Question, I’m planning on buying the m3 sr plus or the Lr depending on price. I am wondering if the 2019 models(used) are a big difference from this years model? Is the noise and in the car from road and range much of a difference? I wonder if it is maybe worth buying a 2019 for less money. Most importantly is the battery and handling of the car imo. I just can’t find a good summary of every change they have made… China model or us model and which range they have depending on where they are manufactured . And should one go for the flp battery from China? I just took a long shot and asked you:) hopefully you have more info than me , appreciate any thoughts you might have. 🙏🏻

I test drove a Model 3 LR in autumn last year, also 120Wh/Km. Insanely efficient car. Tesla FTW. In Summer, and driving the car till shut down, it could hit 450km range. But not practical. 200-300km real world range car. No problem with the superb Supercharger network.
@AzizIzgin3 жыл бұрын
So in real world 200-300km with LR 2020 m3? Is that on motorways in average 110kmph ?
@kasmopaya26763 жыл бұрын
@@AzizIzgin I own a SR+ Model 3 now since July. I get 200-300 km range on the Autobahn in Germany with speeds from 130-230 km/h. On the Landstraße 100 km/h and city driving it could hit 400-500km range. So my estimates with the long range are off. LR probably does 100km more in every regard. So 300-400km on speedy Autobahn and 500-600km with city driving. Best car I ever owned. It all depends on how aggressive you treat the accelerator pedal. Because of the perfect supercharger network, SR+ is no problem for long distances. I drove 900km with no problems on my fist trip. I even got the energy for free from Elon, because we had flooding in that area and he made the superchargers cost free for a week. With energy efficient driving, I hit 123Wh/km again.(273km from 90-5%) So the range will increase dramatically, if you drive energy efficient. But I don't want that. ^^ This thing is a speed demon.

But also, I don't want the difference to be so much in handling of the car nor the contstruction of battery etc. For example is the charging speed the same between the 2019 and the 2021 and are they also constructed to be optimal for charging up to 100% like the china flp battery? Hey Bjørn, I've done a 90km/h Range test in Germany. I have the Model 3 MIC with LFP Batterie without heatpump. Yesterday we have 10-12°C outside and I have charged to 80% before I start the test. Tire pressure 3.1 bar. AC to 21°C auto. My Route was 50km one way and 50km back to the Supercharger. Consumption was 17kwh showed in BC. Charged 19kwh and Tesla booked me 18kwh. So with one is correct? I've done also a 130km/h test with the same conditions. BC says 24kwh, charged 26kwh and Tesla booked 25kwh. I think this is a very high consumption. You know 130km/h is standard for German Autobahn 😉 but with that high consumption the Model 3 MIC with LFP can't or can not easily hit the 200km range.
@jkev14253 жыл бұрын
You need to ask the write question. Do you want the consumption during the trip (What is the range with a single charge) oder do you want to know the costs for your trip (How much energy does it take with charging loss due to Impedanz and heating during charging) So both can be correct in your case

@TB the WLTP estimates for vehicle range are not similar to the US EPA estimates in two crucial ways, a. the EPA ranges are typically 20-25% lower than the WLTP, and b. this is because the WLTP estimates is based on a European cycle that is meant to promote diesel engine range, (and to underestimate the emissions as well). love the videos!! :D

Bjorn, do you measure the real kWh as the charger registers or the kWhs that the car is presenting? My M3LR uses 15-20% more kWh registered by my kWh meter at home, than it says in the carr. The car only registers the energy going to the electrical motors, so you dont see battery losses, heat, etc. I love the car but am somehow dissapointed by the actual range. I bought it as a 560km range, from day one it said 500, I've lost 6% in 50k and in colder weather it is impossible to come close to 400. And then when I charge it, it takes 15-20% more energy than it says it has used.
@bjornnyland3 жыл бұрын
Incorrect. The car measures heater, lights, etc also. Just try one run with heater/etc off and the exact same run with heater on 28°C and you will see the difference. It's a common misconception that Teslas don't count heater/etc. Probably because Teslas are so efficient... lol

It's great to see that there is some competition in the 60kwh market again in Norway. I feel that after the Ampera-e was sold out everyone increased the prices by 50k. Should do the same test with the Ioniq Gen1 with « summer » conditions... although the range is really lower, I still think the Ioniq is more efficient than the TM3.
@bjornnyland3 жыл бұрын
Nope, it's not. That was the case when comparing Model 3 LR (heavier) with Ioniq. But SR+ is lighter and even more efficient than before. Especially if it's hot outside. You should also know one other thing: Ioniq usually shows very incorrect speed. So when someone is testing at what they think is 90 km/h on the speedometer, the real speed could be as low as 84 km/h. Whereas Tesla at 90 km/h on speedometer is 88 km/h real speed. Head to head, Model 3 SR+ will beat classic Ioniq in both winter and summer.

@@bjornnyland And to be completely fair, Ioniq should rolling on 235-xx-18 wheels. Or put on Model 3 as narrow as 205s, i believe there are few 17" rims that can fit on non-performance brakes.

@@bjornnyland Your own numbers do not support this comment. You have never reported the summer range for the Ioniq as you only tested this cars at winter temperatures -3. I strongly suspect that the Ioniq will beat the Tesla SR+ for efficiency in the summer.

why are the UIs on these EV inspection apps always so bad?
@zocker16003 жыл бұрын
because (I know that from personal experience) developing a nice and pretty UI is very time consuming and considering that those apps are for free, written by programmers in their spare time, you really should not complain about that!
@caerphoto3 жыл бұрын
@@zocker1600 Leaf Spy Pro is £20. Car Scanner is £7. Many other apps cost money too. Also, so what if it's time consuming? It's part of the process of making an app for the general public. The UI doesn't even have to be "pretty", it just needs to at least look like some thought was given to usability, and some effort was made on presentation. Basic stuff like grouping related items visually, paying attention to spacing and alignment, choosing appropriate font sizes. I'm a software developer myself, and it dismays me how many people in this industry don't care about user experience, as if it's beneath them.
@zocker16003 жыл бұрын
@@caerphoto well then why do you not just create your own app yourself with an awesome UI and sell it for the same price? If UI is really that important, then your app should easily be able to outsell the competition

@@zocker1600 so the answer to criticism is just "why don't you do it better then"? Come on man, that's not how things work.
@zocker16003 жыл бұрын
@@caerphoto yes exactly, because criticizing is very easy, but doing it better is not and this is exactly how things work, it is a free market you know it is very simple: if it was easy to create a good UI, it would have been done, I doubt that they use a worse UI, because they want to or because they have fun to annoy their users.

And consider Tesla's come fitted with BIG tires, I bet that has a huge impact on overall efficiency. My Model Y comes with 255's, most of the competition has much narrower tires like the MME

I disagree. 235/45-18 is *not* big.

@@bjornnyland Would the 3 get lower wh/km numbers with a narrower tire like say a 215? I always thought tire width could impact ANY vehicles “fuel mileage”. Maybe I misunderstood that.
