So excited about this pocket rocket from the beginning. I own an Audi S1 which is quite good and fun for an Audi. You really enjoy driving it in the mountains and really twisty roads (I live in the Alps) this car can do anything very well But the sport feeling is not that good at the limit especially the brakes. I really want to test drive this GR Yaris, as a big rally Fan I would love to own it ! Thanks for the great video

Great review. I love your quirkiness, and your rambling, believe it or not. You speak off the top of your head, and I do, too. That’s what an honest review is. The only criticism I have is that I wish you could have done a walk around and shown more angles of the car; or maybe some drive by shots. But that’s ok, I can google photos of it. Very good job, anyway! I learned a lot! AWD in a hot hatch makes me happy any day.

A Subaru Impreza STi & Mistubishi Evolution for 2020. Such a shame Toyota UK are selling the top model Circuit Pack totally stripped of: JBL sound system, parking sensors, heads up display, rear traffic alert, illuminated entry, intercooler water spray, Touch 2 navigation, voice activation! The lower model, convenience pack, without the LSD's, has all the above on it, except Intercooler water spray - none of the accountants at Toyota UK have any knowledge that an Intercooler water spray is essential item on a rally road car!

@@rasch19785 It's a car impossible to replace really. The closest I've driven to the Evo is the new FK8 Civic Type R, but it doesn't have the same visceral and raw feeling. The older generation Megane RS 265 is not bad either but has a lazy engine.

@@sodazman I tested an RS trophy, yes it did break up at the top end, but a remap would have cured it. Good thing is my evo was sold to a friend, so I always see it, anyway, my GR yaris is here in 3 weeks, I'm sure it won't be long before the mappers start on it

@@sodazman I think a good 15% should be in it without any worries, 25% even.. It's after that where other modifications would be required I suppose But first you have to drive a car till its completely familiar and can't surprise you,then fit better tires and brake pads and see how much quicker it gets, only after that bump the power.

You mentioned your height twice, low roof and mirror below your eye line; how tall are you? Also, is the engine noise natural or does Toyota add 'sounds' through the stereo speakers like other have started to do?

Sorry - I'm 6'3". I think there's a bit of fake noise there, but not very much and it's not intrusive. You get quite an industrial noise in the cabin - it's not trying to sound like something it's not, if that makes sense

You mention Subaru, then you maybe remember the Subaru WRX 215hp and the STi with FORGED PISTONS and 265hp ... this "small" difference was between breaking the engine or not after a few thousand kilometers 15/20k max using the car as made for .. it will also happen with the Toyota which unfortunately did not follow in the footsteps of those who have more experience, too bad!

@@TimRodieDrivesStuff Thank you Tim. I get to test drive it in late January so it'll also be something to look forward to at that bleak time after Christmas. With any luck I can be driving daily in it by April some time. I've got a slightly modded (chip, filter, exhaust etc) 2004 Volvo V70R at the moment but I cant keep racking up the miles in it as it's on 140,000 miles now and expensive upkeep. I need something more fun to drive around or I would keep doing just that. This GR will be perfect as I love driving so much that it almost hurts. All I need from a daily is fun and enough room for some shopping and my daughter. The Volvo can do the rest. Feeling blessed as I write this tbh despite having had a very traumatic 2020. Love your review and just subscribed. Peace ✌
