I think the B-pillar detached from the sill line, or the sill detached from the platform edge. Anyway, these tests are great. Good job, IIHS. I really admire your work and whenever I talk with someone about car safety, I always tell them to watch the IIHS crash-tests.

I’m no engineer but I’m guessing it got a poor because the side structure collapsed substantially more then any other I’ve seen so far.

You can see how much intrusion from just viewing the rear passenger camera view, focusing on the B-pillar.

same with VW. I still remember when IIHS introduced the driver side small overlap, the Jetta got a poor, VW added a bar to the driver side then got an acceptable. Then IIHS then crashed the passenger side and got a poor again because VW didn't bother putting the bar on the passenger side. That left an extremely poor taste

This is also a car from 2016 mind you... It's basically the same car. So yeah it's gonna not fair as well as some of the others which are newer (such as the Hyundai/Kia). Mind you again Toyota also got poor on the Camry and that came out 2017 soooo

When this car first came out, I was impressed be the rear seat torso airbags & good crash test ratings, but this might be the final nail in its coffin.

So what changed in the test??? The 16-22 initial test has a score of "good" for all the categories, but now this "updated" test has 16-22 rated poor. EDIT: Nevermind I found the answer from the IIHS test explanation. They up'd the weight of the sled they test with to align with the higher count of trucks and SUVs on the market.

On April 6th got tboned on the passenger side, other vehicle traveling around 100kph. Was very lucky to walk away with just bad bruising

What a horrible POS. No surprise it got a poor with the lower sill of the B-pillar virtually becoming detached from the structure of the car.

i notice the white barrier went inside of the mallibu and door sillk come off+ the door went to the driver that why injury came and the door when comeing to the driver it moved the steering wheel colume in the rear seat the rear dummy hit the airbag and then hit the bottom of the airbagkk

스바루 아웃백은 솔직히 저기 끼이면 안되는게.. 크로스컨트리 왜건이라서 차고가 높으니까 충돌 받아낼 면적도 많고 필러도 하나 더 있으니 논외로 쳐야함.. 그러면 나머지 6대중에서 말리부가 제일 낡은 모델이니까 어느정도 감안해줘야지.. 물론 감안해줘도 실망스러운 결과고 dn8이 잘만들었긴 함

the seat turned right leading the dummys head and pelvis hitting the bottom of the airbag + the steering wheel column moved right and the pelvis hit the door dash causeing paint to get in to the door dash and then the head moved to us turning our side causeing broken neck

I recomend an attorney if your in any coupe or sedan and get broadside impact from lifted pickup truck. There are laws on the books for front bumper height no higher than 30 inches. OTR Big rigs are made that way. So "Mr.Compensating" will have to pay up after roadside carnage.

No, this is the updated side crash test. Faster with a heavier barrier, 82% more energy than the original test. The 2013 was evaluated in the original test.

Lovely..just came back from enterprise rentals…Chevy Malibu…🤬! Seen this AFTER driving the dirty POS home. Whoever detailed this car must have been legally Lind..with no hands! Cigarette ashes LINING in the door handle compartment..huge cigarette burns in both front seats..not looking good for this company, or Chevy for that matter!
