Congratulations on your new boat, she is a real beauty. You have done such a nice job on your additions matching original equipment. Please do not take offense but I couldn't help but notice your wiring for the added rear cabin light is sub par and could be a hazard. Check ABYC for Marine Wiring Standards, your splice should marine grade connectors, not household wire nuts. Enjoy your new boat, I for one am a little green with envy.....Al

I agree with your assessment of my work on the light. I have since changed it to waterproof marine grade butt connectors. In all honesty, I might have left it as is, but the wire nuts were causing a rattling against the roof frame when I was trolling. Lol.

I did the same regarding the 2500 vs 2250. The 2250 is the perfect size imho. I love how you took the time to go thru and give honest opinion and tell what adjustments you made. I will be doing the same when I get mine hopefully next year. Again,… thank you for taking the time to make the video. There are just not enough true owner videos of the 2250. Take care and be safe.

I have an "in-depth" walkthrough coming soon on the 2250. I'll be going through a few things I missed in the first 2 videos as well. Stay tuned.

You remind me of a guy I used to watch on KZbin years ago. He used to go by Halibu77. Is that you? I used to enjoy watching his videos on his Hobie kayaks. He was always quite thorough with his explanations of what he was doing and why as you were in this video. I am considering a Stabicraft as well and I really enjoyed watching this video. I have been looking for real world videos rather than "marketing" videos that only show everything working perfectly as is and in unrealistically pristine conditions. Thanks for taking the time to make this video and I look forward to seeing some more videos of this craft in action. Specifically the fishability of the vessel. Love the bigger live well. As far as the tight lids I would just sand down the area where they rub against each other to avoid the tight contact removing just enough to allow free movement. I would not "cut" the edge off of one or the other because you will probably end up with too much of a gap allowing water from the live well to be coming up through the crack in rough seas. It is, of course, your call though. Beautiful boat and I love those plush captains chairs. Enjoy brother! Be safe out there and tight lines.

Thank you for taking the time to show your new boat. I would like to know how much lead time between final order and delivery for you with the shipping issues? How was your dealer with picking out your options for the boat? How did you like or dislike the process? And then finally who did you purchase through and would you use them again or look elsewhere? Thanks again you did a good job.

I initially had a boat on order with Boat Country in Washington. A few months after putting the deposit and a couple months before production was to start, I was notified that there was a price hike from Stabicraft and that I can cancel my order if I didn't want to pay the 7.5% increase. From there, I set out to find a dealer with a 2250 in stock and found probably the last one in the country for 2021, at Clemens Marina in Oregon. I then cancelled my order with Boat Country and got my deposit back. There were no hard feeling there. It is what it is and anyone buying a Stabi in 2022 will see a higher boat cost due to demand and the current economic climate we are in today. Clemens wanted 10% down to secure the boat and then the balance before starting any official paperwork once the boat was ready to be picked up. As far as picking electronics, my sales guy Ryan was very knowledgeable on Garmin stuff. I wanted either Garmin or Simrad and settled on Garmin because one, my old boat had Garmin so I would be familiar with the electronics and two, it was easier to get than Simrad. The process was pretty easy. For one, cash is all they really deal in if you are out of state. Getting all the equipment was relatively easy. I wanted a particular radio and transducer (Airmar) so I bought that myself and shipped it to Clemens. The rest, they bought. They do all the rigging. To be quite honest, the rigging was not up to expectations as I mentioned in the 4 part walkthrough of the boat. I will most likely be redoing it in the offseason of 2022. I don't think you can really go wrong with any dealer. There are only a few in the US, so pick one based on cost, ease of communication, etc. Shipping wise, I used an outside guy who basically towed it from Oregon to California. That was easy and no problems there as it was a 10 hour one way trip. We considered driving up to pick it up, but that would most likely make it a 3 day journey and I didn't want to do that. One thing I will recommend is be explicit with what you want. If you don't mention it, they will choose it for you. A good example is the engine and propeller. I really wanted the 250 with fly by wire, but like I said, I wasn't explicit. No biggie, I am fine with what I got. There are pros and cons to all systems. And the prop, they chose the prop because at the time, i didn't know what I wanted. That being said, the prop they outfitted me with is a recommendation per Honda's prop selector, but there was a question of efficiency that knowing what I know now after my research, I will most likely get better efficiency from a different prop. I did order that prop so we will see if it actually gives me what I hope it will. If not, I know the prop will still be good for what I want to do and I will at minimum, have a spare prop, which I recommend everyone have. Today, I saw a guy dunk his boat in the water with the outboard down and the prop wedged itself into the ramp and broke the tilt function and the prop was trashed. It is not hard to damage the prop, so it is always a good idea to have a spare. Cheers.

How does it handle in the water compared to the Hewescraft?
@bsumoba
@bsumoba 2 жыл бұрын
With the foam insulation, there is less noise due to the water slapping the hull when drifting. There is also less noise when traveling. Handling, they are both similar, but the difference is in swells. The stabicraft tends to sit into a swell versus the Hewescraft, which sort of nose dives into it more.

How'd you get your anchor? I have the first one imported into the USA and still waiting for the anchor system that I paid for with the boat a year ago. Dean in Roseburg, OR

Mine came with the boat so I'm not sure. I thought the dealer would've delivered the boat with everything you ordered. I know someone who is still waiting on an engine and he had his boat sitting at the dealer longer than mine. He is getting a Yami motor.

How does your truck tow it? I just got an 1850 and already want a bigger one lol
@bsumoba
@bsumoba 2 жыл бұрын
Tows fine on flats. On very steep grades, the truck needs some help. I wouldn't use my truck if you were constantly pulling it up and down hills or mountains on a frequent basis.

What is the height in the cabin?
@bsumoba
@bsumoba 2 жыл бұрын
6 foot 3 inches to clear the roof, but it does open up a bit when you get in with maybe an additional 2 inches inside before you hit the roof handle bars
