In the real world driving the Mazda is more relaxed with its massive low end torque. You don’t have to drive it like you stole it, as is being done here. I’d take the Mazda every day of the week even with the 6 speed, which is never hunting for the right gear.
@guigocn28 ай бұрын
The engine in the Mazda behaves almost like a diesel that's why it have huge torque and shifts in such low rpm, since peak power is around 4.5krpm. I was cross-shopping the RDX and the CX5 and got to test both thoroughly. At the end I got the Mazda because I couldn't justify the price difference and to be honest in city driving the vehicle have enough power. Now, what makes the RDX perform better than the CX5 it's definitely the transmission, Mazda's 6 speed is very reliable but it hurts performance while the Acura just put everything to the ground. Mazda also have an active AWD like the Acura that is amazing, both gives you the feeling the car is on rails .

100%. Honestly, if Mazda just tuned the engine a little bit more on the performance side, let’s say 310-320 HP (match the torq output), the 6 speed auto would do just fine. If they did that, they could get away with shortening the the last few gears. Otherwise, put the 8 speed auto in the CX-5/CX-50 and put at least 285-300 hp and you’re golden 🙌. With the handling Mazda’s have, they’d take over with a slight HP bump or shorter gear ratio’s.

If they utilized the 8-speed auto or shortened the gear ratios on the top end, they’d be Gucci. But you can’t deny the overall performance or interior quality regardless of opinion. Was the CX-5 in sport mode? That makes a big difference in acceleration.

I wonder if it's because on sport mode on the Lincoln it disabled the AWD?

I own a 2021 Corsair and I really love this car and has much better ride quality than the mazda
@jimmy56343 ай бұрын
These tests are fun for bragging rights and I would love to have the Acura. Having said that. I cannot justify that kind of money on a second car when I want to own two vehicles. I bought a 2024 Mazda S Select with the naturally aspirated 2.5 liter. It’s very quick around town and that’s what I use it for. At $30,000 it’s a great buy.

The thing a lot of people don’t seem to appreciate about Lincoln Corsairs is that they aren’t built to put sheer performance first. The engines are competent, sure, but they’re also trying to toe the line between modern engine performance and traditional Lincoln luxury. The Corsair absolutely NAILS the latter. The interior is rock solid and luxurious asf…especially the seats! They’re fantastic!! They give the high-luxe brands like Land Rover a run for their money. I’ve test driven both the CX-5 and the Corsair and I’ll take the Corsair any day for daily driving. Is the Corsair sporty? Meh. But Luxurious, quiet and competent? Absolutely with points to spare. My Corsair premiere is on order currently 😉

The Mazda absolutely short shifted the absolute everything out of first gear on that last dig race.

Love RDX size and looks but won't buy a 2.0T 4cyl. Hoping they will release a "Type S" with their new 3.0T V6 and update their ancient infotainment system.

Mazda is definitely the biggest disappointment. Weight/HP/Torque should be 1st place, no Zoom Zoom this time. I love RDX sport mode snappiness brings it alive ❤
@timothyforce19498 ай бұрын
It doesn't matter that the Mazda has a 6-speed only, with that much more torque it should still put distance between the Acura. My '15 Accord V6 only has a 6-speed auto and I have put distance between myself and every Camry V6 even with their 8-speed auto and more "paper" power. I think the Mazda's power is higher on paper than on the dyno.

Well, if he needs to learn how to read, then you need to learn how to spell. Mazda is spelled Mazda, not madza. Just saying.

This was a very poorly done race all around. From weather conditions to bad reaction times, to the cars not being lined up correctly for the roll races. Seemed very lazy. Disappointing. And if it truly is the camera angle like Sam claims, then the camera positions need to be changed. Sam you may want to get some tips from Car Wow.

Sam, Do you reset the trip before the drive. I believe it's more accurate in gas mileage. My 15 odyssey does 8.9 - 9.3 at 100 - 115 kph. That's with vcm not working.
