Very helpful, hands-on tutorial that provides easy explanations of the car's features. The dealer never explained any of this when I purchased the car but that may be because this dealership sells all makes and models and no one person can possibly know all the features of every vehicle. Unless you have a couple of hours to read the user manual, this tutorial makes it almost obsolete. Thank you for posting.

2023, 11/26. Just got a Ascent. Dealership said nothing about this! I'm new to all the electronic features. Had no clue, glad you posted information. Should be 1 shut off / On switch made for car wash mode. This is kinda annoying. So I gotta write me a reminder list..😑. Crazy.. But thanks 👍

You can make this adjustment in your settings on the screen. It allows you to choose which doors you want to automatically lock/unlock upon entering/exiting the vehixl.

thanks this video.The car is excellent and I have been using it since September 2021 until now after 5650 miles. Gasoline consumption in the city is 15 miles per gallon. Is this a normal rate? It has been said that it should consume 20 miles per gallon. What do you think?

I have two baby car seats on the second row. whenever I open the driver’s seat, the whole interior dome lights light up, waking up the kids in frown. the ascent only lets you keep the map lights off, and lacks the function to keep the dome lights off when any door opens.. any tricks or hidden function or after market circuits to help?

I have this model and one day I must have accidentally hit a setting switch that showed my speed in large digits on the dash board and I LOVED it. The info button changes what displays on the multifunction display just above it in the center of the dash. It shows time/date, interior temp controls, exterior temp, mpg, etc

The BSD on/off switch is on the left hand side of the dash just in front of your left knee. When you turn it on, the side mirrors will light up temporarily to show you that it's on. When turned off, it will illuminate on the dash in orange telling you that it's off.

The Ascent is actually one of the few Subaru models that don’t have the auto start stop feature. The manual transmission Crosstrek, wrx and brz also don’t have it

Hi Jodie, the alternative is to purchase the remote start keyfob and have it programmed. The last time I had this done it was around $750 for parts plus labor (they take about the dash and center console so it's a big job). The keyfob will also only start and stop the car, it won't allow you to control your climate, lock/unlock the car, and/or track the car if needed like the mysubaru app does through starlink. The lowest price plan for a used Subaru is to get the 3 yr subscription which is $300. Once you're signed up on the mysubaru app, you're ready to go. No parts are required to be installed. It's important to note that in order to use the mysubaru app for remote start, you have to have the push button start with keyless access. Hope this helps!

On a new Subaru you should get your oil changed every 6,000 miles with full synthetic.

I was AMAZED that with all the electronic gadgets, the Subaru Ascent (2021) does NOT alert you to when you need an oil change. My 2008 Ford Explorer had that option for goodness sakes. BUT, if you buy a new one the dealer will send you an email when your oil change is due, so I guess that's good enough. (I don't know if that service is offered on a used car). It's not easy to remember where 6,000 miles have elapsed from the last change after you have a lot of miles on your vehicle.
