The vintage rokons with the maxxis big horn 26" tires hook a little bit better. I Converted my 1964 Rokon trailbreaker over to a electric 3000w 80v brushless motor kit. Instant tourqe and a super quiet machine. it packs a punch .

Great video - especially the drone footage. Put a few studs on the tires and they're alot more effective on ice and log crossings. Also a softer shock on the front takes away from your body being bounced all to hell...One of the best mods I ever did on my 2011 TB.

A street legal Rokon would be a great year around vehicle here in Canada. Need to change to belt drive and enclose the engine to protect it from the salt. In even colder climates like Edmonton where they use sand, that wouldn't be an issue in the winter.

I had one for two years; it sux riding on sxs torn up trails; you are always fighting to stay out of the track or stay in the track; I only liked riding it when there was NO trail ! Right through the forest, but you better have a saw; hence the name Trailbreaker

Got mine last month and took it on its first hunt. A good machine but after getting the deer on plus my hunting weight and the fact that my legs were exhausted from killing him a couple miles out, lets just say I had a tip over spill. You need legs to ride this in the back country.
@ThrottleWorks3 жыл бұрын
Yeah they definitely require some leg work but as you ride more and more it will obviously become easier and easier to ride with less leg input haha 🤘

I'm glad to see some things are still made in America, and this bike has always been a useful and awesome concept. All that being said though, they cost way too much for what they are. And it's not because the motor or materials are that expensive, it's because you're paying the wages of American workers. Inflation is getting crazy here in the states, and I know the guys that make these need to earn a living, and they're a small company, but it's like the old saying "biting your nose off to spite your face" they charge so much so that the workers who make these can live well above the poverty line, but the fact that they charge so much severely limits the amount that they can sell. Edit: If this was made in China to the exact American specs with no corners cut and the exact same performance and quality you could buy it for $1,500 USD or less.
@stevehislop3 жыл бұрын
Basically, you are not totally wrong, but it is a generalisation based on no facts whatsoever. I make another asumption now: I guess that they could only survive -and Rokon is around since ...forever - because all the little engineering solutions are protected by patents. And a good patent is worth a lot of money. This thing as been through the Darién gap. I think this took quite some R&D and very good engineering to make it that reliable. The devil lurches in the details and I think that this is the reason why nobody goes ahead and tries to copy these Rokons....it probably looks a lot easier than it actually is, to make them to be this good. I can be wrong though.

They are cool bikes but way overpriced for what they are.
@parkerswaim6392 Жыл бұрын
So how much you you think they should go for
@piperg6179 Жыл бұрын
Nope. We know that Rokons are not overpriced because we know that people buy them. And, besides, they are made in small quantity which adds to cost of mfg. Sorta like a helicopter. Helies are astronomically expensive, BUT, when the chips are down and you gotta get out of trouble, or get into trouble, you call for a heli. When you gotta get through obstacles and through nasty terrain, the Rokon may save your butt.
@humdinger5701 Жыл бұрын
@@piperg6179 Citing they arent overpriced because people buy them is flawed logic. By your standard nothing in this world is overpriced. Compairing them to something extremely complex like a helicopter is moronic. The most expensive part on the rokon is the engine which is about $350 brand new. The rest of the parts arent expensiver, very simple bike. Total cost in parts I would guess is well below $1k. Companies will charge as much for something as they can. They adjust thier pricing depending if they are happy with profits or not. I bought a Yamaha T7 for $10k the cheapest Rokon is $9k.
@piperg6179 Жыл бұрын
@@humdinger5701 My dear chap, let me explain some basic economics to you. We live in a competitive world. The companies that succeed can only do so by having the most desired combination of price and quality in their products. Rokon has been in the market for decades and yet no similar cycle is being produced by a competitor - which means nobody has seen an obvious way to make a cheaper equivalent. Why? Probably the cost of limited production of frames, gear boxes, shafting, hubs and all the other stuff, plus the engine (however cheap that is) on top of cost for insurance, labor and whatnot makes trying to compete with Rokon unattractive. Rokon’s long suvival without competition by definition means their product is inexpensive for what you get (and what you get includes the high probability that it is reliable and that Rokon will be around when you need parts). So a Rokon is not overpriced- it’s probably a bargain. Or, try it another way. A Rokon is sort of a compact ATV. Has two less wheels and a smaller engine but isnt made by the thousands. Most ATVs of quality, without all the dude stuff, sell for near $10k also. With the dude stuff they are topping $12k. Glad to have straithened this out for you.
