Darington is so SICK! The new Stumpy Evo is pretty rad too. The big question I'm facing at the moment is trying to decide between the new Slash and this Stumpjumper Evo. Both seem outstanding and incredibly capable while being fairly versatile considering the amount of travel they have.

@TheLoamWolf4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Been riding it quite a bit just outside Seattle at Raging River, Duthie and Tiger. Been a blast so far. Duthie Hill does not have much more than maybe 100’ of elevation loss and has a good amount of flow trails with some some wicked jumps, the short setting on the chip and steep on the headset keeps it super playful. Further east the trails get significantly steeper and fast, slack setting on the headset and low on the chip gives it a significantly better feel for rowdy stuff. Really glad I did the S3 size 👍

What is your opinion on the stuntjumper vs the hightower? And what are the differences between the two especially when climbing? The adjustable geo on the stuntjumper is neat, but how much worse does the stuntjumper climb compared to the hightower?
@TheLoamWolf4 жыл бұрын
Well, they are both good bikes that have their inherent design characteristics. We all know VPP bikes climb amongst the best of them in terms of efficiency whereas FSR bikes have their own benefits in other situations. If climbing is a big factor for you and you spend lots of time going uphill, you'd probably like heh Hightower better, although with the shock's platform engaged, this is improved some over previous generations.
@iantaylor81904 жыл бұрын
@@TheLoamWolf So if we look at DW being a bench mark climber in my opinion. How do we think the horst package on this enduro evo compares with the DELTA link on Evils. This is for a climbing, rocky/rooty trails with same ups as downs. Would be interested on your opinions.
@JaimetheNomad Жыл бұрын
Anyone have thoughts if the Stumpy Evo would be too close to a SC Nomad? Or different enough to own both bikes? Obviously different bikes and the Nomad has a bit more travel. But if I’m keeping my Nomad would the Stumpy EVO still fit nicely in the quiver?
@fullpullmtb Жыл бұрын
Yo, this is Cole from the review. I would say they are pretty comparable. I actually just ordered the alloy frame option. Pretty stoked to give it some more time!
@JaimetheNomad Жыл бұрын
@@fullpullmtb thanks for your input! I actually ended up building up a stumpy EVO also. I find myself riding both it and the Nomad and enjoy them for different reasons. The stumpy EVO is a Very capable bike, even on the steeps. But the Nomad gives a little extra confidence when it gets really steep. Actually, I just got back from 2 weeks in Bellingham, it was my first time there and I had an epic time!!

Hi, great review. please, would you be able to compare it with new Specialized Enduro? I want to get 2021 Enduro or Stumjumper Evo but cant decide which one would be better for me. I ride bike parks (not huge jumps) on weekends but during the week just a local trails where I must climb some hillls.
@TheLoamWolf4 жыл бұрын
The Enduro is going to be a lot more fun in the bike park, it still pedals pretty darn good. I like to be over biked personally. With that said the EVO in the low settings is quite the machine! Overall with lot's of days in the park you will be happy with the Enduro
@burddog07924 жыл бұрын
Seems like a solid choice for the one bike to do all. The Comp is the model I'd go for. Wonder if they'll come out with an AL model to compete with the Ripmo AF? Regular Stumpy will probably just be this 150F/140R Fox 34/RS and inline shock.

I love the idea of adjusting HTA separate from BB height. I have a lot of long rocky climbs and steep, narrow traverses that a low BB is a no-go, but I still want a slack HTA coming down. Other days on beginner level climbs and buffed out descents a low BB is welcomed. EVO could be a 1 bike quiver, even with a piggy 3lbs over my SB6.

@@TheLoamWolf heh 'Loam' really appreciate the reply, thinking of a frame swap with a 2018 Enduro 29 medium which I find a bit small @ 5'10" not sure where to start when an s3 reach isn't that much longer - know you've tried them all so your thoughts appreciated
@TheLoamWolf4 жыл бұрын
@@TheS4jordan I would say get the numbers in front of you and compare it to your current bike. Sounds like maybe a S4 with a shorter stem might be the ticket for you? Running it in the high setting on the chip will still keep it snappy through the tight stuff. Definitely try and find one at a LBS to swing a leg over, that always solves it for me! My personal bike has a reach of 480mm so the S3 is a fair bit shorter but I really enjoyed it and have been trying some smaller bikes since we got this bike in.

@@TheLoamWolf Asking them questions was great - more of that! I'd have loved for you to have dug more into why someone would pick this over the Enduro though - every review says that bike pedals really well, not just really well for a 170mm bike, but actually really well.
