I have other videos in the Tundra Trans play list that cover that aspect with a custom tablet gauge setup. Before and after readings on two mechanically identical trucks on the same afternoon doing the same test loop. Check it out for evidence. And on my truck before and after for that matter.

@@DirtE30 Sir I told Toyota dealership I was going to do this and they had 2 mechanics that said it was unnecessary. I really don't believe them so I contacted a Toyota mechanic who has a channel on here called "The Car Care Nut" expressing my concerns to him and he also told me that with these Tundra transmissions he would not worry about it. But I can't help but wonder since the older ones had some type of cooler.
@DirtE303 жыл бұрын
@@dalephillips8250 I have no affiliation with Toyota... I have many videos showing the before and after temps. You can make your own assumptions as to why they deemed it necessary for 12 years of production and then dropped it I guess.
@dalephillips82503 жыл бұрын
@@DirtE30 I definitely lean you way even though Toyota says differently and If I had been towing regularly I'd have already put one of these on mine. I'm first going to get a gauge so that I can monitor my temps real time for my type of driving over this summer then decide which option I'd like to go with. I really like your 2021 option but don't like going from one size hose to another in line & you say that particular cooler is untested in the long run but the hayden you put on the 2019 has been.

My '06 Tundra tranny temp stays no higher than 140 degrees. I also am running the Amsoil SS tranny fluid so that has some to do with it as well. The truck came with a tranny cooler slightly larger than the one you have there. Really stupid that Toyota deleted the cooler probably to make sure they well more trannys in the future.

Do you actually need to install a thermostat? I’ve installed a transmission cooler on a 2001 7.3L turbo diesel without using any thermostat and it functioned fantastically. It was a true cool unit we mounted in the bumper and it dropped the average driving temp by about 30* in the summer
@DirtE308 ай бұрын
Yes you do… there’s no external fluid path without it… you also don’t want to keep the fluid cold in cold weather.

Question from a novice....after installation, there will be trapped air in the hoses and cooler....is that not a problem?
@thomasdean56518 ай бұрын
Does anyone know of an OBD2 scanner that will monitor and display the trans oil temps on the Tundra? If we're going to install the cooler, would be nice to be able to monitor the temps and know its working.

@ i’m slowly gathering parts to do the same setup as yours. Thermostat is on the way from ebay. Parker hose will probably get from their website directly. It’s like $4.64/ft. Not bad. Saw another video where the guy installed the hayden cooler and he uses 15-16ft of hose length total. Similar setup, no oem hardline. Straight from thermo to cooler. I may get 16ft to be safe.

But the real question is how do you mount it to the transmission with the warmer in the way?
@DirtE302 жыл бұрын
Check out my channel for more videos with details on that part of the system. There’s an OEM thermostat plate that has to be re installed between the warmer and the transmission. Very simple.
