@Chris - just to clear up your confusion in 2:39:29 - it is legal to overbuild opponents' coal mines (and iron mines respectively) if there are no coal (or iron) cubes anywhere on the board, including the market (rulebook page 10). That is what Randy did with Jared's coal mine. Hope this helps.

There was one illegal play at the 2:20:28 mark that may have cost Luca the game. That link is not in Josh's network.
@ummon9952 жыл бұрын
Did Josh play the appropriate card to build pottery or did he use the illegal link he'd made? My guess is he used his link. It's highly likely Luca would've won the game in that case. It slipped everybody's eyes...pretty crazy for a championship game but I guess they'd been playing for hours before.
@SinceWeMet892 жыл бұрын
I think that the way it has gone, is that everybody else waited for his both moves to be made and then signal any mistakes. Josh used Belper card to build pottery that requires only iron. So building pottery and making a link is legit in that case, Josh just made the moves in a wrong order. I think everybody just let it go knowing that other way around is a legit move.
@andrewhoss58202 жыл бұрын
@@SinceWeMet89 you’re right, I missed that. Although we can’t see it, Chris says that he played the Belper card to play pottery, in which case it would have been legal had the actions been reversed. Good catch 👍

@@SinceWeMet89 Please, can answer me. 2:52:50 is legal or illegal? (spent one beer for two sales)
@SinceWeMet89 Жыл бұрын
@@MesutTopal Hello, Yes, it is legal in this particular case becasue one of his manufacturing goods is lvl3 which doesn't need beer to be flipped.

2:20:29 I think Josh made an illegal move here, because he didn’t have any networking links to Dudley, nor did he have any industry in Dudley. 😅 He should not be able to build his rail from Dudley to Belper during that action. If he did his second action first, which is using a Belper location card to build a Pottery first, then he could have done the double rail action legally. Did anyone else notice that? Hope to have a discussion here since my group has been playing with said rules.
@XTCyan Жыл бұрын
Yes you are correct. His second card was a Belper card so if he switched the order of his actions it would've been legal.

@@ericnelson382 the rules for laying link tiles say "The placed Link tile must be adjacent to a location that is a part of your network" and your network is "A location on the board is considered to be a part of your network if at least one of the following is true: • The location contains one or more of your Industry tiles; • The location is adjacent to one or more of your Link tiles These are not true for the placement of the link to Belper so it is an illegal move

2:59 - josh's last turn, last link he built from Stoke on Trent to empty Tamworth, how come he didn't build it to Walsall instead?
@Diego-valdivia Жыл бұрын
The only other available link was Walsall to Tamworth right? The Stoke on Trent - to - Walsall link is a river link only usable on the Canal era. Did I understand your question correctly?

Great video and commentary. Just to add, I wish the map was the right way up - it would have been a lot easier to understand location references if I could read them right way up. Great to see the strategies employed and you feel Randy's frustration on the era change. I was wondering why no one went early on pottery with idea of securing one at level 2 in the canal era, maybe its to expensive for the return on investment, not sure.

I’m still a beginner with this game and love it. I feel like sitting around the 0 mark for income the entire game is a good thing. My example is take loan, drop to minus 3, then sell and go back to zero. Any thoughts from other players. I’m trying to understand maximizing turns and not sure if this thought process makes sense.
@Matt-ie2rn Жыл бұрын
Why is the level 1 iron such a good play? Almost all the players laid level 1 iron, but I would almost always develop it when I play. It doesn't give you great income or victory points. Just to replenish the board quickly? Isn't it better to replenish the board quickly with coal because the income is higher early on?
@kabyabanerjee78589 ай бұрын
Probably the level 1 iron gives you 4 free iron cubes right off the bat that you can then use to develop other level 1s. Also it only takes 1 coal for the level 1 iron and 5 quid which come very easily in the early game even if you buy coal from the market

Is 1:57:14 double-rail action legal? Don’t you lay the “double” railway in a sequence, and if so, the first railway (of the double-rail action) has no connection to the coal in Dudley in case of 1:57:14. Or IF he starts the first railway from Dudley, then there is no connection to the beer in Stafford (it’s not the red’s beer there). - Hope I’m wrong coz we are playing like: first link of the double-rail action must have access to two coal and one beer, but you cannot reach the needed resources with the second link of the double-rail action putting those two links at once, without the sequence.
@YourMichael Жыл бұрын
the beer only needs to be connected by the time the second rail link is put down for it to be legal. Hope this helped!

Something weird at 2:20:26 too, where the 2nd link didn't have access to coal. Is that legal?
@chrisdedavid1860 Жыл бұрын
2:20:23 Didn't know you could build the 2nd Link where it has no access to coal.
@AlexanderSudibjo Жыл бұрын
I initially thought the same but there's a purple link on Birmingham-Wasall and that's connected to the rest of the giant network. However, I don't think he should be able to build a link from Derby to Belper since that shouldn't be connected to his network. He has no building on Derby and he doesn't have a link on anything else that connects to Derby.
