Yuki in Q2 did a fantastic time with no slipstream. It would have placed him in 6th place in Q3 alongside Gasly who had the slipstream. On the radio, he told the engineer that he could have gone better in the last sector, but the timing in S3 was identical to Pierre in Q3. In Q3, Yuki didn't really fight for a great time anymore because he knew Lando had given up and didn't want to kill the tires, he didn't do a proper cooling lap and the time was worse, more like in Q1. I can be tempted to say that if they were both in Q3 without a slipstream, under the same conditions, Yuki could beat Gasly. It was a great qualifying form for a rookie who drove this track for the first time. It's a shame how it turned out later. But Yuki from Turkey looks like a completely different driver. This fight with Hamilton must have awakened a lion in him. I'm very looking forward to his performance next season.

@@SriyanGaming but Yuki's Q2 lap on the soft tyre was fast enough for P6 in Q3, where everyone is running the soft tyre. In Q2, yes, he was on the soft while everyone else was on medium, but that isn't the comparison being made here. This is soft tyre-soft tyre, an equal comparison.

Max didn't fully send it, because he was given the racing line into turn 1 by Bottas, he could pick his braking zone exactly the same as he did in FP1, 2, 3 and Quali, using the distance boards that are on the lefthand side of the track, Christian Horner said this post-race as well.

Perez and Red Bull absolutely should have gone with the aggressive pit strategy on Hamilton and pitted early like Verstappen did in the US GP. I just think the over-cut doesn't work because of tire degradation the faster you go and aerodynamic instability just prevents this from ever working. I think this is why Hamilton made the post race comment about Perez because Perez had the much newer tires and they had the speed but, Perez still didn't pass Hamilton despite being right there with multiple laps left.

Hi just wanted to put my two cents in, I was lucky enough to go to the Mexico GP :) I don't live in Mexico City and I definitely felt the thinner air, I can't even imagine how the drivers felt. As a spectator it was amazing but I do agree the race was a bit boring compared to other races, the thrill of seeing the cars go by never went away (especially when Sergio passed) but watching the big screen when they weren't in front of me I could tell there needed to be more action to get even more exited, hopefully next will be better. The cool part of being in the stadium was that they had to break going in so we could see them for longer, I hope they don't change that, also I'm not a huge Max fan but my goodness his pace was incredible to watch and I understand the hype around him much more (saw some of the orange army there), also for the atmosphere part was so great because I think as Mexicans we know deliver a great celebration, especially because we aren't in the world stage a lot of the time (e.g. 164 British drivers in f1 and only 6 Mexicans) so when one of our own has the chance to shine you bet we're gonna support them all the way and to also have more events like this. Such incredible experience and so happy to finally see the sport in person, celebrate my country and support the home hero and follow along with you guys :) Also I wanted to ask how other GPs are handled we here we had an opening ceremony with some traditional dances with the driver's parade and the national anthem plus some hosts to get the crowd exited, do other GPs do that?

Lando gets high grade for finishing 10th because he’s driving a “dead McLaren”. Danny Ric gets “D”, despite holding off a Mercedes for the majority of the race in the same “dead McLaren”, while Bottas gets a C for getting stuck behind a “dead McLaren” and needing two tries, two sets of softs to get the fastest lap with an empty tank… Not to mention that him breaking early “2 meters behind Hamilton” is actually a HUGE amount because he’s to the outside, and the one on the outside is going to break considerably later than the one on the inside…

Bottas was on the brakes way early compared to the other 2 and think it took Dan by surprise but really after his launch, he was mad to move to the dirty side of the track.

Danny ric with a D? Dude held up the clearly faster Mercedes for the entire race. He didn’t get a penalty, you’re grading as if he did and he overtook Bottas before he held him. C would be lowballing that kind of performance any other day. DANNY!!!! Edit: ocon ends two dudes races and you give him a C too. I demand a recount!

@@jameseric3521 they both went back to pits, Bottas came out before Danny and Danny overtook him then held him. So a small nudge and holding off a merc all day is a D but ending two guys days is a C? Talk about a lack of consistency

that Alpha Tauri is underrated imo. It has been faster than Ferrari and Mclaren at many tracks.

If Valtteri and Lewis did the start correctly and pushed Max to the inside, it could have been Max getting spun round by Danny.

It seems Matt's plan for fixing the Mexico circuit is actually to replace it with Monza's layout, plus a reversed Ascari through the stadium and into 'parabolica'.

About Ferrari, It was preplanned to have 2 very different strategy's to try and get Gasly, both drivers failed to do so, because the Honda engine just seem to love high altitude.. About Leclerc not immediately moving away... he got burned by Seb a while back...so yeah he just wanted to make sure he would get the place back....Also he had a good start gained 3 places and kept his nose clean... so not sure where the B grade comes from, but ok ... About the race.. A snooze fest during 90% of the race...A horrible track not only in layout but 0 air resistance so even with so many DRS zones nothing goes and to top it off there is almost no tire degradation so undercutting or overcutting doesn't even work... i mean Checo 11 fresher tires and better car could not overtake Hamilton...

I really don't think the casual viewer understood just how epic Verstappen's overtake at the start was! I was jaw dropped he held that after all weekend the track being slippery and all the driver knew it. Not to mention most the racers were using that part of track to go lawn bowling in practice. His starts all year have been stellar!

Ricciardo had nowhere to go, Bottas cuts across him after braking. Ricciardo would have to have been going at a snails pace into the corner to let Bottas go across. It's not like he locked up straight into him.

Do you recon Hammy will grab another engine, and if yes, do you recon Max should do it at the same race? I know RBH say his PU is likely to clear the year, but it'd suck if the title duel would be settled by reliability woes, and it seems like a good opportunity to grab should Hammy require a new ICE.
