2021 USA BMX Grands - Drew Polk

This is one of the best weekends of my life. I performed phenomenally and the results showed. To start the weekend on Friday, I won the Race of Champions (ROC) in both 17-20 Open and 17-20 Expert. Later that night, I raced the NAG 5 Challenge and won that too.
Fast forward to Sunday, I felt terrible. I was physically tired, mentally fatigued, and I could not race one good lap. With the mental help from my coach, Donavon Long, I barely made it into the 17-20 Expert Main Event. With gate 8 in the Main and the National Age Group (NAG) #1 plate on the line, I let autopilot take over. Everything felt like a dream, but I won the main event.
Overall, this weekend was absolutely incredible and I accomplished so many things in just a few days. 2 ROC #1 plates, NAG 5 Challenge win, 17-20 Expert Grands win, and NAG #1. We did it.
I cannot thank everyone enough for the support this year that made 2021 the greatest year of my life. First off, I would like to thank my parents for all the sacrifices they made this year to allow me to chase my dream and accomplish all the goals I set. I would like to thank my coach, Donavon Long, for always believing in me, supporting me, and pushing me to become a champion. Next, I would like to thank all the guys who trained with me before Grands to push me past my limits. That’s me and my parents at the end standing past the finish line on Sunday. I have purple hair. My mom said that being right there while you were screaming and hugging Cedric was the best part of being at Grands. Not that I came in 4th in 3 of my mains my first time there and my first time racing in 8i but you’re excitement was her favorite part. Lol! We are so happy for you!
