2021 Sym Jet X 125 L/C - Review

I own this bike since June 2021 and have done 7000 already, and the biggest advice I can give to new owners is, the day you buy it drive directly to a tire shop and replace the CST tires with Michelin City Grip 2, or any other premium tire, and throw the CST in the garbage! The bike changes dramatically with premium tires, it is like driving a completely different bike, trust me.

some people say that the plastic "hump" develops cracks after couple years and 3x.xxx kilometers because of the degradation of plastics and flexing of the frame. I was quite surprised they didnt reinforced that frame and that the middle section is just plastics. Strange.

I've seen only one with a crack. I don't think it's that common.

I bought one brand new.Now 400 km on clock. But 200 cc air cooled model.I think same engine specs as 'Donnie' but more aerodynamic and lower in height.So far so good. I bought earplugs,air cooled seems too noisy,I am only 100 kms away,to finish break in period,and to see what capable of this is. If that guy in your channel did 100k with Jet 14,I am really thinking to do the same. I will buy an aero windshield later on,some after market suspensions YSS,and definetly Michelin Tires,with 120 rear.

I enjoyed the video. I am not sure if you mentioned it but the jet x 125 l/c abs is 12.6 hp in comparison to a few of the others. I am currently upgrading from a sym symphony sr 125 abs a/c to this one. The reason being is 1. the additional horse power, 2. they keyless access and the digital console. I was going to get the sym symphony st 125 l/c but they were all out and I did not feel like waiting. Basically, the way I see it the st 200 has 12.5 hp and the st 125 l/c and the jet x 125 lc have 12.6 hp. In short I am getting a 200, well sort of, for the price of a 125cc. I do enjoy all your videos. PS> love the name you gave your bike "Donnie." My current bike is " Irene" and the jet X will be "Penny." Take care and be safe.

Thank you, it's a solid machine the jet x and that 125 lc engine is a gem, I like my 200 because it's a bit more old school but the 125 is a proper modern engine in every way.

I love it, but lately the handle bars have become wobbly even on evenly paved roads, even when I steer with both hands. When I take one hand off it really wobbles. Any ideas? Yes... I will take it in to the dealer.

1:15 Passenger rear handle doesn't look the same as on the Jet 14, but the mounting points are identical so luggage rack options are the same SYM accessory model number. So you could get the Jet 14 Shad luggage rack, and I got the generic one that you can mount other top case plates to (also a OEM Jet 14 part).

I tried the givi top case mount for the jet14 on the jetx and it doesn't fit, so there are a few differences. But at least from givi there is a dedicated top case mount for the jetx

​@@RideWithAlex Interesting, my SYM dealership said they were the same part number, I ordered the Jet X "rear carrier" which the french SYM parts site says is Jet 14 and Jet X compatible, SYM part number: SY810-X8A-000 . Maybe it's a Givi third-party specific thing?

Yesterday I picked up my 2022 SYM Jet X 125 L/C. My first impression is that it drives like a 200cc. With 13 hp and the fact that it's liquid cold as you know better makes it a lot faster than your averege 125cc. I noticed quite a difference going up hills in the engine itself in the way the bike behaves. have a little bit a ways to go to get used to the keyless ignition and the fact that if I move away from it it'll lock in when I try to unlock it so I can turn the handlebar to lock it it starts beeping. But that's a matter of getting to know the machine. I'm loving it! The only thing I see is that it burns fuel a lot faster than my SR 125 A/C.

Normally the liquid cooled is much more fuel efficient then the air cooled. Let it brake in a little the fuel consumption should drop.

Got my jet x. I tried to go top speed with a passenger on the scooter . One time it went 115kms and it had more to go. But the other day when I was on a road that was going slightly upwards again with a passenger it couldn’t pass 80kms. The wind was strong though. Why you think there is such a big difference on performance? Maybe the upwards road and maybe the engine was cold?

It's still just a 12hp engine so the terrain or the wind can influence your top speed a lot.

Fairly novice when it comes to scooters but had a sym crox from new back in 2017 for 2 years then stopped riding, looking to get back on so I've booked my cbt for next Sunday, (I'm UK based BTW) can anyone give me recommendations on what scooter to buy, torn between Honda pcx jet x jet 14 or something completely different if people think its worth it, any help would be much appreciated thanks. Thank you, I would go for the jet14 liquid cooled because you get front and rear abs and it should be cheaper than the jet x and has a flat floor for shopping, the pcx I'm still waiting for Honda to put a disk brake on the rear 🙄

Nu știu dacă ești plătit de Sym dar m-ai convins :)) caut sa cumpăr un Scooter nou prin Rabla Moto, pentru curierat (Glovo) și daily driver/comuter. Răcirea pe lichid, aspectul (mai ales) si keyless go-ul sunt câteva dintre aspectele care m-au adus la Sym Jet X 125. Luni cred ca voi merge la Sym Romania pentru a îl vedea. Din păcate am permis A din 2018-19 (nici nu mai stiu), dar nu am apucat sa comduc niciodată de când l-am luat. Consideri ca pot obține o idee despre Scooter (dacă e de mine) și fără a-l conduce? Și 3 alte intrebari: 1) Ce înălțime ai? Părea ca atingi cu vârfurile jos, as vrea sa pot sta cu tălpile la semafor, nu sa ma chinui. 2) Este mai lat decat 14? Crezi ca ma pot strecura cu el în trafic? Mainly va fi folosit ptr. Glovo deci trebuie sa pot ajunge primul la semafor. 3) Exista suport ptr. Portbagaj? Vreau sa montez un suport custom ptr. A îmi putea rezema geanta Glovo pe parcursul cursei. Și exista posibilitatea instalării unui windshield mai înalt? Îți mulțumesc! Iar dacă crezi ca as putea conduce unul din scuterele tale în zona unde e filmarea, contra cost, te rog anunta-ma. Mi-ar fi de mare folos. Nu trebuie sa fie Jet X-ul, any old beaten scooter, cât sa îmi reamintesc "miscarea", înainte de a cumpăra Jet X-ul.

In materie de plătit, eu lucrez la Sym România dar pe partea de piese de schimb consumabile etc iar canalul asta de KZbin este al meu personal și nu sunt plătit în nici un fel pt aceste videouri, de regula le filmez eu singur în weekend când Showroomul e închis, dar ma găsești in showroom, iar curtea este locul unde se afla Showroomul, momentan avem în showroom un jetx poate fi văzut, poți sa te urci pe el, nu îl putem scoate în curte ca e deja vândut, dar sa stai pe el în showroom se poate. Săptămâna viitoare va fi urat și ploaie deci nu as scoate nimic la test din mai multe motive. Dar poți veni și putem discuta toate aspectele și poți sta pe mai multe modele sa vezi pe care te simți cel mai bine.

Și încă ceva, da se poate monta suport de top case pe jetx și este suficient de compact cât sa se descurce foarte bine în traffic, sunt câțiva care îl folosesc pe glovo și sunt foarte mulțumiți de el.

Got this bike a week ago. The dealership told me that for the first 1.000 km, I shouldn't go over 50 km/h and to not accelerate that fast. The manual doesn't say that though. Who should I trust?

In the brake in period you have to use the engine in a more gentle fashion, 50 is a bit harsh, on my ST I kept it at around 60-70 max speed

@@55spiros1 for engine break in. Vary speed to 30 to 40mph. Dont keep at a constant speed. Avoid full throttle. As soon as you get to 311miles. Your first service is due. Once that's done you can then go to 45 to 50mph. Until 900miles. 2nd service is due. Once that's done you can then fully open throttle. The 2nd service is expensive as it involves new rollers, belt, valve clearances. Oil change and gearbox oil change.

What about the wires for the breaks? They look like they block the full view of the screen. I really like this scooter but every video I have seen those wires always seem to be in the way of the dash, especially blocking the lower part of it. Compared to the Honda PCX, which also has digital dash but its still fully visible and its brake wires don't seem to be so noticeable. Maybe it's because of the angle in the videos....but please tell me if it's like that in real life because I do want to buy either this scooter, the PCX, or the Honda Forza (125) sometime next year.

The dash is perfectly visible, it's the angle of the camera, go to a dealership and sit on one for yourself, you will see the wires are much lower then the dash.

Because that is the alarm system, the scooter is locked, you can still start it with the physical key but if you don't press the unlock button the alarm is still active and detects movement and flashes the lights.

If you look at the jet14 liquid cooled 125cc it is mechanically identical to the jetx, they share the same engine transmission frame everything the only difference is the JET 14 has a flat floor and the Jetx has the handlebars 2cm higher, the way they look of course. Also go and try sitting on them because the leg room and the leg position is a bit different on them and see which on you like. But mechanically they are identical. So it all depends which one do you like the most and which one fits you the best.

Grea decizie, momentan favoritul meu la 125cc este ADX-ul dar asta pentru ca sunt eu mai special. Recomandarea mea este sa le vezi pe toate in persoana si sa stai pe ele. Cel mai bun value for money este M125 dar trebuie sa vezi daca esti tu comfortabil pe el.

Nu am luat in considerare ADX pentru că m am gandit ca platesc partea de offroad care pentru mine va fi inexistentă, chiar am de gand sa schimb si cauciucurile cu ce recomandai tu in alte clipuri. La fel partea cu pasagerul este importantă, adx PARE ca nu are cel mai generos spatiu pentru pasager. Am venit zilele trecute, dar nu te am găsit, am stat pe jet X insă la momentul respectiv am avut o parere preconceputa(proasta) despre cele chinezesti asa ca nu i am dat nicio sansa lui m125. O să revin !!!

All Euro 5 scooters from SYM are fuel injected, from 49cc to the big TL508, everything is fuel injected here.

What is difference between ABS and CBS model? Is it big deal if it is whithout ABS (just whith CBS)? One year ago, every Jet x 14 had ABS. After that, there were model whith ABS and cheaper model whith CBS (200 € cheaper). Now there is just cheaper version whith CBS, whithout ABS. Is that correct? Thank you for answer. It is hard to find facts for SYM on internet. You are doing big job for them, trust me.

CBS - Combined Braking System - It means when you pull the rear brake it also engages 30% front brake ABS - Anti-lock Braking System - front and rear brakes are independent and if you lock a wheel it will automatically release the brake for a split second so the wheel regains traction.

@@stevolepetic7580 it's because of the microchip shortage, ABS is an electronic system and it needs a microprocessor to work, CBS is a mechanical system. It's not really that big of a deal for a 125cc

I know Honda And Yamaha Are big names known for their quality products, Is sym on same level as them? I dont have much knowledge on sym And zero experience with it. All three machines Are for same Price in czech republic (nmax too few days ago)So can sym be compared to those two in terms of quality? Sorry for that messy text i type this on czech keyboard. :D

@@dr.7828 Ok, first thing, I used to have a 2019 Sym symphony ST 50cc and did 46.000km in 18 months with no problems, now I have a 2021 symphony st200 with 16.000km and again no problems. What I like about Sym is that they have the same quality as Honda but the all the parts and the services are half price at least here in Romania. So just as reliable but half price to maintain and service 🤷🏻‍♂️ for me it's a no brainer to just go for Sym.

It's 3295 here, a bit more expensive here because Romania has a small motorcycle and scooter market and everything is a bit more expensive because of shipping and storage.

Could you give me a piece of advice, please: I have had it with the Bucharest traffic and I am looking for a scooter… as of this spring. The distance to the office is about 25km and I have to travel on the DN1 and or ring ring-road and/or highway (about 5…10km). I have an A driver’s license as well, used to ride a bike (Kawa KLE, about 10 years ago), but lost the riding skill … My budget would be of 3k euro (give or take), so I would really appreciate your opinion on a model / type, etc…

For this kind of trip the absolute best option would be the Joymax Z+ or the HD300, but given the budget either the jet 14, jet X or Symphony ST 125 L/C will do the job nicely. If you don't carry a lot of luggage I would go for the Jet X. If you want more storage space the Symphony ST. But when spring comes drop by the showroom and we can talk more in depth.

Sincer asta doar un vopsitor îți poate spune, carenele ca piese de schimb vin deja vopsite în culoarea scuterului atunci când le comanzi.

It's pitty that the storage space under the seat is so small due to a fuel tank. That seems to be the only (but serious) downside of this scooter.
