to ask how far from the tail is the back of your mast plate, or center of the foil if you prefer?? Love your channel Aloha

Friend, Well everyone like to ride foils differently. I like mine where the mast comes up meeting the board, my back foot would be on the trailing edge of the mast! My front screws on the back strap are dead center of the mast. I hope that helps....Love the 120HA! My goto!

Wonderful video as always. Curious your recommendation when a rider’s weight is added as a variable. I’m a decent rider who will be buying a lift efoil in ‘21. I foil behind the boat today and would only be using the lift wings for efoiling. That said, while athletic I’m also 200 lbs. As such, would you recommend the 250 surf v2? Allowing stability but also the ability to glide and potentially steal wakes from passing boats? I’d like to be able to carve a bit as well. You mentioned in the video the 250 high aspect, but was debating between the surf and high aspect - and thinking given my weight and I’ll be on a very short board, the 250 an asset to get up on rough water, etc.?
@DamienLeroyYouTube
@DamienLeroyYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
Justin, You have a hard question they both will work. The 250HA will always be better for glide and pumping and more drawn out carves. There is no question you can do the same on the V2 250surf. I think you will be fine with the 250 Surf v2 as you can do it all and sounds like you really like riding behind the boat so will be more playful behind the boat. Its a great wing! You really can't go wrong... The HA will get you to the other boats wake faster! Pump easier but you can still do it on the 250v2 Surf. Have the best day!

Hey Damien. Which wing would be best for downwind foiling? 250HA or 300? I’m riding in the Great Lakes, and currently SUP foiling with the classic 200, which works well. I’m experienced kiting with a foil and windsurfing and SUPing. Looking for the most lift to get onto the smallest slope the Great Lakes so often has... Thanks!!

Honestly friend I would go with the 250HA so good! Lots of lift great glide, and has more room to go at higher speeds.. The 300 is crazy lifty but has a little more drag so my thoughts for you, would be the 250HA. Enjoy love that place!!!

I use a classic 170 for kiting and wake foiling behind a wakeboat. I'm looking for something for the boat that'll let me surf the 2nd or 3rd wake behind the boat instead of just the main boat wake. I just can't get enough glide and pump from the classic 170 to get me very far once I leave the main wake. Any recommendations? I was thinking the high aspect 200 with a 32 back wing... yay? nay? Thanks for the review.

Hard to say as I am not sure on the conditions there but a very good beginner pumping wing is a 250HA or 200HA. more performance is the 170HA and the 120HA.... A lot are using the 250HA for winging... Hope that helps.... All of them can pump for sure...

Can you compare the 250 Surf v2 versus 300 Surf v2 for beginners on eFoil and Wingsurfing? If I've already got a 250 Surf v2 w/50 back wing, is the 300 Surf v2 with 48 v2 back wing worth getting for teaching/introducing people to foiling? Thank you!
@DamienLeroyYouTube
@DamienLeroyYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
Joe, I think you are talking about two very stable wings so you are already teaching on some very safe wings! The 300 with 48 back I really think is the slowest easiest to teach on with the efoil. The other benefit is the cut off ends on the wing so it is very user friendly if you fall on the wing. The 250surf 50 back, is very user friendly so if you already have that you have a very safe stable wing to teach with and works fine so no stress.... You can't go wrong with either wing!

Hi Damien 🤙🏼😃 Thanks again for this very useful video (as usual) and for your happiness and positive mindset. I needs some advises even after watching this video twice at least 😂 I’am kiting more now almost 10 years, kite foiling (self learner…. helped by vidéos a,d forums and tenacity…..) I’ve recently sold all my old foil quiver (Kétos foil Freeride and Freerace wings) to go on Lift foils…… because I’ve finally decided with the release or the e-Lift 3 to get this dream ride machine 🙏😃…’. You can see my questions coming….. I’ve ordered the E-lift v3 with 32’’ mast / 150 Surf V2 / tail 38 V2 package, but wanna (as you mentioned) use Lift in all disciplines: kite foiling, Wing foiling, Prone foiling and probably wake, towed (boat or e-foil) and someday downwind 💪🏼 (for me it’s like the graal). It’s one of the reason I’ve bought an E foil as well to learn without a kite….. and for my wife who just started kiting to go kite foiling asap….. I’am 1m72 for 63kg and my wife 1m72 for 58kg….. I’am quite athletic and agile…..and my wife got a snowboard background and she’s learning kitesurfing quite fast…. Aside the efoil I was thinking going: For kite foiling: 32’’ or 36’’ mast with the 150V2 and 120 HA (I love speed as well) For wing foiling: 32’’ mast with 200 Surf V2 and 170 HA For prone foiling: 28’’ or 32’’ with 200 Surf V2 Tail wings Surf and Glide 32 and 25 I’ picked the HA for the efoil as well and for some additional glide The 200 Surf V2 seems perfect as you said as an all around and for beginners (does the 200 HA would be too hard and challenging for me in prone foiling and winging and E-foiling for m’y wife ? Shall I stick to 200 Surf V2 Does the 150 Surf V2 and 170 HA are manageable for beginners in e-foiling ? Lost of questions sorry but it’s hell of a choice…. If you can help me if you’re not lost 🤣🤪 Sportingly Philo

Friend happy to try and help... For kiting the best wings are the 150V2 or the 100vz surf wings. I like the 32 mast but if you are in high winds and chop you get more leverage with the 36' mast. A kite you have power so the 100 or 150 more stable will work better than the 120HA. 120HA has a ton of LIFT. For wing and prone you can can use the 200HA not the V2 gives you more glide and its high aspect. Once you get good at it go with the 120HA the best foil on the planet for everything.... The 250HA will make winging easier if you are looking to learn in light winds but the 200HA is great! You can learn, yep on the 150 surf v2 on the efoil no problem. Would not recommend the HA wings on the efoil for learning. I hope that helps.
@philo9373
@philo9373 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Damien thx a lot for your time a,d the fast answer…. You rock 🤘🏼 Just to make sure I get it right, when you’re said “ for wing and prone the 200HA not the V2” you’ve meant not the 200 Surf V2 ! (Just to be sure because if I’am not wrong there is HA V2 right ?)…. You’ve have never mentioned the 170HA why ? Seems a good wing for my weight ? (And my wife 57 kg) for later on the e-foil ? I’ll pass my way on the tail wing 48 for any of the applications I want to go ? I’ think I’ll go mast 28’’ for shallow prone surfing spot (a friend told me that the closest spot request a short mast max 75cm) Mast 32’’ for winging and prone on other spots And probably a custom 40’’ for kite foiling Thank you again for your time 🙏 and for your great videos Be safe and keep enjoying your life ! @@philo9373 Friend happy to help. You are a lot smaller and the 170HA will work for sure it just makes it easier on the 200HA when learning wing foiling and prone, bigger slower more LIFT at slower speeds. Yes to answer your question I would go with the HA over the V2 wings so 170HA or 200HA for you as you are much lighter than most. I love the 170HA as it has the highest LIFT to drag ratio other than the 120HA. Reason I like the HA over the V2 is they have more glide less drag, the V2 are more mid aspect and are user friendly for sure but the HA is the future in my opinion. I hope that helps... Tail wing I would say stability will be bigger "38 or 48". Too small when learning just makes things twitchy and harder. On an efoil I would never go smaller than a 38 as you have power, not really needed unless you are riding waves and looking to eliminate drag. "smaller" I hope that helps....

Hi again Damien I ‘ve an ultimate question 😉 Does 100 & 150 Surf V2 have still a good upwind and downwind ability being “surf wings” compare to a Freerace foil ? Thank again for your time and understanding Cheers
@DamienLeroyYouTube
@DamienLeroyYouTube 2 жыл бұрын
@@philo9373 Philo, Well they are not designed for racing but I would say the 100 is fast and can crank up wind, will it compete with a race wing not 100% sure as I have never lined them up with one, but the 100 is a very good fast wing! The 150v2 will be slower and more stable not very fast upwind but an incredible ride for sure for fun! I hope that helps a little.

What wing/mast would you recommend for pumping (for exercise) starting with a bungee system? I'm 150 lbs, a good wake foiler and also ride a prolength Lift efoil with a 200 surf wing. I would appreciate any insights to the best direction I should go. I would love to learn wing foiling, but live on a lake with generally minimal wind.

Bill the easiest for you pumping would be a 250HA LIFT for pumping, slow, easy lots of LIFT and you could wing on it in light winds. If you want a little more performance the 200HA would be what I would go with....

Will the Surf 300 eat batteries faster than the Surf 250? I am 240lbs and found that the 5'4 is a bit of a sinker board for my weight so I'm going with the 5'9. My goal here is to make this as easy to learn and as relaxing to ride as possible. I'm not into tight carving, tricks or speed. My concern is that the 300 wing will eat batteries faster than the 250 and battery life is a big consideration here.
@DamienLeroyYouTube
@DamienLeroyYouTube Жыл бұрын
Richard, Sounds like the 5'9 will be perfect for you! 100% as for the wings the most stable wing is the 300/48 and it will have more lift than the 250. The easiest ride we make is the 300. In time when you want less drag and longer battery time, all I would do is get the tail cone. You remove the shroud! It will give you up to 40% more ride time as it eliminates so much drag! Have a great one!

@@DamienLeroyKZbin Thanks. Is there a noticeable difference in battery life between the 250 and 300? I can ride the 250 if the 300 is going to eat batteries noticeably faster. I haven't seen the tail cone. Seen the folding prop. The shroud you are talking about is the prop guard shroud? My thinking was 5'9 board with 250/48 or 300/48, then when I progress maybe add a 200HA/38 to the mix. Thanks for the tips. I love your videos and I'd love to take a lesson with you but I'm on the other side of the planet. Fortunately we have a great Lift dealer locally which is why I never really considered another brand. At the moment, the conundrum is 250 or 300. I would do the 300 if the 250 and 300 were neck in neck as far as battery life.

Tyler, Great question it works for sure but I feel a 250HA or 250v2 will have more efficiency. The 300 will work. Glide will not be as good as it's a very low aspect wing with drag. But turns at a slow speed for sure.

@@tylerleedom I think your biggest difference will be if you have the prop guard on or off. It is 35-40% drag! As to the wings I think you are talking minimal difference and you will enjoy either honestly. I have never tested it so hard to answer.

@@DamienLeroyKZbin thank you again for your wisdom. I will take the prop guard off. One last question. I am riding a 5’4” lift with the 200 wing. If I switch to the 4’2” with the 300 wing will it be easier to get up on with the larger wing? Won’t I be able to stand up at lower speed? I understand it will be a learning curve because the board is smaller but wouldn’t the 300 wing make it easier to get up on plane and lower speeds as opposed to a higher aspect smaller wing???
@DamienLeroyYouTube
@DamienLeroyYouTube Жыл бұрын
@@tylerleedom Tough question! As sometimes its actually easier for people to get up on the small boards with a smaller wing as they can get the speed up, get the board planning, get to their feet and then pop the board up out of the water. With a massive wing sometimes it is trying to lift up and they are not even balanced to get to their feet. Sometimes it can be harder for some. There is no question the 300 will be a slower speed as for getting up in theory should be more stable and easier. Something to think about.
