Just bought a 2021 C-HR XLE - LOVE the combination of funky style and Toyota's solid (dare I say high end) build quality. She is so flashy. Inside and out, the layout and styling is brilliant! When I purchase a vehicle I always want something distinctive and special - this could very well become my favorite purchase ever. SO much vehicle for the price. HIGHLY recommend.

I just bought mine and it’s great for the size and value. I’m happy with mine and it keeps me focused on enjoying the ride and I feel safe with the features that do correct you back into the lane if you drift and also alert you of other cars that drift into your lane. I was impressed with the styling. As an artist this car appeals to my sense of forward design and futuristic functionality. The compact size means “buy less, enjoy more” and I don’t have to bring my CDs along for the ride anymore.

How is on the highway can it keep up with the other cars with that small motor I mean if you're doing 80 can it get there pretty easy or is it hard on the engine

Guess I'm a C HR enthusiast, as I bought the very 1st one my dealer sold - an '18 that I drove home 05.31.17. Bought it b/c I wanted something "fresh" that sits higher than a sedan, burns regular gas & gets 30 mpg (which I've averaged since new). It checked all my essential boxes - though it would benefit from AWD & a few more hamsters under the hood.... It's great on the highway - ride position offers good visibility, ride's smooth, quiet & cabin is cocoon-like. Rides like a larger vehicle, is firmly planted on the road & feels semi-sporty. Adaptive cruise allows me to drive hours w/o touching the pedals - which along w/ brake hold makes driving much less laborious. However, if being 1st off from the light is important, the C HR ain't for you!!! Power's fine once you're up to speed - w/ the engine's limitations being much more pronounced when starting from a dead stop & going uphill (as the CVT drones & engine takes its time...). Of the 6 Toyotas I've owned - incl a 2nd generation Lexus GS that I bought new - my C HR has been the best overall. Mine is an XLE Premium (top spec the 1st year) & pampers me fo sho. Advanced driver assistance features are so much more functional to me than power seats & a sunroof. After 5.5 yrs, it still feels "tight" & makes me smile when I approach it. Would buy it all over again. 😊

This intro was hilarious, Eric. Diamonds! Good humor throughout. Really enjoyable review. Almost looks like Toyota's version of the Nissan Juke. They toned back the wild just a little bit to make it more acceptable. I don't hate it, but it does seem to compromise usability a lot. Defeats the purpose of a CUV over a car. That rear door handle is truly an odd choice! 144HP really isn't much from a 2.0L these days either. Overall an odd product, but I'm sure the styling really does it for some people. If they made this with a turbo and AWD, I'd suddenly be infatuated. Obviously though, it wouldn't sell enough.

C-HRs are Functional HIGH RIDE vehicles (as in Corolla-HighRide > C-HR) offering ease of entry and egress for OLDER PEOPLE 5'8" -- 6'2" tall. The form/design was developed around this functionality: Form follows Function. Love it or Hate it: Easy to get in and out. The sporty sexy red 2021 Corolla SE sedan you reviewed last year is over 200 pounds lighter than this CHR, has 25 more horsepower, more torque, a CVT with a physical first gear so launches great off the line, and with it's large trunk has as much if not more cargo space than this CHR.
