The rumor I have been told of why the Petty 43 is that bright orange on the roof was for Richard's late wife (Linda) to be able to see the car anywhere on the track. It is now done to honor her. If you know some of the Petty history it would make a lot more sense as to why it is still that color.

1:14 - It looks good, but I kind of wish last year's scheme that was vaguely reminiscent of Earnhardt's car was still around to do battle with the new Axalta car. 1:53 - The old Ricky Hendrick scheme is a good template to work from, I like the rare choice of colors, and the NationsGuard branding fits on the hood and quarter panels better than the HendrickCars.com URL did last year. 3:57 - Someone started a fire trying to make waffles. 5:11 - The pattern of minimalist croissant illustrations is a much neater-looking way of doing what Oscar Mayer tried to do with their 2019/2020 paint schemes. 14:14 - Just make at all silver so that we can trick people who haven't followed NASCAR in a while into thinking it's Chip Ganassi's silver bullet. 15:14 - It looks like an Oklahoma State football helmet, which is a compliment coming from me. 16:46 - Nice Taco Bell paint scheme. 23:06 - pbs.twimg.com/media/Ctj4dOWUIAAjAjO.jpg

My favorite 2021 NASCAR Paint Sceme is the Orange and Black Armor All car being driven by Erik Jones. The reason why the black and orange Armor All car is my favorite 2021 NASCAR Paint Sceme is because the black and orange looks amazing together and the orange is nice and bright. I also like the bright orange number 43 with the black outline and the white and black outline around the white number 43 on the side. And last but not l like the black rims. That is why my favorite 2021 NASCAR Paint Sceme is the orange and black Armor All car being driven by Erik Jones.

All time favorite paint scheme was Jeff Burton’s 2000 Exide Batteries scheme, when exide still sponsored him. Had that white hood, with the lightening bolt down the side, with black and purple damn that car was beastly. I think Kurt Busch drove the exact same scheme in the truck series that year.

I agree with your comments on the 3 car, Eric. For me, the orange being dialed back on the 3 is pretty underwhelming. Some of the best Bass Pro Schemes have absolutely GLOWED on the track because of the use of orange. 2016 Martin Truex and 2010 Jamie McMurray are probably some of my favorites.
