I heard from a friend of a friend that had gotten the VIP in 2021, who said that he wouldn't do the VIP if he went back. My main question is is there shade? I am hoping to go with my 22 year old son because he is getting married the next month so we want to do a special father - son trip. We went to a Metallica show in 2017 and stood out in the sun all day. We could not go get food or drink because we didn't want to lose our spot.

The 2021 WTR fest did not have any shade unless you paid for VIP. The VIP area had a large covered area with a bar inside and chairs to sit in. The general area was completely open for sun/rain. I'm hoping they do something for 2022 bc it will be absolutely brutal in the sun all day in May at the track. In prior years when the event was in Jacksonville, they had shades set up or you could sit under a highway overpass that provided some shade as well. I'm not sure how they can configure pop up shades at Daytona without obstructing sight lines, but hoping they open up the lower level of the track seating so that you'd be able to sit under the seats and in the shade when it gets too bad with heat/rain.

It's probably not worth the money for what you get tbh. I got them for day 3 and 4 rockville 2021 and there basically just more food options a lounge and more alcohol options. The vip area they have near the stage is honestly not that good because of how far to the side it was. Honestly would have had a little bit better of a view if I had just went upfront with the normal tickets. Hope this helps!

@@brandonshifflett7808 Long story short, we had been standing all day in 90+ degree sun at the Newton, IA, racetrack all day for Voibeat, then A7X, then Metallica. About 3 songs into Metallica, my son (6'4", barely 200lbs) says that he doesn't feel good so we got back to the racetrack to cool off. That's what a Dad does. Every headlining band in 2022 is a band that I want to see. I am thinking about if we need a break from the sun, VIP is the only way we can get it. He gets married in June 2022 so I want this to be a special father / son trip. Ironically, Shinedown, Korn, & Papa Roach all announced shows in my area (from Des Moines, IA, to Moline, IL). It's concert season!!

Metallica on Friday and Metallica on Sunday seemed like 2 different bands. Not sure what was up, but to me Sunday was definitely much better sound and energy (some folks may view it differently). Not that Friday was bad its just that Sunday was amazing.

Rob Trujllio is about as exciting as a wet fart...Good bass player but damn man move around a little...Your in the biggest thrash band of all time and you stand there and squat now and then....Metallica could've done better when choosing a bass player.
