100% on Hyundai/KIA/IONIQ, the key is making EVs accessible/affordable and desirable! And the Hyundai family is doing just that.

Sad to see that the inwheel EV's like the Aptera and Xbus are not mentioned (Yet). Both will start delivery this year to.
@MissGoElectric3 жыл бұрын
Hopefully Xbus and Aptera will achieve factory production and US distribution in 2022.
@BMWHP23 жыл бұрын
@@MissGoElectric I expect Aptera will, but Xbus only in the EU in 2022.

Excellent review of the past, current, and upcoming EV developments, Lacey! You certainly do thorough research and are consequently very knowledgeable and experienced. I hope to be able to wave at you someday over the growing crowds at an EV'ent.

My favorite electrification event of 2021: Taking delivery of a Performance Model Y. Nothing comes close to the super fun machine that is the Model Y (except another Tesla).

We love our Y and S. Rivian, Lucid, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, and Genesis are offering great EVs, too!

Great recap of 2021. What a year it was for EVs! It seems like it was the year that EVs really started to take off. I did notice one omission, the Ford Transit Electric van, a significant entry in the US van market.
@MissGoElectric2 жыл бұрын
If only they were building and shipping in 2021. We spent a lot of time with the electric Ford Transit Connect back in 2011/2012. It will be awesome to begin seeing the big brother in volume production at Ford. insideevs.com/news/545291/ford-etransit-sold-out/

We know BEVs are the future to the mainstream car market, but doubt with the use of Li-on base battery cells. A big demand in BEVs, would increase drastically the Lithium ton prices. Solid state batteries or another battery cell technology could solve some of the issues in the long run, as production costs and sustainability.
@MissGoElectric3 жыл бұрын
It is worth noting that lithium costs account for a small portion of battery material and manufacturing expenses. If prices lithium double, the MSRP of a typical EV would rise by a percent or two.
@RogerM883 жыл бұрын
@@MissGoElectric but let's not forget with more demand, the mining of Lithium would become harder and more expensive That's why I'm a believer, that another more sustainable battery technology is needed.

Please consider that it may be a mistake to site new plants in Kentucky and Tennessee. In our new climate, aren't those states squarely at risk from tornados?
@MissGoElectric3 жыл бұрын
Tornados can be devastating. The accuracy of our annual account would be reduced if we avoided any mention of billions of dollars in industry investment due to a natural disaster risk.

Hey Laycee, as someone who has familiarity with the political process, do you think all of these EV capital investments in Southern states will have any sort of payoff for the industry in terms of state and federal considerations?
@MissGoElectric3 жыл бұрын
Less regulation, stable and lower-cost (non-union) labor, and convenient access to less-congested shipping hubs certainly helps attract automakers to the southeast. Each of those benefits will contribute to margin. The tax incentive packages and associated deliverables are too complex for me to decisively weigh in on whether or not it is a smart use of government money. One thing is for certain, a great deal of new economic activity will take place in the south as a result of these projects. It will generate significant income for local and state governments in many forms, well before the factories go online.

20:54 Lamborghini is owned by Audi, which is in the same automotive group as Porsche and Bugatti. Lamborghini will build EVs on the same 800 V PPE platform as Porsche and Audi.
@MissGoElectric3 жыл бұрын
We wonder if Lamborghini will go ALL electric (ceasing combustion engine production) as Bugatti has committed?

All the LAMs' talk about investment in battery production several years away is well and good. But I prefer to focus on the $10B that Tesla is in the process of deploying in Texas today. The Terafactory already appears to have passed the process to get permitted (in contrast to Tesla's Berlin factory), having gone from foundation to final external wall panels in exactly one year.

We published video reports from the Gigafactory site in Austin. It is massive, and topped last year's MGE Rewind. Producer Tim has day1 Cybertruck pre-orders, and we look forward to taking delivery in Texas. It will be exciting to see Model Y and Cybertruck production begin in 2022...if it isn't delayed again
