I have the RMAX 4 for a month I can't keep my wife out of the machine. It worth the money just to take the grandkids out on the trail. It turns a lot of heads. You have to watch the height for some garages. One other difference on the Canadian machine no USB plug. There's two 12v plugs one on the dash one behind the drivers seat. It's a big machine we give it a nickname "the beast ". It's a very smooth riding side by side.

All I have to say is, I should’ve waited 2 years! I bought my Wolverine X4 brand new in September of 2018. No doubt, I love the machine but it’s shortcomings seemed to have been addressed in the Rmax4. Namely suspension. I squared it up with 28x10x14 carnivores, and now in the market for shocks. But the Rmax4 is pretty much what I wished the X4 to be. Looks like I may have to consider a trade in... Thanks for the overview, and I can’t wait for the driving review!

That's the machine I am seriously considering getting, it's perfect (for me) a short 4 seater SXS that's sporty and utility. I think Yamaha will sell a ton of these. That's always my knock on 4 seater SXS is they are as long as a bus. RMAX is more sporty than the Pioneer and the only competition it May have is if Kawasaki redesigns the teryx 4. (I'm putting the General, RZR machines in the longer bus 4 seater class haha) thanks for the video DT ! always quality stuff.

You guys are right on about the Carnage tires having pliable sidewalls, which help soften the ride, but the RMAX4's main springs have a higher rate than the RMAX2: The main springs for the RMAX4 F/R are 300/400 in/lb The main springs for the RMAX2 F/R are 195/345 in/lb The tender springs have the same rate on both at 400/300 in/lb F/R Also in your RMAX2 video you stated the gas tank was ~7 gallons. It should be 9.2 gallons unless for some silly reason the Canadian models get gimped, which I can only see if total vehicle weight has a maximum limitation in Canada.
@jasononeal30993 жыл бұрын
I was curious what you guys thought about the ground clearance as you traversed on the rocky and undulating terrain? It looks like a lift would be needed to entertain the idea of larger tires as the show CHJ travel is limited in the rear. I can't decide between RMAX4 and Pioneer 1000-5. Because of shortages there really is no way to test drive the two... or even see them in the showroom for that matter. I have a small hobby farm, so the utility would be nice, but I also have a compact tractor, so I don't think I would miss the dump bed. I would mostly be hauling fencing supplies, some feed etc. would likely keep seat forward most of the time. Most of the time it would be used around the farm, and most of the trails I do would be well groomed. I'd like to start doing some weekend trips to more rugged trails, but that would only be a handful of times a year. No doubt the RMAX4 would be a runner machine, but do you think I would be annoyed by the lack of utility, and wish I had bought the P1k5?

Very nice machine. Typical Yamaha quality. The only thing I would add is the argument between long wheelbase and short wheelbase 4 seaters is where you ride and who is usually in the machine. I own a Polaris General XP4 and as far as comfort is concerned, wouldn’t trade it for anything. Yes the short wheelbase has its place. But rear passenger comfort doesn’t come close to the XP4.
@rodneysessions74634 жыл бұрын
The Polaris General cannot even come close to the quality fit and finish of a Yamaha SXS. The RMAX is very comfortable as well. I rode with a couple earlier this year who just bought a new General XP4, it was their very first trip with this Polaris. They drove 500 miles just to meet us, and on our second day on a very fun ride -- their General broke down and it ruined their experience. This is way too common in the SXS world. I would not touch a Polaris anything, this is only one of many experiences I have witnessed with Polaris SXS's. Polaris has lost over 20 points in market share over the last few years, and that trend will continue.
@Ceemysix4 жыл бұрын
@@rodneysessions7463 What specifically happened to the General?
@rodneysessions74634 жыл бұрын
@@Ceemysix loss of power, the owner was not sure what the problem was. He was sure disappointed. There were some Talon's, YXZs, and a Can Am Sport in the group all hitting the same terrain with no issues.
@Ceemysix4 жыл бұрын
@@rodneysessions7463 “loss of power”. That’s a vague statement that can cover a myriad of things. A breakdown? Or a letdown due to expectations? I certainly wouldn’t know, but comparing an XP4 to a YXZ, Talon is not really fair. Two different kind of machines. There have been complaints about primary clutch jam nuts coming loose which can cause a loss of power. With that said, Polaris has their share of issues. Yamaha is not immune, but they do have better quality control without a doubt. That doesn’t take away the fact you cannot compare a long wheelbase 4?seater to a short wheelbase 4 seater for legroom. Simple fact. The short wheelbase will go places the long one won’t. They both have pluses and minuses. I’ve been 1340 trouble free miles. No issues. Judging a machine on “one buddies” isolated experience doesn’t constitute the whole fleet being garbage.
@rodneysessions74634 жыл бұрын
@@Ceemysix I would agree that perfection does not exist in this industry. Most of my experience with Polaris has been with the RZR and not the General. This one example I used was unfortunate, but I have many more examples I could share but won’t. However, at the end of the day I love this sport and I have good friends who own just about every SXS and we have a blast together. The enjoyment is almost intoxicating!
