Toyota destroyed 50 years of reliability in just one year
@matthewbowen58414 ай бұрын
Well, to be fair the problems bubbled under since the LS500 launched, what, 6 years ago? But the number of units and market demographic let them ignore it. The fact that they ignored it and ramped up production numbers with a known troublesome engine... Inexcuseable, even if you're goal is to fleece everyone.

What would you buy? An F150? Silverado? Both of them have terrible engines too
@hochhaul3 ай бұрын
The decline began back around 2010 when their engines had massive oil burning issues and the success of the Tacoma meant more and more people realized Toyota frames had major rust rot issues. Toyota responded by changing their new vehicle warranty to state that it was "normal" for their engines to burn 1 quart every 1200 miles and trying to weasel out of replacing thousands of rotted out frames by playing games with their Limited Service Campaign, denying frames if the rust holes are not big enough and not adequately warning customers to have their frame inspected before the LSC expired (the LSC itself was found to be unreasonably shorted in duration). One could even argue the major scandal with all the deaths caused by unintended acceleration linked to a defective throttle pedal assembly was the start of the decline. 2GR oil line failures that Toyota refused to acknowledge in non-Lexus vehicles was a terrible look. The 3rd gen Tacoma being rated least reliable midsize truck by CR for multiple years was terrible, as is the fact that many issues continue to go unaddressed by Toyota. Their cheapning of major components like the rear axles in their trucks when they moved manufacturing to Thailand from the US in 2015 was a bad look. I mean it doesnt end. Toyota has been on the decline for a while.

Toyota fan boy here. I’ve posted on numerous videos like this to make potential buyers aware of my experience with Toyota. I got both the Toyota tundra and Sequoia both hybrid and have nothing but problems with them. My issue went all the way to corporate after I complained about the vehicle, vibrating at a certain speeds. Toyota told me the vibration is a characteristic of the vehicle and when I told them that the vehicles should not be doing that at that price point, they told me the vehicle is operating as intended. I found out the hard way that it’s cheaper for me to go upside down on both my vehicles than to take legal action. I have been loyal to Toyota since 1996 and this is the first time I’m actually considering a Ford. Ford also do have their issues, but based on what customers are saying, Ford is standing behind their product. It’ll be hard for Toyota to earn back my trust after what they did, but until then I will continue my campaign to make prospect buyers aware of Toyotas despicable customer service, and severe decline in quality control.

My wife bought v6 Camry brand new. Has 1mz-fe motor in it. It has 403,000 miles on it. Neither the motor nor tranny have ever been opened up. I came on the seen around 2007 and took over maintenance care of it. I always use mobil 5w30 synthetic, wix filters…change every 5000 miles. Trany was switched to amsoil synthetic fluid. Drain and fill once a year. Only thing that drives me crazy is rear valve cover gasket leak. I replaced once never again. Oil is cheap.

Remarkable how we all used to think the Japanese culture was immune to the short sided greed that caused the demise of former American auto giants like GM and Ford in the 80's and 90's. Yet here we are in the 2020's, watching Toyota putting short term profits ahead of vehicle component reliability, durability, customer satisfaction and loyalty. One way owners can try to fight back is by purchasing less complicated base model Toyotas; e.g. the 2025 $30,000 Camry LE sedan instead of a $45,000 Toyota Crown Sedan.

Toyota better be thinking about "getting back to the basics." When problems like the ones we are seeing start happening to a company known for putting out high quality vehicles, they need to return to what they know works. Stop letting the government EPA design your vehicles for you. That's a good start, and return your manufacturing operations to places that build good vehicles.

@n300zx9313 ай бұрын
Toyotas have always been so great, but I was the first to predict this would happen when I heard about the new power train sweep. Toyotas are normally reliable because they build the same engine over and over and slightly improve it each time. They don't know how to build a whole new engine.

Toyota quality has been going down hill for a while. Our brand new at that time 2018 trd Tacoma was a pile of f’ing junk. Transmission issues that were never figured out. The pre collision feature caused random brake lock ups on the highway at 65-70mph. Toyota replaced the sensor in the grille 3 times and reprogrammed it and it kept doing it. Nearly killed us a few times… We got so sick and tired of that lemon pos and wanted more truck anyways with at least rear air and offloaded it and traded it in for a brand new 2019 Camry for my wife and I went and bought a 2017 f250 6.7L “which has been absolutely flawless even with the amount of abuse I put that truck through” but not even joking when I say this next part. We traded in the Tacoma and not even a mile down the road from the dealer it throws a road and vented the block.. towed it back in and Toyota flew a engineer out to our dealer and after a day with the car they wanted the car back from us for testing purposes and they sent us another brand new 19 off the delivery and all and let us unwrap it and now that one is at 72k miles and rock solid. But we haven’t bought a Toyota since.. After all these story’s I really don’t trust them. The new tundra is no surprise to me but I knew it when they bent the knee to the eco nuts of the world and put those little eco turd fart cannons in a full size truck. Should of made it an option for the eco turd for the ones trying to save a few cents at the pump but not be the only option.. If the tundra had the 5.7L in the 22 and up it’s sales would be off the charts imo. If not off the charts at least a lot better then what they are now.
