2022 Arctic Fox 1150 Truck Camper // 1 Year Review

They’re a nice looking and well made popular model truck camper. We ordered a 2022 Lance 1172 truck camper and picked it up late last year trading our previous Lance 992 on it. It was too late to try it out with winter so we are eagerly waiting for spring. We love boondocking so we went with 2 solar panels and we have a portable one and 2 lithium batteries and also a propane generator. What we like is the layout with the dinette we also have a couch so you can stretch out and relax. We are newbies so we have lots to learn. 👍🇨🇦

I added blue thread lock to the screws on the drawer pulls and cabinet pull handles…. They tend to loosen up after a while just like any machine screw that goes into a piece of threaded metal.

I bought a 2010 Arctic Fox 811 in 2009. It was trouble free for the entire 10.75 years I owned it. In 2020 I bought a 2018 Arctic Fox 992. It also has been totally trouble free.

Great info. My first question is who did the graphics? My second and biggest question is how does a rig as big as that handle? I have only hauled a travel trailer before, but I want to get an F450 and the same camper you have, but I wonder how it will handle. I know the truck is powerful enough to haul it, but is it top-heavy? Does it wobble? How does it take curvy & mountain roads? How is it affected by the wind? If you can speak to these questions I have , I would super appreciate it.

Hey Scott! Thank you! I (matt) designed the graphics myself with photos I've taken blended with our logo. We had a local business install the graphics. The camper is great! The truck handles it like a champ. If we get 30-40mph side winds you can notice it, but we use timbrens paired with torklift stable loads and that really helps with any sort of a sway. You should have no problem with an f450 :) The dually makes it much more stable than people think.

You might want to keep ventilation to the outside in your propane area. Just in case. Was wondering,,, does that shower head have an on/off switch ??

I thought artic fox was a four season camper. It seems like the insulation sound be done correctly. Truck campers should come standard with a Foley system. For the cost of these rig it seems they should make the better. Thank you for the video really nice.

I am looking at 1045/1050. How do you find the slide seals when the slide is out (cold drafts etc)? How do you find the slide seals when it is out, does it keep the dust out when on dusty roads, and are there any leaks when driving? Have you had any problems with the slide operation? Any other mechanical issues with the camper? Thank you

I've found that campers with slides are not the best for off road dispersed camping. After several trips to repair shop because slide tracks became misaligned and Fram started sagging. Slide would not go in or out without help. Uneven ground causes Fram to flex causing problems.

I got one more question if possible I'm thinking about buying a 8-foot bed dually diesel I don't know if Ford Dodge or whatever I'm going by do they make a 1 fit in a long bed and their word 8-foot bed please let me know okay thank you cuz I like the longer beds and stuff heavier-duty thank you

8ft bed is standard for the long bed. If you'd like one longer, I recommend getting a cab and chassis truck (like ram 4500/5500) with a flatbed.

I got a question maybe it helped me out okay it's how good is it 4-0 weather colder would that be a good camper to buy please let me know okay how hard it is to keep it warm been like zero out a little bit colder out I don't know how court under the same cold cold or what it always is have a good one let me know thank you

This camper is great for cold weather. The coldest we've camped in is 20F. Some people do below 0, but they did extra modifications to keep it well insulated

Are you over the GVWR for the truck?, I am assuming you have a F-350/3500 dually with 14k GVWR. If so what mods for your truck did you do? Tembren springs? Airbags? Hellwig sway bar? I am thinking about the AF 1140 dry bath and put it on a F-350 dually chassis which gives me 16k GVWR, but a standard 350/3500 may be cheaper if I don’t need a lot of upgrades to handle the weight.

We are, we use Torklift StableLoads and Timbrens. The setup works great for what we do. If you go with a cab and chassis just remember that the flatbed will count towards your payload as well. We've debated on jumping up to a 4500 but haven't done so yet. Waiting to see what happens with the market.

@@InfiniteExplorers jumping up to a F-450/4500 reduces the payload. If your going up you need a F-550/Ram 5500 chassis with 19.5k GVWR. I am trying to avoid due to insurance increase.

Please check your truck chassis for cracks. There is an area that has a lot of rivets that create a fracture line. Be safe of there!

Very nice setup! Must be over your GVWR though. I have the same truck. 2021 and I was way over weight with my last TC. Traded it in a new Adventurer 910db. About 1500 pounds lighter.

60 gallons of water last three weeks. Are you using body wipes instead of showering

We use body wipes from time to time and usually shower every 3-4 days, unless we've done a lot of hiking. But our showers are quick 2 minute showers so we don't use up much water. If we are in an area with lots of water access we will get water more frequently, but when we are far from places to fill up we make it last.

@D Mac R&M Bighorn 7x16 enclosed trailer. They are based out of Omaha, NE I believe. The trailer has worked great for the 3000 miles we've taken it so far. I believe its 2300lbs unloaded and around 4400 with our SxS and a few small things. They were the best priced 7x16 trailer we've found :) We also added bedliner to the floor of it and flipped the axles for added clearance.

Use a hose meter to see if you can ever get 60 gallons of fresh water into your tank. I've got a 100 dollars that says that you can't get 60 gallons into it, ever!
