Idk what procedure mv give you but you can rev an engine out while running it in. In fact you need to at some point to run in an engine properly. So you don't create "steps" on the cylinder wall. You just have to do is gently. No sudden sharp acceleration, nice slow smooth action so the components aren't put under high load.

A mate of mine, had a Dragster RR, a few years ago. Looked stunning, red/white with gold accents. Went like stink, handled amazingly, sounded awesome!! However; problems from day 1!! This bike was brand new...... Throttle sensor failed, BEFORE he collected it, waited 3 weeks for replacement. Oil leak from gear shift shaft, would take about 8 weeks to get replacement seal! Fuel tank breather kinked or blocked, caused tank to vacuum! Loose spokes on wheels, and a dead battery (which required removal of the tank, handle bars etc for access). All this within 3 months of ownership!! He returned it to the shop, bought an MT10 instead. Shame, it was an awesome bike!!

@sensoryamusiaAU3 жыл бұрын
Sarcasm? Sprag clutch anyone?
@pistonburner64483 жыл бұрын
@@sensoryamusiaAU So, what about the sprag clutch? The one that: 1. Hasn't been an issue but for a far less amount of people than morons like you try to make it seem 2. Was fixed by MV Agusta for everyone free of charge = owners have nothing to fear about 3. Even old bikes have the new reliable sprag clutch design fitted 4. Was never even a big issue as it doesn't leave anyone stranded: it warned people for ages to get it fixed and only those who ignored getting it fixed for free might have possibly gotten stranded out on a ride. 5. For years the new model MV Agustas have had a new type of sprag clutch which doesn't have any issues. So I repeat: for years MV Agustas have had a new sprag clutch design! (and all old models with issues have those new parts fitted too so they are problem-free as well) 6. MV Agusta offers their bikes with a long warranty (depends on the country but I believe the minimum everywhere is 3 years?) So it was never really an issue even when there were a few problems with the sprag clutch...on OLD MODELS. And on new models it's the opposite of an issue as just like the rest of the bike it's not only a very reliable bike to begin with, but even the few small issues have been fixed.
@sensoryamusiaAU3 жыл бұрын
@@pistonburner6448 Calm down mate. The sprag clutch WAS an issue. Anything requiring you to take your bike to a mechanic is an issue. I had a '15 Dragster and I did not have faith in it's reliability so I sold it. It's great to hear that MV's are much more reliable these days as they are super cool and unique bikes.
@pistonburner64483 жыл бұрын
@@sensoryamusiaAU It was a very small issue: a problem that didn't strand you, most people had months to react to it before it became a problem, so they could book a convenient time for the fix. And it cost nothing. Above all, it's unbelievable that absolute morons like you keep lying about that being an issue as the discussion is whether or not it's a problem for CURRENT buyers of MV Agustas! And it certainly is NOT!! Because the sprag clutch is a new design in current bikes, so it's NOT even the slight, tiny, itty-bitty issue that it was in the past for the OLD models which does NOT affect the current MV Agusta buyers!! There, once again we've handled the _"TERRIBLE"_ reliability _"problems"_ of MV Agusta: that one sprag clutch issue of A HISTORIC MODEL NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION that was no big deal at all to begin with as it didn't strand you nor cost you, and even for those old models it was replaced with a version that was improved so even buying used ones of the older model is no problem. Anything else? Haha, you "didn't have faith in its (correct spelling) reliability"!!! Well, too bad you weren't intelligent enough or were too lazy to do research and lost yourself lots of money for no reason!! I bought mine when the company was at the brink of bankruptcy and people believed that nonsense about reliability issues (and when the parts availability was in fact an issue so that was a small risk for me) so it was discounted like crazy, then owned it for years, then when the new owners had come in and they solved the spare parts issue and confidence in the brand raised back the confidence and prices, I sold it for almost exactly as much as I bought it for! But hey, you can buy at high cost and sell at low price if you think that's so smart. And then you can go ahead and try to rationalise your huge mistakes with lies on the internet... I don't have to make up lies about reliability issues to try to hide my mistakes.

Very interesting. Aggressive! I'm thinking about something to replace my '19 ZX6R. Looking for bit bigger engine, bit more power and slightly more comfortable but still sporty. This seems to fit the bill, but not sure I'm ready to give up on Japanese reliability. Might have to test a MT-09 or MT-10. Mirrors sticking out like that is ridiculous for riding in traffic.
@hubert11423 жыл бұрын
Good luck picking the right bike for yourself! I was also transitioning from a 600 to MT09 in 2017, did around 20kkms in 2 years - great bike, but didn't like its "wobbliness" in fast turns and higher speeds, also power soon wasn't enough. Sold it, got 2019 MT10 and done 35kkms in 2years - it has power, comfort, it's on rails. Had exactly zero issues with either bike. As soon as Yamaha comes with an updated version of MT10 (I hope they do something similar to the latest MT07 and 09), I am buying it immediately. I think that the newest MT09 solves some of the imperfections of the previous model, but knowing what I know now, I would have gone from a 600 straight to MT10.

@pistonburner64483 жыл бұрын
There is this thing called a warranty, and also what reliability problems would you expect with an MV Agusta? I've never heard of anything except the earlier models' known (and also not as widespread as people think) starter clutch issues which MV Agusta replaced for free and this is now a totally new bike and has a different clutch. Note that they also even install their newly designed starter clutches onto all old bikes to solve that problem! They developed a fix for that issue which solves it for everyone. Which, btw, wasn't even that expensive of an issue to begin with, it's not as if it broke the engine, it just meant it became 'difficult' to start (you just have to make a few attempts or dip in the clutch slightly to get it going). People only got stranded if they ignored that issue for a very long time and didn't bother to go have it replaced for free. And that was with the old bikes: I'll remind again that all new MVs have the new version which has the problem resolved. On the contrary these new MVs are tried and tested tech with even the very few minor issues now resolved. (I'd also like to point out that NO Italian bikes work well with batteries that aren't of high enough quality and I'm sure that really many of those starter clutch issues were caused by people putting in poor quality batteries, putting far more strain on the starter mechanism) (As a second aside: Overall I just don't understand why people would be afraid of motorcycle reliability, especially with new bikes for the first several years, since whole engines don't tend to explode and everything else is so cheap to replace on motorcycles. I'd never want to live my life without the beauty of things like MV Agusta just because I'd be afraid of what some clueless people on the internet spew about it maybe costing an extra few hundred over its whole life or not even that, just an extra trip to the service for a free fix...) But yeah, MV Agusta has no reliability problems and on top of it has a great warranty. Furthermore they have a history of taking good responsibility of any past known design faults (which have been taken care of many versions ago). This bike has no completely new tech, it's all a honed and developed version of their known technology and components, which was far from unreliable to begin with. I see this bike as looking to have evidence of having all the hallmarks of being a very reliable bike AND having you covered should something unexpectedly go wrong, exactly contrary to what some thoughtless people who don't know what they're talking about seem to keep blurting out. Oh, and if some clueless internet spewers try to tell you about parts supply issues then never listen to anything they say again, because that is total misinformation: MV Agusta, under its previous owners when facing bankruptcy many many years ago around 2015-2016 did have little to non-existent reserves of spares meaning some had to wait for the next batches being manufactured, but the company has since got a totally new owner with massive influx of cash and specifically a total revamp of its spare parts system with proper reserve inventory (and they've also worked to improve cooperation with all the MV Agusta service shops around the world) years ago.

Hey there, how smooth did you considered the throttle to be when comparing it to the likes of other naked bikes like the z900? I do not like "choppy throttles" and that is an issue I have with my motorcycle (Kawasaki z400) I am considering a second bike and I can't help but notice this one.

i has to be said, to more you have confidence and the harder you push, the better the bike. if you are hesitant going in corners this is not the bike for you and could be dangerous.

That’s just great, got a thing for Italian bikes, owner of a Moto Guzzi and an old Laverda. It is generally the dealer network that’s the main issue

I've only had to service my bike once every two years on average, sometimes once a year when I did very long tours on my Brutale. I don't mind taking a nice ride to the authorised service centre once every two years (or once a year) and look around and try new bikes while my bike is serviced. Any routine things like winterisation can be done by myself or any shop close to me. For any unexpected issues like when I had my battery die (not the fault of the bike, the KTM shop that I had replace my battery put in the wrong type, some cheap-o useless junk battery...) the insurance company paid for transporting the bike to the MV Agusta service centre. Of course if I'd have known it's only the battery I could've avoided that, so anyone who doesn't have such insurance coverage can just take it to be diagnosed to the nearest shop first if they want, to see if it's some simple issue anyone can rectify. I've never had to, but I could also just rent a trailer or van and take it to the dealer myself too. Compared to all the costs of bike ownership having to do that once or twice is nothing. But with my insurance: any problem where I can't ride it there I get a free transport and with new MV Agustas they have a long warranty which means the repairs themselves are free. Of course you need a ride to go get your bike once it's ready, but that's hardly a problem for most people. Small price to pay for getting the excitement of an MV Agusta every time you ride. Overall I'd say MV Agusta should be one of the most reliable bikes out there, since it was really reliable to begin with, it's not a totally new design with unknowns but is instead a development of known tech, and they have ironed out all the few flaws. _It's tried and tested._ Also, we know that even years ago back when they were in financial difficulty they still took great care of those few customers with problems and fixed those starter clutch issues for free, and note that even for old bikes people got the newly developed fixed clutch designs so now even the old model bikes are really reliable.

MV'S awesome to look at and if ya get lucky enough to have a go I would think a great experience .They have always been special and crowd pullers for many years as you say chops a work of art true Italian design flare but sooo expensive although these days really I guess there is a lot out there that are around the same money and even more which to me is reticula's. They have or had a Brutalli in Rochdale Honda and it just oozes charisma . nice one : )

As you say Mr. Chops, it wasn't the most exciting video you have ever put out, still a good watch though. Nevertheless I have to give you credit for riding the £17500 bike with some respect, because eventually someone is going to buy it and if not run in properly it could land the new owner with all sorts of bother down the line, given the MV unreliability problems that the brand carries. Thank goodness for the 3 year warranty.

Lovely looking bike, but I’m not sure if I’d like to be spending a lot of time in the garage constantly cleaning those wheels. Apart from that it looks great,. Is the power delivery too high up the Rev range ? Let us know Chopsie,, great video

"I’m not sure if I’d like to be spending a lot of time in the garage constantly cleaning those wheels" I know you didn't ask me, but my opinion is that MV's 800 engine has a great balance of torque and power over the whole rev range. IMO on a bike like that even though it is 'slightly lacking' in lowest-down grunt compared to some larger V-twins etc. it is crazy to say that it would be lacking in any way at all as it's a lightweight and actually still very quick to accelerate even from down low...and likes to ride at slightly higher revs anyway so IMO you might not want to compare acceleration from the very lowest revs exactly equal to bikes that you simply ride differently. Also, with such an incredibly exciting, 'always-wanting-to-go' bike it's a good thing that there is one area where the bike is not absolutely nuts, but is only 'very nuts', so that you can tone down the craziness a bit by keeping the revs low. IMO it feels great when riding on lower revs, and then you have the choice of riding a gear lower and using the very very ample mid-range torque and then letting it go into it's crazy high end which you don't have with many other engine types! The 'just right' low end torque on a light bike transferring seamlessly to very strong mid-range to once again seamless transfer to glorious song of the high revs is exactly the triple's party piece! What's great is also how the engine sound is glorious in different ways through the rev range: twins don't have such an operatic song at high revs and 4-cylinders (except maybe multi-plane-crank ones like R1) don't have such a cool and characterful low end. I personally have noticed that I tend to ride by far the most at low and mid range revs (as anyone would expect), and the MV is extremely exciting riding like that. That's the strength of it: the engine is flawless and exciting enough and above all the chassis is so engaging that you don't have to rely on jail-time/morgue-ticket engine use to get your thrills. Similarly to old-school small 2-stroke sport bikes for example you get your thrills without having to go at lunatic speeds and can have a full-on 'skill-ride', a genuine experience and not be bored, not only relying on the thrill of acceleration as your only source to a high. On public roads basically the high revs are for very brief special circumstances and you don't really have an opportunity or wish to go there at other times...the mid range and above all the amazing feel of the bike's chassis and its exciting immediate responses are more than enough to excite you every time you go out there. And then whenever you CAN really exploit the speed of a sports bike the high revs are there to be tapped instantly and naturally with a seamless feel.
