Alabama was called for a school record seventeen penalties, breaking the previous record of fifteen that they set a few weeks earlier against Texas. This was the most points allowed by an Alabama defense since a 4-54 loss to the Sewanee Tigers in 1907. That game predated leather helmets and came one year after the legalization of the forward pass, so it is fair to say this was Alabama's worst defensive performance in living memory.

People griped about Bama getting “screwed” on calls. And while some were bad calls, nothing excuses the pre-snap penalties, lapses in concentration, and basically just pathetic defense. Tennessee is really good on offense but the Bama secondary was absolutely lost and clueless.

@Richard Pierce we had the game in our hands at the end all we had to do was run the ball with Gibbs idk why we were throwing on 1st down with like 50 seconds left

@@getbox747 Agree 100 percent. Run the ball, get closer, and center the ball in the middle of the field for Reichard. That was a 50 yard field goal at an angle.

I see people saying delete the video, but most of them probably don't realize that the games we lose (with the exception of the 2019 national championship) are some of the best games that could ever happen that produce very good highlights. Real fans can watch when their teams lose just as much as they can watch them when they win.
