I would buy it again. In terms of what I like and don't like, there isn't much that I don't like. I use the boat strictly for fishing and some minor cruising, but for the most part, it is a fishing boat, so it doesn't have the amenities like a standing head, a heater (although some 2250s have diesel heaters), or full side to side cabin space. The cuddy space is sufficient for 2-3 kids or 1-2 adults and thats all I really needed it for. The boat in rough water is quite lovely. I always felt safe and the high gunnels and pontoons make you feel even more protected. The key is to understand how to drive the boat in rough water. For example, my dad can drive the boat and he can make it a tad rougher because he doesn't quite understand how to quarter a swell or read the swells, so he runs it a bit slower. But for me, I have been able to outrun other similar sized boats out of a less than ideal inlet or harbor entrance because I trust that the boat can handle the conditions. If you have any questions about wiring or upgrades, I've done quite a bit, including rewiring the whole boat because I didn't like the way they did it and I also incorporated separate agm starter batteries for the engines and have a 200A lithium for the house electronics, which are charged off the engine alternators through a victron dc to DC charger or via an external battery charger while on land. I also added a 7 inch screen and a syonix nightwave NV camera and IR POD lights. I also have two pumps for the bilge, one of which is a gulper pump that can handle debris, and raw water pump for the fishbox for bleeding and to keep crab alive when crabbing. A 2750 would be nice, but it would have forced me to get another truck to tow it (I tow with a V6 F150 w/ a 9K max tow capacity) and that truck would have been a bit light for a 2750 sized boat. And...for my type of fishing, there isn't much need for a bigger boat. I can launch this boat myself and it is manageable for me. A 2750 would be a tad more work and at tad more difficult. I have my captains license for 6 pack charters, which I am not doing quite yet, and I think this boat is perfectly fine for bringing 2-3 people.

@CZAR61211 I am doing all electronics with Johnson Hicks in santa cruz . How is the boat in following seas ? Are you able to run 70 miles offshore ? Is that a honda 250? What is top speed and mpg at cruise ? I sold my Raider coastal and I did like the boat but not in following seas . Got sideways a few times in rough water . Thank you for your quick response

I usually go out of san fran to the farrallons , bodega bay and fort bragg for tuna . Would this boat be enough ? Will it handle good under the golden gate ? I usually fish with 3 more guys 4 total. Don't care for the amenities and honestly when I looked at the 2750 it looked bigger but I didn't need all that cabin space . Liked the 2250 what I ordered . I hope I won't regret it ... these boats are quite expensive Let me know your thoughts

@@Carsandfishing I never had problems in a following sea in this boat and I think this is in part due to the shape of the transom (gamechaser). I think that design tends to keep the boat a bit straighter in following seas. I do have to be aware of the bow and the trim of the engine to keep maximum bow lift in a following sea. I have never taken water over the bow in a following sea. I have taken spray over the bow in choppy waters and/or a nasty crosswind but I think that is not avoidable in most boats. Based on my estimated 3.1-3.3 mpg at 25-28mpgh cruise, I calculated that I can comfortably do 65-70 miles one way, no problem. I have done 45 miles out of Bragg and will be doing potentially longer runs in the next couple months for BFT . I would maybe carry one or two 5 gallon cans in case, but I based my comfort factor assuming 15-20% reserve, so you may not even need the cans, but it is nice insurance to have. WOT is 44-45mph at 6050rpm range. This is with a 4 blade prop, which seems to help with bow lift as well.

@@Carsandfishing You will not regret the boat. 3-4 people is typical for me as well. but running 5-6 people is not uncommon when rockfishing. There are really only 5 seats on the boat, but I have guys sitting right on side where the step is to get to the sides . A lot of the time, it is just me and pops and that is nice too. Farallon runs are no problem. I have gone to Rittenburg in the boat and have been on a buddy's 2250 (same boat and he lives near SC also) and we launched out of HMB and ran to the north island. Running in and around the GG or Pt. Bonita is also not a problem. I'm not sure if you got suspension seats, but I upgraded mine to Shoxs X8 pedestals and the Stabicraft helm seat. The suspension seats were mainly for my mom, who is sensitive to swells and these just make it a bit nicer for her. These also help when running, especially if I want to give my feet a rest, sit on the seats, turn on the AP and relax.

The cover comes stock with the boat. There is a plastic divider between the two lugs as well.

@@bsumoba thanks for the reply. My boat came with the terminals too, but no post covers (terminal boots) and we got arching and shorting before it was noticed. Had to rectify this deficiency on my own as the manufacturer and dealer seemed to have overlooked the matter.

Yes, very small tabs for the size of boat. When I have an imbalanced boat because of people off to one side for example, it normally takes me about 1/2-2/3 adjustment to get the boat to react and balance out.

I've done this already and at running, the roof is still pointed down. The 4 degree wedge is perfect at cruising/running speeds. It may not sound like a lot, but the 4 degrees makes a huge difference.

@@GGOH-cq6rc Yes I have, multiple times with the Stabicraft. I try to stay away from low tide though. Otherwise, Alviso is no problem.

Size of the internal beam is adequate for being a fishing boat. If you want more ammenities, a 2500XL is probably your best bet.

Tows fine on flats. On very steep grades, the truck needs some help. I wouldn't use my truck if you were constantly pulling it up and down hills or mountains on a frequent basis.

When I turn on the nav light switch, the anchor and nav lights go on. When I only do the anchor light switch, only cthe anchor light turns on. Essentially, I cannot do nav lights without the anchor light turning on also.

Exactly right. Navigation lights are the full set. The anchor lamp by itself is for when you are motionless - obviously at anchor. When you are underway, the anchor light becomes both the masthead (225deg) and stern lamp (135deg). There is no legal position to have just the sidelights on. 👍

There is a bit of variable deadrise. If I'm not mistaken, the deadrise is 17 degrees at the stern.

​@@bsumoba Hmm, that's interesting. My Weldcraft 22 Maverick has a greater deadrise at the bow entry and forward than the stern so I'd thought your Stabi would be similar. Do you know what your forward deadrise is?

@@VJBILL1 I was mistaken. It is 17 at the stern. I am not sure what it is at bow entry and forward deadrise, but it is variable and has a larger angle deadrise at the bow.

@@VJBILL1 I measured the deadrise. It is about 45 degrees at bow entry, 22 degrees forward and 17 at the stern.

6 foot 3 inches to fully clear the roof. Inside, there is a couple additional inches when you are at the helm.

My understanding is that if you get the option for the heater, it does come with vent holes for the windows as well as a vent for the exhaust on the side of the hull. I do not think it is easy to add it in after the fact and I would most likely have to go with an aftermarket heater if I did it now. That being said, the WT has a door, so a heater would work on that boat. In the UCC, it is just a vinyl drop cover (no door). I do not think a heater is 100% necessary in my neck of the woods though.

With the foam insulation, there is less noise due to the water slapping the hull when drifting. There is also less noise when traveling. Handling, they are both similar, but the difference is in swells. The stabicraft tends to sit into a swell versus the Hewescraft, which sort of nose dives into it more.

I agree with your assessment of my work on the light. I have since changed it to waterproof marine grade butt connectors. In all honesty, I might have left it as is, but the wire nuts were causing a rattling against the roof frame when I was trolling. Lol.

I've seen those rod holders and plan to probably switch to those when/if the current ones either get damaged. For the bait tank, I have considered a drain from the rear of the tank that simply spills onto the transom, but I think I have a good plan for the larger 1.5" drain and how to do it. I will post a video about it when it is complete.
