Not if you want manual. I bought a 6 speed manual so I got the 2.0 premium.... but when paired with a manual the 2.0 is quite a bit more responsive then it is with that CVT. they should make a loaded 2.5 with a manual Still, I'm happy with it. @Hexsyn3 жыл бұрын
@@sagniksingha so I am some 3 months into ownership, just over 4k miles driven, so I would consider myself past the honeymoon period and into the "early inpressions" experience, but by no means an experienced owner. So far I very much love my crosstrek. Thankfully I don't seem to have any factory defects, so everything is working as it should. One of the things I enjoy most is the acceleration being quite peppy, but the gas milage sticking reliably between 30 and 31 mpg. I came from 15 years owning a 2003 taurus, so I very much had been accustomed to a sluggish engine and 22ish combined mpg, so these factors really stand out for me. I am really looking forward to the upcoming winter season since the taurus was a very capable front-wheel-drive snow sedan that got me through many a Montana winter with just normal all-season (not even all-weather) tires. One final thing I want to note is that I actually find the keyless entry, locking, and ignition to be way more of a perk than I ever expected. I am pretty much an older curmudgeonly man beyond my years in many ways, including not really caring to have lane centering and barely caring about the infotainment, so I fully expected that I wouldn't care about not needing to get keys out of my pocket for all operations of my car. As it turns out, it is really nice to just keep my keys in my pocket and still work all the functions of my daily drive! Much to my disappointment in my own degradation of moral fiber, I now find myself annoyed when I have to pull out my physical keys to enter my apartment lol One final criticism I DO have to make though is that I am still a bit annoyed by the feel and behavior of the CVT and auto-on-off function, both of which I still have trouble predicting and which surprise me with unusual feeling behavior from time to time.

Thank you for doing this one! A few years ago (after both kids were grown and gone 😊), I downsized from a Honda Pilot to a Nissan Versa Note (2016 from Hertz Used). I'm still very happy with it. But I like driving & traveling, and am toying with the idea of occasional car-camping. It's doable in the Note, I suppose, for one person, maybe, but...haven't tried it yet. 😆 But the Crosstrek looks like it might be a (slightly) better deal for that. And it would also be nice to have a little more space to transport things, when needed. I'm not in a hurry, but I was thinking maybe the next step might be a Crosstrek. I really don't want to get back to the size/low mpg of a Pilot! And I don't need a lot more space for car-camping. The other thing that entices me on this one is that it's available in Std Transmission! I learned to drive with a stick, and really really miss it! I miss the feeling of control that it gives. So, still considering this one! Thanks! 😄 PS: I would LOVE if you might include in your reviews of similar vehicles (SUVs/hatchbacks) a quick look at how much space could be used for a sleeping arrangements! That's getting more popular these days! LOL

Great review, I recently picked up my 2021 Crosstrek sport. The engine auto stop makes no sense especially on wear and tear components and I live in Houston, Tx and a lot of stop and go traffic and it's annoying because it is not subtle what so ever. You have to remember to push the button to turn it off every time you start the car. I know there is a chip that can be installed to permanently turn it off but can not confirm if it will void the warranty. If it doesn't will be definitely installing.

I agree with both points. There's a high likelihood they'll drop stickshifts from their lineup altogether next year to comply with the 2022 Federal mandate for automatic emergency braking, which they never bothered to implement on their manual transmission vehicles.
@XanMan_053 жыл бұрын
@@confidentlocal8600 That is the first time I’m hearing anything like this, I live in Canada so that would make sense why I haven’t heard anything. That makes me outraged, it’s not like people are stupid enough to not press the brake in an even of an accident. With that being said, I do think they can and will implement the technology into Manuals, however it may take a while.
@confidentlocal86003 жыл бұрын
@@XanMan_05 Oh, it's absolutely possible to make it work with manual transmissions. Toyota and VW both have systems that work with MT. Subaru just hasn't bothered to do so. They also chronically under-allocate MT Crosstreks at dealers. Outside the WRX, your average real-world Subaru buyer is mechanically clueless and doesn't know the difference between a manual gearbox and the little paddle buttons controlling a CVT. Most WRX's are sold with manuals, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop the MT option in the name of "safety" just to give enthusiasts the middle finger like they've been for several years now. Easily half the drivers in my area are messing with their phones in traffic. It's a sad state of affairs.
@XanMan_053 жыл бұрын
@@confidentlocal8600 I absolutely agree, attitudes that cars are just appliances is an atrocious way to think. You have to stoop to a new level to think that way, but we survive even though other think these ways. I realize that Crosstrek MTs are at a low volume, however special orders still exist. I wouldn't be surprised if Subaru pulled the Manuals from the Impreza and Crosstreks however, I have hope in my heart that they will shine through and engineer it like Toyota and VW.
