2022 Acura MDX Trailer Wiring Harness

One note to add: I just went through this on my 2022 MDX Tech, and when I tested it nothing worked. After looking at the instructions that Acura provides, there is one additional fuse that you need to install up under the hood. After adding a 20a fuse to the no.13 spot in the front fuse panel, everything worked fine.

The foot kick sensor cable is on my type s advance. . Don't cut it like I did. Coax looking cable running the length of the bottom trim. Shine a flashlight. Easier to get if u pull those big black grommets. Btw..u r welcome

Wish I saw this video, I was getting an ATF cooler installed at my local dealer and decided to let them do the trailer wire harness, too. The cooler install was ~$680 and the wiring harness was ~$380!!! I can understand the higher price for the cooler install because it involves removing the front bumper and is more involved. I was astounded that the wiring harness cost so much in labor to install.

Easy install and have not installed the aftermarket hitch yet. And now my kick opener stopped working? Does this harness also disable the kick open function?

Note-23 mdx, install pin connector with two bolts to hitch before installing hitch and factory lower bumper designed for hitch with the knock out!!

Is 2023 MDX install different than what is shown in this video? I heard the bumper needs to be removed but in this video install is a snap

Where does the stainless steel bracket mount? It is shaped like a squared off “S” or a squared off “Z” and has two screw holes - - appreciate any thoughts!

On an 2022 MDX Advance, the OEM installation document is too convoluted comparing to what you have shown on the video. I have 2 questions: (1) do you have to remove the tail light cover and bumper as per the OEM installation manual? and (2) do you have to do anything with the HFA unit?

How did you route the harness under the car? Did you have to attach the cable to anything?

There should have been a little metal piece that attached to the little computer box which then bolts to the same hole as the ground wire. Maybe not all kits.

Was there a bracket part for the relay box included in the kit? I doubt the instruction would simply say tuck behind the cover trim. I saw the video on the older MDX trailer hitch wiring harness install and it came with the bracket except on the 2022 it is alot easier to install.

My 2023 kit came with a metal bracket that gets bolted to the location where he installed the ground cable. The relay box mounted to the bracket. The other end of the cable with the relays also had a little snap in fitting that mounted with the wire fully stretched out to the right side of the vehicle (there is a hole to snap the fitting into).

As part of our 2021 MDX Tech deal, the hitch was installed. Does this include the wiring harness? Ours is covered by a plastic piece. Just want to know before I ripp it out. Thanks.

The only place you can buy the harness is from Acura, part number is 08L91-TYA-200.
