This is one of the best gaming laptop review ever. You go the extra mile of configuring the different modes and exploring the best one to be used, which honestly I won't be able to figure out (if I have one). Agree with the other comments - one of the best/most comprehensive reviews I've watched. Covering the OEM software is really useful as some have very limited functionality. Just bought it G15, R7-6800H, RAM 32GB, 1T, RTX 3080 ...what an amazing machine..it is not even the gaming laptop, it is a real big boy's toy, what an amazing performace and quality + a lot of options to personalize and set up in your unique way. Let me share some comments. I was almost decided to purchase Legion 5 Pro , but fortunatelly I have changed my mind. Pro : Super screen, fan noise at 0 when idle, full control of fans !!!! amazing, lot of other laptops do have any control on fans speed,s and noise level. If we are talking about noise : no noise when browsing, working, writing, watching films, etc.... When playing you have full control on performance/noise level, you can set your own preferences. The laptop is not hot as expected as it is very thin and premum build (super look and feel aka Macbook quality feeling). I see Asus have made a good job on it. Cons : Sorry I do not see at that moment any improtant For summary : SCREEN - awsome, very bright,great colors+you can personalise them, fast response, 15'6 is really enough Noise : no noise in idle (even where fans are turninga bit), even in stress is very acceptable, (all gaming laptops are loud, but or this one I was positively suprised) HOT : When working , browising, you feel a bit of heet of the keyboard, but really acceptable (I expected much worse caus of very strong processor and GPU) , when playing hotter, but like any other gaming laptop , GPU : wow, what a performance, not very high teperatures + you can control it manually, but you can still be fine with AMD one, you can even play older games using it TOUCHPAD : the best i ever seen , QUALITY : very premium build,, not expected that , in the coffe shop you are a king with it, everyboddy is interested in, cause most of coffe laptops are Macs SOUND : Very nice quality, not like in headphones, but very clear and quite loud if you want OVERAL : it is not a laptop for HARD players (go for Legion Pro), but it is real portable media/fun/games center with full of interesting features and super reserve of power and performance, (like 250HP car in the city, you know what you have , but you do not show that) you can spend hours on your personal settings if you want . you are buying in reality two laptops : 1) for normal user/creator and in the same time 2) you have huge gaming possibility with this machine if you want Thanks to Josh for the reviews and tests, I really share his point of view. Good work Josh ! ...still discovering all other functions of this outstanding machine..... PS : 3DMark Time Spy Score : Overal : 11.405 (Excellent) CPU : 10.412 GPU : 11.601 Model : Asus Zephyrus G15 GPU : RTX 3080 CPU : R7 6800H RAM : 16 (on board) + 16 = 32 HD : WD 1T Price paid (in Poland) : 1.600$ (american dollars) or 1.500 euro

@@JoshCravesTech If you are still using this laptop, tell me how it is after a while, have there been any wear and tear or other defects? Some say that the G15 body is very flimsy, it feels like plastic, the paint falls off, the frame around the screen peels off due to exposure to temperatures, and the screen cover, when carried in a backpack, is easily deformed and has to be straightened. I also saw a lot of photos that the bottom of the G14 constantly cracks and pieces fall off... Are the G16 2023 and M16 2022 the same low quality? Great video. I'm getting better battery life after updating my AMD drivers from AMD, an extra 2 hours but YMMV. And I pulled off the metal plates that are attached to the intake grills. Most reviewers compare laptop in terms of raw performance which is not correct imo. A laptop is a portable machine and efficiency is top priority in every department. If someone wants brute raw performance just build a desktop at half the cost of laptop and remote to that for heavy tasks. You mention it very clearly. Portability, battery life and performance efficiency are highlights of this laptop.

@JoshCravesTech7 ай бұрын
The Legion will have just very slightly higher fps, but 20W is almost nothing. It’s absolutely not worth the increase in weight, the tradeoff in the thicker, cheap feeling plastic body, plastic trackpad, worse tuning software, worse screen vibrancy/color accuracy, worse speakers, worse battery life. It’s just not a premium laptop at all in comparison to the Zephyrus. At this point they should remove “pro” from the Legion 5 Pro. Ever since 2022 it has been really falling behind the competition. Valorant is very dependent on your CPU. Did you disable cpu turbo boost by chance? Or did you lower your CPU wattage at all? Is your mux switch active? Is there any setting in Valorant that unlocks fps, like is it hitting an fps limit? I know Apex Legends for example you have to add a setting in the launch options to increase the fps limit.

The 2021 version does not have Gsync, not sure why it would say that. Gsync requires a mux switch. You can of course plug into a Gsync compatible monitor and run it that way. The difference is not much though between Freesync and Gsync other than the frequency range at which they operate. Even without gsync I have never noticed any tearing.

Hi Josh, I just bought this piece of hardware as well here in Europe with the 240hz panel, and I wanted to ask you some questions: Did you find the chassis hot while playing? For me, it can hit 55-60°C just below the screen bezel and almost burn my fingers. I have also noticed after playing for several hours, the screen has some dead pixels that roll back after a while. Besides this, I have no other complaints about this incredible laptop, which will be very useful for my engineering studies. Good video, btw. I really appreciate all the work you're doing on this Zephyrus lineup, as you were the one who sold me the G15 with your video from last year. Thank you for this!

The area above the function keys is not meant to be touched! That is by design. If the regular keys are uncomfortably hot then that’s a different story, that shouldn’t happen. Also the screen getting dead pixels is a bit strange, but if they go away that’s good lol. I’ve never had that happen on mine. It is such a great laptop overall though, just make sure to act on anything that you feel might be a defect before your warranty expires!

You mentioned that you bought it from bestbuy, did you trade your previous one in? Or did you just sell it on marketplace or something? I’m debating where to sell my prebuilt pc so I can have enough to buy this laptop :p

Hey. I noticed you were using afterburner for gpu overclock and armoury manual for CPU fan speed. But also noticed you can OC in manual mode. Remind me, don't both settings clash? Lol. On desktop, all i use is afterburner.

Hi Josh, I just got G15 AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS, RTX 3060 at Best Buy open box for $605. Do you think it would be good for live streaming at 1080 or 1440p? Thanks

You could theoretically connect at least 3 displays, one from each output. However, depending on the resolution and refresh rates, you could likely connect more using a high bandwidth hub of some sort

Hey Josh, thanks for the great review. Would you recommend this over 2021 zephyrus 3070 which is 600$ cheaper now?
@JoshCravesTech2 жыл бұрын
If there’s a $600 price difference then no. But I’ve seen the new one go on sale here in the states for nearly the same price as the 2021 model. So if your region has sales like that sometimes then go for the 2022. If not then go for the 2021!

I have the 2021, this one is better, but I'm waiting for the 2023 version. I think it's going to be REALLY good (Asus usually does model refreshes every other year) so g15 should get vapor chamber and 16:10 screen. Pie in the sky would be a mini led screen. I also wish they'd get rid of the stupid holes in the screen.
@DustAdventures Жыл бұрын
Most people love the holes, including myself. It’s unique and not too flashy.

The inclusion of a 1.21 gigawatts/hour Nucleonic Sub-Thermal Ohm-Reactor, which will take the cortisol-saturation and dopamine feedback loops of social media engagement algorithms and frappe' them into a spicy melange that will power liquid metal cooling sub-systems and optimize quantum farm access through new Astral Wi-Fi connectivity, is what's _really_ gonna make the 2023 Asus cook. Vapor chambers are sooo 3rd-dimensionally-limited.

Hi Josh, By any reason, I was recommending some important steps on this comment section for a bigger performance with your laptops and got deleted. If you can find it, please share it, as it will help all of you. I guess it has been due to the size as it was a detailed guide of how to do it.

Hi, what OSD app are you using, i tried GPU Tweak iii but it shows CPU temp 0 degrees on display when gaming.... And my GPU benchmark score 9800 and CPU 8050 with turbo mode with 3DMARK - CPU a bit low isnt?
@JoshCravesTech Жыл бұрын
Use MSI Afterburner. Your GPU score looks good, but yeah CPU is a little low unless you did something to limit it like disable turbo boost or something.

how would you compare g14 2022 6800s to a 3080 on the g15 2022, have both hesitating on which to return, g15 has backlight bleed
@JoshCravesTech2 жыл бұрын
@@zakam766 Can you exchange the G15 for another one? The 3080 is a lot more powerful than the 6800S, but the G14 of course has a better screen and is a little more portable. So for gaming and temps, the G15 wins, but for portability and display, the G14 wins.

I would not buy the 2023 G16 personally. It is just not a good laptop. It’s not a “bad” laptop, but there are just so many better options out there now. I’d probably take a 4060 G14 over a 4070 2023 G16. The 2023 M16 is also way better as well.

So yes and no. People have done lots of things to help their battery life. There are now even some replacement softwares for Armoury Crate, helping people get around what the 2021 model got. However if you want the best battery life you’d still need to go for the G14.

This was a surprisingly good review. So USB 4 certification should enable external GPU support right? That should enable around 10 or 15 years life for this laptop assuming the CPU and everything else holds up well.

@@JoshCravesTech after all the complaints I have seen on Reddit about ASUS laptops and board repairs I'm having second thoughts on purchasing one. Can you attest to ASUS build quality of the motherboard? Would like to see what your one looks like under the microscope and how it compares with others I've seen.
@JoshCravesTech2 жыл бұрын
@@TartarSauceIsNotDead I can’t attest specifically to the motherboard, no. But again I think it’s just one of those things where people who have problems are going to post a lot more frequently than those who don’t have problems. You can see this on pretty much any laptop forum you visit. Usually just more posts if the laptop sells more units. I wouldn’t worry too much about it, but they offer extended warranties too for peace of mind. All I can say is I’ve had 4 Asus ROG devices for testing and daily use across 2-3 years now and they’ve all been perfect.
