We have a 2017 Audi a4 that consistently get 38-39 mpg on highway at 75 mph( I use regular gas and have for all of the A4s that I have had and they run fine and have excellent acceleration, with no engine knock at all).
@mrbrowz10001012 жыл бұрын
Wow really? I used 93 BP ('18 VW Passat 2.0t) and it seemed to hate regular. I would get as much mileage using regular gas either. Maybe because BP had so many additives also.

I own that exact same vehicle 2021 Arteon SEL Premium Rline 4motion and I'm extremely happy with the fuel economy as well.

Wow. The VW trip computer a little pessimistic, that’s refreshing. Our VW GLI has been optimistic by 1-2 mpg over its first 5000 miles in all driving conditions. Just did a similar ‘Daily Motor’ inspired test, but not as controlled, on a 2021 Kia K5 LXS with its 1.6 Turbo. Averaged 40mpg over a 290 mile round trip (avg speed 62mpg) versus its 37mpg epa. Very good. But the trip computer said 42. 🤔. Hope to get a vid (our first ) out on that soon. Love your channel. As always, great stuff.

We tested a manual GLI as well, and it got much better than EPA, if I remember correctly. German cars are built for the autobahn, and that often reflects in their higher speed fuel economy. Did you fill up at the same pump each time? You'd be surprised how different some fuel nozzles can be than others in where they stop filling. Looking forward to seeing the video!

My 2019 VW Arteon SEL Premium R-Line w/ APR+ Tune and APR Coil Packs got 37.8 mpg in Comfort Mode on my last 820-mile road trip. I was pleasantly surprised!

93 octane has been a fuel recommendation by VW for probably over a decade now.

I get ~34mpg on the highway with flat terrain. 2019 Arteon Premium SEL. I've seen as much as 36, but I was in traffic keeping me down to ~60mph for much of that run. And I've seen more like 30.

My 2019 VW Arteon SEL Premium R-Line w/ APR+ tune and coil packs gets 31-33 mpg (rated 29) highway consistently on 93 octane fuel plus adding a bottle of Techron every 3K miles or so.

Have trouble much passing the peg in the hole test? lol..Oh and a 50K car not exactly your average basic sedan.! I didn't think road noise was that loud on my R Line SEL premium..glides very smoothly through the air thanks to the aero shape.

Yeah I have no clue why he said this was a basic sedan. He must have it confused with the Jetta.

VW is above your common cars as far as tech etc.... They own damn near every single luxury brand flipping Bentley for lord sake! LOL!! No different than Stinger being a Kia but is their luxury sport option K900 even the Cadenza hey just the name badge they looking for... Be different get a tune trust me this car is bonkers!

About the fuel though, my family has a VW EOS, which also 'requires' premium but we've only put regular in and noticed no difference aside from a slight performance drop. In reality, I think people can and will put regular in this and live with slightly reduced performance.
@DailyMotor3 жыл бұрын
We totally agree. However, you should see the flame session that starts in the comments if we put regular in a car that so much as recommends premium ;D

I had two VW’s 15 Golf GTI, and 13 VW Tiguan. GTI I only used 93, Tiguan I used 87. Not sure if its related but TIguan had turbo issues 2x once at 60K and again at 120K. Is it related? Who knows.
@Addison05263 жыл бұрын
@@GruntHarley it likely was the cause of you’re turbo problems. When you don’t put 93 or high enough octane fuel in, the computer has to retard timing so it doesn’t preignite the fuel. Retarded timing causes excess exhaust heat like the car is running rich (fuel still burning in the exhaust). Guess what is in the exhaust not far from the head that would act as a giant heat soak?

At least in Italy, by the law, the speedometer needs to register at least 5% more speed than the real speed you go.

Of course it takes premium. It’s literally a de-tuned Golf R engine. I don’t know of any $50k cars that take regular gas TBH
