I picked up the CFMOTO 700 CL-X on October 14, 2022 and on November 4, 2022 I turned 3000 miles. Aside from the annoying wonky gear indicator that changes from 1 to 6 at speed over 70mph I have had no issues. When it happens it just flashes back and forth, it doesn't affect the current motor speed, rpm, or transmission. It's just a sensor that thinks it's shifting from 1st to 6th. The first few times it happened with the cruise control set at 72 and I thought I had hit the rear brake. Then it happened in sync with a bump in the road and I thought I accidentally hit the front brake but I started paying closer attention saw that the dash was changing gear back and forth so it worked as intended disengaging the cruise control thinking it was back in 1st gear so I just throttle back up still in 6th gear as if nothing has happened. I dropped down to 67 engaged the cruise and went almost 22 miles without it happening before I got off the Thruway.
As for pet peeves I think the self cancelling turn signals turn off a bit too early, I would like to see a longer front fender and a proper rear fender and I do wish CFMOTO had brought the Adventure model that's available in Europe to the States as it comes with a small windscreen and saddlebags that aren't available in the US yet.
The tires are Pirelli Pirelli MT60 RS rubber f110/80 18; r180/55 17
The mirrors are EMGO Roadhawk Black Universal Mirror Set 10mm Long Stem $22 Mfr Part #: 20-25105 from from Parts Unlimited through John at iannacecyclesh... on Rt32 in Catskill with only 2 days from order to delivery.
The fuel bottle is a standard aluminum 1 liter and the separately sold bag/case is not Ridge but the RG-1060 from Rigg Gear as in nelsonrigg.com that I picked up from Cycle Gear that only opened a few months ago on Wolf Road in Albany. Go to cyclegear.com give them your email address for a 15% off coupon good online or in-store. So far I've gotten another 10% off coupon for the next purchase every time I've gone.
Overall, I'm more than pleased with the bike! As I said in the video, and both Cycle World and Rider Magazine both boldly proclaimed, these bikes are definitely not Chinese junk!

Thank you for the video and the feedback. I saw this at my local dealer and it really caught my eye. I've been researching information and everyone who has bought it loves it. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger.

Thanks for stopping in to watch my short video. I don't think you will be disappointed. Aside from the known issue of the faulty Reverse Gear Indicator Sensor that's replaced under the 2 year warranty I honestly can't find a reason to tell anyone not to buy this bike. All of the major motorcycle and lifestyle magazines all say that they were surprised by the technology offered on a bike for less than $7,000 and the high quality components make it hard to walk past it without a second look. While certainly not a flaw, as nobody is forcing us to buy a bike with no rear fender, I'll be 100% honest in saying that this bike and any bike with this type of rear wheel setup is HORRIBLE if you're caught in the rain. There is a small splash guard on Alibaba and Aliexpress but since there no aftermarket parts are available yet in the US, I'm working on one of my own.

Hi there. I have seen that other CL-X 700 owners have changed the gear position sensor that should be covered by warranty and the issue with the gear indicator on screen changing from gear 6 to 1 has been thus solved. Cheers !

Thanks for the view and comment. It's taken longer than expected but the part and install is covered under the 2 year unlimited mileage warranty. I was put at ease when the dealer called their parts supplier and he knew exactly what it was. Coming off older British bikes, Harleys, and a Vespa it just "feels" wrong to ride it in 5th gear at 6500rpm to make highway speeds. So until it's corrected, I'm enjoying the winding country back roads that post speeds from 35-55mph.

Thank you for this, I was eyeing this bike but hesitant as it's a Chinese bike with a reputation for manufacturing KTM parts at high standards. Your review is the only review riding the bike for more than just a test ride and calling it a review, the others are more like a first impressions. I can see by your recent vlogs, you're still riding it, so they must be doing something right.

Thank you for taking the time to watch AND comment! You are 100% correct that there were NO long term owner reviews to be found before I bought it which encouraged me to post these horrible quality short clips with mileage updates. Unfortunately, I have to report with great sadness that I experienced a major failure of something in the transmission a few night ago. Fortunately it was all recorded on my gopro and gps that verifies I was merely downshifting from 55mph for a stoplight when it happened. The bike is being towed to the dealer this week and they have given me permission to record the disassembly to share what happened. Even with the problem with the cruise control that I've posted about specifically only a few other people have mentioned it in their comments and on the CF MOTO CLX700 owners group on Facebook. facebook.com/groups/1175475552872089/ I think a HUGE mistake by CFMOTO and disservice and disadvantage to them as well as all of us is that there is no global uniformity on the name of the bike!!!! Some countries identify the bike as the 700CLX, while others use 700CL-X, CLX 700, CL-X 700, and other variations with and without spaces! It makes it infinitely harder to find everything! It's even worse on the CFMOTO FORUM cfmoto-forum.com/index.php as there are only a handful of posts by owners other than people looking for accessories and service manuals. With all the owner data available I think they should have reached out to all of us with or without incentives like shirts or hats & other swag to share our experiences and build the owners network. Considering the Cruise Control/Gear Indicator Sensor problem there are still no negative reviews. Owners are saying they don't care about it! My dealer told me they are looking to redesign the Shift Drum for the next model release or possibly retrofitting those with continued or further serious problems. I can't honestly be outraged or blame them. It's the inaugural model worldwide and as you noticed and pointed out, they didn't give the bikes to anyone for extended periods to discover any major issues, and the dealers can't sell bikes with lots of miles as new so they keep test rides to a minimum. For complete disclosure, the dealer put only 1.1miles on this one and I didn't even test ride it. I walked out the door with the keys and they had already registered it and put my license plates on it. I was sold on the reviews, that I could get one foot flat on the ground and the clutch wasn't an issue for my arthritis. If you hit the facebook group page you'll see my brutally candid pleas for others to start sharing data, and specifics of problems, and I finished the last ride with 7,792 miles using 6.4l/100km with an average speed of 46.6mph over 181.9hours since 10/14/22. The low average speed is due to the rural mountain area I primarily ride on with occasional faster runs on the NYS Thruway. Because of limitations of the length and open areas of the surrounding roads contributing crosswinds I've pretty much topped the bike out at 113mph on the speedometer which Google Maps and the free Speedometer Pro app have GPS verified as ~only~104mph. That's in 6th gear arounb 8700rpm. The bike does top out at 10,000 but there just isn't a long enough wind shielded road with a clear view that I'd risk running into either law enforcement or wildlife! In actuality, CFMOTO has been making quads or four wheelers and side by sides for decades and motorcycles in the rest of the world for many years now. They would not have been able to forge the relationships they have with other world class component manufacturers if they weren't up for the task. These are fun, bikes with far more than you'd expect to get from any other company at this price level. I can only and hopefully not finally add that CFMOTO hasn't left me or as far as I can tell any other owners in the dark. They've responded to the dealers with answers and agreed to change parts under warranty with no hassle. The flat out truth is that the big 3 American and countless other manufacturers have been making vehicles for over a century now and even Tesla who has been building cars for years, all have problems with first year models. Since it happened the other night I have spent hours looking, but I appear to be the only person that has happened this problem and there are owners who claim to have logged more miles that I have For the overall quality, enjoyment, and dealer experience in good and bad so far, I would still recommend taking a test ride and seeing for yourself. My email can be found at my channel about page so keep me posted if you have additional questions or are hesitant to take the plunge!! I've dug up so much info that even my dealer didn't know, like the mythical T-Box mentioned in the owners manual. It ~was~ currently only available to ~some~ dealers for the Sport version in Mexico only but is now offered in the Australian Adventure version! Or that the Sport does but the Heritage doesn't connect to the CFMOTO APP!! Hopefully they'll realize how ridiculous that it is and make a software update at some point. Who knows, maybe you can help me get some parts from the Adventure version that's sold in Australia and other European markets but not in the US! If you haven't found my comments around the web I have been posting this anywhere I can For this "Chinese bike" CFMOTO has licensed the 650cc motor from Kawasaki, punched it to 699cc and a different tuning. CFMOTO also partnered with Austrian KTM in 2013 and are currently making the engines for several of KTM's bikes. The CL-X has Japanese KYB suspension, German Bosch Fuel Injection, German Continental dual channel ABS, Italian Pirelli tires. The Heritage comes stock with Spanish JJuan brakes, and the Sport model has the Italian Brembo 4 piston dual rotors brakes that several reviewers admitted was too much and unnecessary for a bike of this power. And, Brembo acquired JJuan in November 2021 I guess because why not partner with or buy out your closest competitor!? Throw in a 6speed with a slipper clutch for less than $7000 and you'd be foolish to buy a use Japanese bike that doesn't come with a warranty that stretches from 2 years in the US, 3 in most European markets and all the way out to FIVE YEARS in Canada! I'd politely suggest that you... DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate self canceling turn signals DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate gauge clusters that automatically light up if you're in a tunnel or riding under thick trees, AND gets brighter as the sun goes down DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate riding hands free or resting your throttle hand with cruise control that works from 4th gear from 24mph for small town roads and their speed bumps all the way up to 80mph on the highway DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate Pirelli tires that handle great in the rain at highway speeds above 70mph, at your own risk, of course!! DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate getting better than 40mpg when non-ethanol premium is still $4.50 a gallon! DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate fully adjustable front and rear suspension systems DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you like having your inverted forks covered in dead bugs, slime, and dirt that will corrode and chew up your fork seals because this bike has shields over the exposed front suspension. DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate watercooled, fuel injected, dual ABS, six speed bikes that come with a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty And absolutely definitely DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you like skidding out of control downshifting from 6th to 3rd in an emergency or race. CONGRATULATIONS and thanks for taking your time to watch and comment, I do appreciate it! I'm 5'4" pushing 200 so I understand!! A third gripe you might come up with is that there is a known bug with the Cruise Control that only happens to me in 6th Gear above 68mph on the speedometer. Others don't have, don't notice, or don't care. It's in a few of my videos along with a fix that has worked for some but not for me. If you're handy you can try heading it off. Simply pull the side cover unscrew the sensor, remove the copper washer, replace with Teflon tape, and put it back together. The explanation and links to the fix are in the comments of the video I uploaded for CFMOTO a few days ago kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZPblIaAr5iFn9U and I posted the full story here before the copper washer tip came directly from CFMOTO facebook.com/groups/1175475552872089/?multi_permalinks=1693514957734810 You can also see what others are doing right and wrong at the Facebook owners group facebook.com/groups/1175475552872089?sorting_setting=CHRONOLOGICAL and while I'm disappointed there's not a whole lot of information being shared there is this CFMOTO forum cfmoto-forum.com/index.php#c9 What might be a fourth gripe, as some don't care, is that the speedometers are off. They run fast from 1-3mph up to 45mph, 5mph at 55-80mph, and as much as 11mph fast once you see 113mph on the speedometer. I use the Speedometer Pro app that runs off GPS without using your phones data plan/time and give you a cool graph and map when your trip is over. I back it up with Google Maps. 80mph on the speedometer is verified 75mph and I have cruised past many NYS Troopers without a problem. A possible fifth? They didn't think the USB port under the seat all the way through. It's mounted vertically so any moisture in the air can settle in it if the bike is kept outside. I kept getting WARNING MOISTURE DETECTED IN CHARGING PORT popups on my phone and I rode all winter so it was an issue that I solved with a swivel connector I got on ebay that I leave in with a cable routed under the seat and tucked along the gas tank. I plug that into a small USB hub I keep in a magnetic and strapped tank bag so I'm good for phone, GPS, and a soon to come 3rd action camera. I got lucky and had to send back both a GoPro 8 and the new 11. Be careful if you go the magnetic bag route. Day 3 at the dealer and I picked up some staples that scratched the clear coat. I don't really care as it's a rider not a show bike. Finally, I'm in the Catskill area of Upstate NY and due to a sore butt Friday I ran 60 miles shy of 10,000 since October (and the bike sat at the dealer all of April and May) due to the Dunlop Roadsmart 3 tires I replaced the Pirellis with because they do not like the rain. It's happen sometime this week if it stops raining. I've done well over 500 miles in heavy rain on the stock Pirelli tires and if I could afford to put new ones on every 3700-4000 miles I would. They're just too soft to get any more mileage out of them. I pretty much do 200-500 miles whenever I go out so if you're within range and would like to meet up for a ride or coffee give me a shout. One regular run is the Thruway South to Nyack and 9W North to 32N for the scenic return trip. My email is on the YT About tab. Sorry for the overload but if you have an other questions to make your introduction well informed please ask here or email. Best of luck with yours and keep that odometer turning!!!

Thank you for your view and comment. As a safety feature the bike is not designed to start if it is in gear. Also, it will shut down if you put it in gear with the side kick stand down. Since the first oil change service I have been doing quick checks of cables, brakes, tires and oil level before every ride. I am now due for the 3000mile service for oil, air, and fuel filters, fluids change and overall inspection. I am also hoping they will make the Adventure model windshield, and saddle bag pannier mounts, and that small tail piece to tie down a bag or small case. I tried contacting dealers in Europe but they did not respond to my request that they ship those parts to the USA. Today I rode another 137 miles in the rain to test new boots, jacket and gloves. The bike handles very well and the Pirelli tires are very comfortable as they handle water very well. I will be making a rear fender and extending the front fender a little lower as there is just too much spray at speeds above 55mph. I hope you continue to enjoy yours!

Thanks for watching and commenting. That Suzuki is a good looking machine but it wasn't on their website when I was looking in October and I'm almost 40 miles from the nearest dealer so that wasn't to my liking. Budget versus features is getting very close in this size of bike which they are now touting as entry level. I don't think anything that will do 120-145mph should be marketed as a beginner's bike. Honestly though, it has a few more horses which makes its top end much higher than the CL-X but if you add the dealer mark-up, freight, destination charges, tire tax, and other associated fees, you're more like $2,000 off AND the Suzuki doesn't have Cruise Control. Plus, the CFMOTO comes with a 2 year warranty against Suzuki's 1 year. Best of luck if you go for it, but whatever you ride, keep that odometer turning!!

I hope you have great luck with them. Lots of people on the Facebook owner's group had problems with the levers. Because they aren't exact the sensors are slightly off and the Cruise Control disengages thinking the clutch or brake has been pulled. As for the Radiator cover some reported sharp increase of temperature in city traffic as you're covering almost 10% if not more of the radiator. Mirror, frame sliders are pretty good but also be wary of the CL-X pannier mounts. Some of the holes were way off and had to be redrilled. I have seen the official CFMOTO soft saddle bags which are ok but in my opinion not worth $400. I'd rather spend that much for a better name brand. They also wanted $149.99 for rear brake pads!!!! I found a set of British made at perfectbrakes.com for $36 delivered. It sucks that proper licensed aftermarket products take so long but they mostly only come after a bike has hit certain sales levels. Otherwise it's a complete gamble to pay licensing fees and spend millions to make samples and book manufacturing time at factories.

Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! CFMOTO could not have used parts from world leaders in motorcycle technology unless the quality of their own in-house parts was up to the task. They have been making four wheelers and side-by-sides for decades and motorcycles for almost 10 years globally, but are just entering the US in 2022. This "Chinese bike" has licensed the 650cc motor from Kawasaki, punched it to 699cc with a retune. As you noted, CFMOTO also partnered with Austrian KTM in 2013 and are currently making the engines for several of KTM's bikes. In addition, the 700 CL-X has dual Japanese KYB suspension, German Bosch Fuel Injection, German Continental dual channel ABS, Italian Pirelli tires. The Heritage also comes stock with Spanish JJuan brakes, and the Sport model has the Italian Brembo 4 piston dual rotors brakes that several reviewers admitted was too much and unnecessary for a bike of this power. And, Brembo acquired JJuan in November 2021 I guess because why not partner with or buy out your closest competitor!? Throw in a 6 speed transmission with a slipper clutch for less than $7000 and you'd be a fool to buy a use Japanese bike that doesn't come with a warranty that stretches from 2 years in the US, 3 in most European markets and all the way out to FIVE YEARS in Canada! There are also a few Harley Davidson dealers that are now selling CFMOTO bikes. I feel the quality is very good. What's frustrating is/was the bad timing between Covid-19 causing supply chain problems and possibly CFMOTO's lack of confidence and anticipation in sales because replacement parts are always weeks away. The bike was released in late 2021 and didn't reach the US until 2022 and the 2023s are just showing up now so I don't feel that people complaining about lack of aftermarket parts are warranted. No company is going to spend thousands or millions of dollars to make a line of aftermarket parts for a vehicle that hasn't proven itself on the global market. There are a few items available on AliExpress but most come with the need to modify in order to fit properly such as hand levers and pannier mounts. Another silly thing is people complaining about warning codes on the gauge and a loss of power in the middle RPM range yet almost all of them have removed the catalytic converters and back pressure offered by the noise reducing baffled mufflers. The company hasn't offered any tuning maps yet, but it seems they'd rather annoy their neighbors, risk blowing up the engines and void the two to five year warranty CFMOTO offers just to get another 3hp. I get the desire to customize but I don't understand why anyone would buy a bike that didn't have enough power or the look that they prefer. Then there are people who run straight open exhausts screaming LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES. They're usually the ones that remove safety features including reflectors, turn signals, and mirrors, as well as relocating the license plates so that the headlights of the vehicle behind them don't reflect off it at night. They're likely also going to be the ones riding in shorts, t-shirts, and sneakers or sandals, and if the law allows, ditching helmets as well. I shrug my shoulders and wish them well. And I'd politely suggest that you... @@johnDukemaster You're welcome I wish more owners would come forward and post their experiences. It would help greatly help CFMOTO if they knew what people are thinking.

Thanks for taking your time to watch and comment, I do appreciate it. Unfortunately I don't know how to fix or hack that annoying early turn cancellation. Instead of leaning into the corner of turns to make a strong exit, I've tried to make a note of adjusting or not moving my body so that I don't lean into the turn too early to prevent it turning off too soon. While not directly related, I've spoken "off the record" to local law enforcement and NYS Troopers who have said they understand that motorcycles don't have the weight to trigger or activate every turn signal traffic light and have said that instead of waiting for a car to pull into the turn lane behind us and trigger it, we can wait for the light activating the opposite direction traffic and go through our red turn light when there is a safe distance between oncoming traffic. Keep that odometer turing!!!

@@700clx2 Thanks for responding. Went to my local dealer today. It’s going to be a process. I ll drop the bike off when I’m ready and they will look in to it. For now every 5 + seconds or so I keep on turning the signal on. At a full stop there is no problem. Enjoy.

That display is pretty pathetic. It would have cost CF 50 bucks to put a tft

I think it's part of the design language. The Honda Rebel 500 and scrambler bikes have the same thing, and they cost more than this
