Nice to see a new video on this. I have one as well. I’m in Spokane, but I ride and hunt northern Idaho. Mine is a ‘16. They shine on tight trails with heavy loads. Hauling out elk is much easier on this than a regular dirt bike.

I worked just down the street from where these were made around 2000, they used to go for a spin around the base on a couple of them at lunch time every day. That was before they moved to Rochester, NH.

Rough riding on the rear mono-shock. Adjustable, but capable to carry a LOT of load. I don't need one, but I REALLY like it! After you catch your breath, the last hill looked steep, from my point of view! You may choose to skip the tunes, I like to hear the engine working. Yes, if you are used to dirt bikes, the front tire will pull you where it's aimed! You are a skilled rider.

ROCON also offers a "vintage seat". It is a single rider seat, instead of a saddle. I believe that seat is also independently mounted on a spring system. If you get the enhanced cargo rack with the single v8ntage seat, tou could still place a pad for a passenger on the cargo rack.

OTBER times- I put the kickstand down in the middle of a hill, and when I got off I slid down the hill not wanting too! Had a hell of a time getting BACK UP To the bike! It was fun to review this version. I had an early 340cc Rokon with the Salisbury drive. (snow mobile) Big knobbies on mag spoke wheels with 11" disc brakes. Zero to an indicated 90 mph in one gear! Heavy at 340 pounds. Bright Yellow. It hurt me. In a sketchy situation, the excellent brakes smacked me on the ground caught my foot. ;-)

Curious about optimal riding technique?? Maybe it's a lot of fun to see how fast you can go, but if you ride it like a 2 wheeled tractor, slowing down and letting the torque carry you along, probably that's less effort, bouncing around, wrestling. Better for an all day effort.

They are great bikes for sure, however for the current prices they charge there really needs to be some designe upgrades like a suspension added. Other than cost and easier manufacturing there is zero reason not to. At some point and time riding a rigid frame becomes a painful endeavor that wears you out quickly.

Always wanted a Rokon, wondering how is the throttle response compared to a more “traditional “ type of motorcycle throttle response. Looks like a LOT of fun!
@ThrottleWorks
@ThrottleWorks 3 жыл бұрын
The thing is truly a blast! As far as throttle response goes, the rokon is driven with a centrifugal clutch and has a low, mid, and high range selection. It's less geared for speed and more for torque so in low range if you give too much throttle it may try to toss you off the back lol but in high range it takes more power to get going. Hope that answers your question and if you or more folks would like I could do a full walk around of the bike.

I think he has to much air in the tires. For off road it should be around 5 psi for off road and 7 psi for street.
@bolwinklemoose1999
@bolwinklemoose1999 2 жыл бұрын
Doesn't weigh 1,000 lbs. It weighs 200 to 250 lbs. You can lift both wheels off the ground by pulling it sideways up onto the kickstand. Once off the ground on the kickstand, you can pivot the direction of the bike on the kickstand 360° while stationary. The tires should only be inflated from 5 to 7 psi, providing more suspension for offroad. If you get it stuck, dismount, stand to the side, put it in first gear, ease on the throttle and push at the same time. The oversize tires and hollow sealed rims enable you to float it on its side and swim it across a body of water. It's narrow enough for most foot trails and will pull one ton (2,000 lbs) with a 7 hp one cylinder four stroke carburated engine. It has a battery and electric start, but can be pull-started and can operate completely without a battery. It has no onboard computer, or computer chip electronics. It's not built for speed. It's built for endurance and torque power to steadily push through the most challenging terrain and steadily climb and pull weight up a 60% grade. It's top speed is about 35 to 40 mph. It has a three speed transmission with neutral and automatic/centrifugal clutch. It has one central disc brake that acts on the drive train, not the wheels. It is a work horse. Think of it as a powerful lightweight two wheel drive tractor.

It's very different than your typical dirtbike, so because of that the seat position along with being 2x2 and having no real rear suspension it definitely can be harder to handle. Not to be a troll or anything but if you ask me UNLESS you can actually use and need the front wheel drive on this? It really is a substandard motorcycle compared to what else is avaialble.....I can see someone not understanding what is available being attracted to this but ? meh....UNLESS someohow you can actually make use/need two wheel drive....and even then there are other options....even for big atv wheels there are other options.....not me but it is pretty quirky I guess

You said it weighs about 1000 Pounds. A full dressed Harley weighs about 1000 Pounds. The Rokon dry weight is 217 Pounds, no where neat 1000 Pounds. That why the Rokon is so great off road, it doesn't weigh all that much and you can easily horse it around.

Neat bikes for sure, but they cost way too much for what they are. I tend to be right-leaning politically most of the time, but Rokon charges WAY TO MUCH, and all because "mAdE iN aMeRiCa"

Agreed. Why the hell are these things so expensive? Literally a little metal, a lawn mower engine, tires and wheels. They should be half of what they are. Pushing 10 grand is insanity..

That's a bit unfair. Look at the pegs, they are mounted forward so I really can't see how you could stand on the pegs. Apparently, some folk stand up on the rear pegs to achieve what you're saying 🇦🇺
