All relative to how much you ride, seems like he rides 4+ days/wk. Stuff is going to break if you keep that up. Blown out seals would fall under maintenance anyway IMO. 2x cracked frames is a bummer, but i've had plenty of friends across all bike brands with the same sh*t. That's carbon...

there's a reason why Shiguras are so popular (magura caliper and shimano lever), cause those stock magura levers are trash. I think it's partly down to the forward aft master cylinder design which one other manufacture has adopted, so to get the correct lever action on the piston they have to comprise on the lever material in that area.

@@Blake_Cherubini Sort of. A few small lay downs and stuff like that, nothing major. Everything was working great (after *plenty* of brake bleeds to actually get them working) and then first corner, first run of the Funduro and the rear brake completely failed. Turns out the piston seals in the MC had failed and when I contacted Magura support, the guy said that it wasn't rebuildable and since the bike had been "laid down" they wouldn't cover a new one. Went with the XT's and am somewhat happier. Still not quite what I want.

Well the pedals have this horrible squeak that is incredibly loud. And within a few rides one of them won’t spin without quite a lot of force. The dropper….works but it frequently acts like the lever is being pressed when it is not. This happens with the cable even disconnected. The bars are supposed to flex. I don’t get much if any flex from them.
@yetti4233 жыл бұрын
2 frames cracked yeah perfectly normal, nothing to worry about..... and the fork seals blew out, and you and your friends had multiple suspension failures. Would you tolerate that on a car?.......no... so why should it be acceptable on another piece of equipment with the capacity to inure or even kill you. Need to hire your standards as i did with my enduro 2015 all the bearings seize and the forks died within 3 months, the shop seemed to think this was acceptable and that they were doing me a favour when they had just taken £5000. Needless to say i wasn't pleasant with them. Like specialized products but i don't make ecuses for them
@Blake_Cherubini3 жыл бұрын
Almost everything breaks eventually regardless of brand. Doesn’t mean it’s acceptable by any means. In our case, we prefer the performance of Fox when it’s working correctly, which is most of the time. We have an extra shock on hand just in case and are perfectly fine with that. Cracked bikes are never fun but Specialized always takes care of it. Seen plenty of other brands crack too… Never made and excuse for anything I use as I have no reason to. I don’t get paid by anyone.
@yetti4233 жыл бұрын
@@Blake_Cherubini ok i understand, but when i started mountain biking it struck me how laid back somewhere to stuff breaking, i find it acceptable a derailleur to be ripped off or its mount bend or a wheel to bend, buckle or break in extreme use. If i had purchased a carbon frame from any manufacturer and it broke twice that would remain a worry that it would be likely to fail just after the warranty ran out, the same could be said for e-bike motors and electrics. Im sure other brands have issues but know at the moment specialized have had belts strip? snap plus other issues, they even budget 3 motors for the lifetime of the warranty which is why despite wanting a levo or kenevo ( sorry did they name it after a barbie doll?) the crux of this problem is i do large mileages. sometimes hitting a hundred mies loop off road in hilly terrain and my bike has remained solid. my brother on the other hand has a camber evo carbon and it went south. my previous comment was not a snipe at you i was just pointing out that theres too many failures to be acceptable especially that you and your friend all had multiple failures. I'm struggling a little to get the put my point across in the manner id like so ill phrase it like this. if a car manufacturer makes a car that kills a family member theres recourse, but if an mtb manufacturer sends out a dodgy product that has the same result why do some see it as one of those things? makes you think..........you make good vids keep up the good work

$20k? A lot of it is under warranty, and don't forget they do their maintenance. An float x2 is like $600. It's not a cheap sport, it's just upkeep and maintenance. You'd need the same on a dirt bike, which IMO is nowhere near as fun as MTB.
