A useful video. Just a couple of small points. First, I find it a good idea to place something such as a sheet of paper, even an old cup on the ground beside the affected wheel on or in which to put the wheelnuts so to prevent dust and road dirt clogging up the threads. I used to wipe a little oil onto my studs to prevent the wheelnuts from becoming locked up with dirt. Second, it would have been helpful to illustrate clearly how the deep groove òn top of the bottle jack is shaped to hold the axle housing. Third, we need to see clearly how to lock/unlock the bottle jack via the little hydraulic locking valve on the base of the jack. Lastly, I have found it to be most effective for safety reasons to place the brick or other behind or before the wheel of the affected axle which in this case is the left rear wheel. I leave any other comments to the others and I thank you for your thoughtful efforts.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge aswell as providing your recommendations. I'm pleased to read your comment as it'll benefit me next time I do a tyre change and another video that addressee everything clearly and in depth detail. Your comment along with other comments will further my learning in the topic and that's what I'm happy to see my viewers share their recommendations for all of us to see.

Generally ok for someone who has never changed a tyre but you need to mention that a torque wrench is required to finally torque the wheel nuts. Torqueing is particularly important for alloy wheels to ensure nuts are correctly tightened. Also while you stress safety and place wheel under the vehicle before removing wheel, you should also replace the spare under the vehicle with the flat. That minimises the time that unnecessary (dangerous) outcomes can occur. For instance you sitting on ground while fitting spare. If the jack fails that spare will be pushed into your lap.

Greg Harris thank you for your comment, after I've changed my tyre I took it to my local mechanic to fix the spare tyre as well as check all bolts are properly tensioned which it was. With the brick placed at the front left tyre it prevents the car rolling backwards aswell as having my spare tyre underneath the car where it was to prevent the brake disc from falling onto me or the floor. I've changed tyres many times before like this and have always ensured my legs weren't underneath the car but also being cautious how I fit the car tyre in.

......Actually the only reason I watched the video is to confirm the removal and refitting of the spare under the car- I've never had a car with this winch type system before, so it is only "locked" in place by the unspecified tension of of the chain when winched up and the excess chain is left to swing in the breeze ! Agricultural in design but I guess it stays secure.

Thanks for this, just got a Paj Sport and was wondering how the jack worked. I'm still not sure how you release the jack at the end but have a lot more to go on now.

No problems, I knew it would be useful to upload it first viewers who will be in the same situation I was.

Good video. You could have added showing the proper torqueing of bolts to a minimum of 120 using a torque wrench

Hi there. Where are the jack points for the front wheels?
@aft-fishing903 ай бұрын
I used bricks and placed them behind the front wheels.

Hi mate , does your Pajero Sport have rust proofing done under the car? I have inspected 6-7 Pajero Sport for purchase and they are like a few years old. They all have some rust especially around and above the front tow points. I really like the Pajero sport.😢

Hi mate my Paj never had any rust. I’d suspect the cars that do have been driven at beaches. I sold my Pajero and ordered a brand new Toyota Kluger Hybrid. Although I miss the four wheel drive system, I definitely don’t miss how expensive it is on fuel and on services. I personally don’t think the Pajero is a car for every day, suburban driving. One thing to consider also, if your looking for a used Pajero that’s a few years old, divide its o.d.o by its age, if it’s over 20,000 for each year then you’ll miss out on the Mitsubishi 10 year diamond advantage warranty.

If you’re spending that much money I would buy the LandCruiser Prado, you’ll get a fuel tank twice as large and more space compared to the Pajero. I’ll be looking into the market again and my eyes are set on the 300 series brand new.
