If u live in a cold climate, installing a block heater would be a smart. It will definitely be better for the engines quality of life and oil dilution concerns.

I just got rid of a 2018 6 speed accord with the 1.5T for a brand new Si, had 154,000 yes 154,000 on the car. 80% highway miles, oil changes done at 50% and I drove it. Never had a single issue and yes that was the first year for those engines I believe especially in the accord anyway so that would be the “oil dilution years”. Just warm the car up before use, avoid short trips, change oil sooner = infinite reliability.

highway miles is much easier on the engine so the engine will last much longer if the car is driven on highways

I've tried this engine in a brand new Accord and I found it harsh, laggy and noisy. I cannot believe some at Honda had approved it and it is now in almost all of their lineup.

@@alib8396 Is that a tenth gen or 11th? I thought all the 11th gen Accords were pretty nice. i rode in an Uber but did not own or drive one. I have a 10th gen Civic and the company was negligent in design of many areas especially noise both road and engine, comfort, quality of Chinese sourced side mirrors, door handles, poor paint, bad door latches, AC system, head bolts that stretch and more. In the Civic the engine feels great but has a vibration-full personality because it has no balancing and the cylinders are offset.

@@jamesmedina2062 I am not really sure what gen is 2022 Accord but regardless of that. It is crazy that someone at Honda thinks this engine is befitting of their flagship vehicle and it is not like Honda didn't make great engines before. I only drove the Honda Accord to sample the engine because I have been considering buying the new Honda ZR-V and it only comes with the 1.5T here in this region. Needless to say I was left hugely disapointed that I might forgo Honda altogether and go shopping somewhere else.
@jamesmedina2062

@@alib8396 you raise a good point. Use the 1.5 in lower models like Fit and Civic but leave it out of Accord huh? I agree that the 1.5 is a throwback to unrefined 4's from the 80's. How could it qualify for the Accord when 33 years ago the EX Accord came out with a smooth and balanced 4 cylinder engine that became legendary? You would think 33 years stood for something. The truth is that fuel is no longer derived in the States from oil that is naturally pressurized. The Bakken shale and other shale formations require lots of stimulation to release oil. The majority of oil produced is under expensive fracking processes and our worlds are heating up so at some point some car-makers like Honda will make more money using less fuel with buzzy engines versus the guzzlers that require extra fees. The 3-cylinder engine sold in Europe is really buzzy and underpowered. It has not even been used here. We don't even get sold the smaller cars here. For US models they use fancy liquid filled engine mounts and the turbo smooths the exhaust a little. I think the Accord has gone downstream in terms of luxury. If sales remain strong, Honda will feel vindicated or justified. I looked at a 1.5 cracked open and the guy was showing some of the parts in it. The crank was designed to be light and not balanced for smoothness. The head bolts and rod bolts were light and weak. It was upsetting to see some of the obvious cost-cutting effects.

There are still issues with oil dilution. I have a 2021 Honda Accord 1.5L turbo and even after 3,000 miles the oil level is higher than the max mark on the dipstick. I change the oil sooner to mitigate any issues associated with engine oil diluted with gasoline.

Honda makes good motors. But just not this one. Everything in the L series motor is to small and to weak for a turbo. The d series on old Honda is beefier than this. The crank shaft on this is very small. Imagine the comparing a coke can vs a redbull can. All the major bolts are way to small.
