I got this bike after years of 26"-hardtail-riding. It is no relevation but at least a huge increase of performance to me. Having, lockout, 18 gears and a relatively light bike feels still like driving an XC-hardtail uphill - which is nice if you ride local trails. First I installed a dropper post and I am thinking of getting better brakes (the small rotors feel like hydraulic rim brakes - which is not so bad).

After market goodies too, I've mountain biked before for fun, I race dirrbikes and ride dirrbikes very frequently.. that being said, I love this bike I'm 155lbs and it's been very capable, I'll probably upgrade the shocks and handlebars and drive train but no complaints.

I have this bike. I had no idea. It was a big dinner bike. It has helped me with a lot. I think that the traction the tires good could definitely be improved. But as far as a bicycle goes, it has about the best traction. I've ever seen on ice snow, mud, Sand seemed to be the only terrain that the bike hadn't issue on, when im in the city I roll over large curbs with little to no effort, The bike is very durable. I have ridden it a few times when I was drunk. I got into a few crashes and the bike came away with barely a scratch. My only complaint about this bike is hardly complaint. But it's not very fast and it seems hard to maintain speed with it. I'm not sure if that's common with mountain decks. As in the past, all the bikes I've ridden were very good at coasting. But this one is not very good at coasting on flat roads.

I used to have a 29er motobecane- was entry level and all stock but a few parts really loved it on beginner trails - as I am by no means anything but a novice at the moment- well I lost the bike a few years ago and I decided to get a new bike - was going to get another one when I came across this bike although it is now a 2024 version- I upgraded the front fork to an air ride - I’d suggest a tapered rock shx Judy silver in a tapered - it will smooth a lot on this bike- get a budget friendly dual chamber air shock for rear and enjoy this bike it’s a bike that can do way more and it’s proven itself with a good rider. That’s not me at moment I’m starting over so to speak but it’s a good bike for folks that will stick with you for a while on your mountain bike journey

@TheShredShedMTB3 жыл бұрын
I agree. Straight from the factory, you have a capable bike that could handle a lot more than the D5. Especially at the price point of the D7, it’s hard to argue that the D5 is a better value. HOWEVER, a lot of the components would still need to be upgraded to make a fully capable bike, which at that point, why pay the extra $700 for the D7 just to upgrade them? It all comes down to what your plans are with the bike.

The parts are made of a lower quality, cheaper material. They are also less refine. And because they are inferior to modern components, demand is lower which makes the price cheaper.

Question. Does anybody know if the 2021 D5, D6 & D7 frames are the same exact product besides their paint jobs? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I want to grab one of these and would almost rather get a D5 and do some upgrades.
