I have owned a 19 and currently a 22 RDX - I was unsure about the touchpad at first however it’s not complicated at all - it’s very easy to use. Also there is voice command capability if you don’t want to use the track pad. People make such a bigger deal about this system then is necessary. I can understand why some people prefer a touchscreen but this system is so comfortable and easy to use.

I thought to search for this exact video after test driving an RDX and glad I did. Couldn’t try the interface during the test drive but now that you explained it better than the salesman did I may just buy the car after all. As you mentioned, it seems a bit tricky at first but I think I could get used to it. Reaching for a screen all the time and smudging it up with fingerprints is also a negative so I’ll give it a try. Using the touchpad would seem to keep your posture in better driving position.

Thank you Robert. I just purchased a 2024 MDX A spec. My LOUSY salesman basically handed me the keys without any demo. As I was about to drive off, which took a moment to figure out, he motioned for me to roll down the window. He reminded me about some survey and said "pls give me all 10's." Yea right buddy. NOW I know how to work this darn thing.

Touchpad is super easy and functionally perfect. Even with a touchscreen option I would still be using the touchpad 80 percent of the time.

Play around with the TouchPad for a bit and you'll get the hang of it!

@@Robert_Cox Hi - what would your suggestion be for the best way to do that? Also - thanks for the video. Agree, simple and straightforward tutorial. I'm sure it might be something that could be gotten used to, but the problem is how to go about getting used to it before buying it. And you really can't buy something at that price and just hope you get used to a vital part of the car's functionality. On a separate question, is that right portion permanent or can the full screen be used? Thanks again for creating and posting this tutorial.

The is the best feature in the vehicle! Honda wants to place the screen further back in the dash where it belongs...it belongs in your direct line of sight not under your nose so you can touch it. IT IS EASY TO USE! But hey if you want a dirty finger print stained screen under your nose when you drive....buy a gm...see how that works out for you😂😂😂😂

I’m ok with the touchpad and I came from vehicle with the touchscreen. The only obstacle for me is when you’re typing words such as passwords or addresses. Gotta take your time with that but I don’t have to do that often.

Very helpful video. When in CarPlay mode, does the trackpad work the same as the rotary knob on the ILX but you move your finger around the touchpad in a circular motion instead of turning a rotary knob?

In Carplay you swipe your finger in the direction you want to go. Up for up, left for left etc. You still click the pad in to select

@@Robert_Cox So in CarPlay, if you want to highlight an icon that's on the same screen but 3 icons to the right, do you have to swipe to the right 3 times or can you somehow highlight it with 1 long swipe?

Great questions, I'm actually not sure if it stays in the configuration you had it at last. You could try setting the memory seat button to the key fob and it may save that screen

Glad I saw this. I was skeptical since a lot of manufacturers are going with this setup. Bad thing is, you have to adjust your multi-tasking skills while driving. Then again, judging by the steering wheel; you can navigate through it.

Great question! I believe it's under settings, system, system volumes, and then the first option. I'll edit this post tomorrow if I'm incorrect

Good video! Broken down Barney style, can’t believe I had to watch a video to figure out this car. Acura should’ve gotten rid of the touchpad and just made it touchscreen. I still dont know how to change radio stations!

Select FM or AM from the home screen and then manually tune or use the scan up/down. I set my favorite presets and can just use left steering wheel control to change stations...super easy, but you need to take an hour to set it up and learn the short cuts. 😊

I love Acuras and I like how the RDX looks and drives, but this feature prevented me from buying it. I felt it was just way too distracting and confusing to use, even when parked, let alone when driving. I can understand there not being a touch screen, that's fine, makes sense, but why not do it via a single knob like Genesis or Mazda do?

Because the alternative is having a touch screen under your nose so you can touch it. Instead the screen can be further in the dash so you can actually see it. Another first world problem for morons😂😂😂

But why????? Why just not to make it a touch screen? When you driving in traffic, it's a distraction. Tap here, swipe there. Why to complicate things that can be done way easier? Right now I'm looking for a car for my wife. She is not a tech guru. When she saw this, she got freaked out. RDX is a great car, but this thing is a deal breaker for her. Lexus, Mercedes, Volvo have way way way better and friendly systems.

If you take 10 minutes to play with it and have someone show you how it works it's actually a very simple and straightforward system! Most of my customers are hesitant because of what they see online about it, but once they try it they like it!

@@Robert_Cox No, it's not from seen online, but rather from my own experience. I don't like Acura's system at all. I just came from testing Volvo XC60. Love it. Simple, easy, friendly. I let someone else deal with Acura's "straightforward". Sorry, not for me.

Owners need to reach out to Acura, comment on it online and apply as much pressure as possible to get them to update future model years with the touch screen. BMW offers both the iDrive knob and the touch screen simultaneously, this is a poor choice by Honda. One they can easily rectify.

I love the Acura system. It is much more intuitive than BMW iDrive. I don't understand why people say they like that system. I just traded my 2020 3 series for a TLX and prefer the Acura system 100X over.

I want a new Acura but they have to get rid of that Infotainment center. Touch screen guys and bigger screen. So bad they have to make a you tube video on how to use it… nope I’ll wait 2025 better change this. This is a 50k vehicle. Every review on this infotainment center knocks it as the worst. Need to be able to have a touch screen when you’re driving. Not pull over and try to figure this thing out..

Honestly, ask someone who owns the car and not a reviewer who had it for a day. I like it more than a touchscreen personally. That being said the 2025 MDX has gone to a touch screen so definitely check one out once they arrive on the lot!
