Had a little drive with my son thru the rush hour city and a little trip to our weekend house outside the city, but you drive basically from town to town...so 44MPG. Beautiful. The engine is very refined, and works well with the light car. It is not over or under powered. It has all the bells and whistles that I didn t even see in the prospect. Driver monitoring system, hill holder, tire pressure sensor, all the cameras etc. And it drives well, the seats are not bad, the interior is hard plastic, but it doesn t look bad. Frankly I am glad to sit in a "back to the roots" car. It has all the bells and whistles of a modern car with all the safety assistants, and it is simple to use. I have to smile when people say 150 BHP is not enough. I took my test on a Triumph 2000 that got by with 90 bhp, as did the Rover 2000. I think the Rover 2000TC had about 102 BHP and was considered "Quite fast". Testers tend to go out of their way to find something to criticise on a Dacia, and I'm so pleased you avoided that trap and gave it what I think is a very fair review. Its certainly on my list these days whereas the first generation Duster was worthy, but a bit wide of the mark dynamically for me. This one seems to have upped the Duster game measurably.

I'm on my 3rd Dacia. 1st was a long time ago in North Africa and oddly a downgrade from my trusty Lada. Which died finally in Morocco. I was lent a Tangier assembled Dacia, based on a Renault something. The rear seat belt was a long strap across the back seat. Only the front windows would wind down and was lethal over 50mph. 20 years later I need a car in London, Euro 6. I buy for 12k an almost new 65 plate Duster. 70,000 miles and 5 yrs later p/ex for £7,000 and got another ex demo 71 plate Prestige 15dci. The old Duster was practice and good value and felt it on long caravan trips to France. The new car, has comfortable seats. That alone makes it worth the £17,200 I paid. Same engine, except has adblue. Pulls the wobble box easily and seems another excellent value for money car. I have friends who laugh at my Duster, yes I could spend more. @@tinotino9698 Where are they for the same prace? Can you link me an automatic Suzuki Vitara for price of Dacia Duster automatic? In my country price difference is 3k, meaning Vitara is more expensive by quite alot if we go by budget class. Ssang Yong is bankrupt since 2020. December, in Europe they do not procude any replacament parts anymore and market value for that car is 0, buying it right now would be financial trap. But even if we go by idea like this, again automatic Ssang Yong is 4k more expensive than Dacia Duster.

@@skytehpanda Mrs Mkali got her MG ZS EV for £21500 otr in Oct 20, however, they are a lot more expensive now. Amusingly, it is worth more now than when first bought! I went for a test drive in the Duster Bi-fuel but then heard about the Jogger so waited only to find the Jogger isn't coming in Bi-fuel to the UK :( Duster it is then.

Aside the fact that this is a wonder of a car, I think we need to downplay a bit the hard vs soft plastic interior; youre not touching those parts all the time, I know it feels better when you do, but is it worth the extra £5k?

Just got my bifuel prestige duster. I left the dealer and filled the lpg tank from empty for £31 for 43 litres 72p a Ltr!. I did 260 miles with 90 left in the tank. Went to my local Morrisons and filled it back up with 32 litres for £25! 79p a ltr. currently it costs no extra to spec the bi fuel and it’s a no brainier! It’s a great feeling seeing the litres go up faster than the £. It drives great and it’s cheap to run! I’ve had vag group cars and the last was a very comfy c4 space tourer. I just wish I bought this sooner it’s such a good deal.

Dacia are going the Skoda way. The £5995 bargain basement family car is now a dropped concept. Shame.
@bonzobanana12 жыл бұрын
Yes and depreciation is very low which is good for buying new but means probably a car to avoid secondhand. I've read that some of the Dacia spares can be expensive, starting to get to similar prices to Renault parts but don't know if that is true and reliability is I believe middle of the road but I would of thought that would get worse now that Dacia's are getting more complicated. So the value is not as amazing as it was and the same could be said for MG whose cars are far less competitive now.

@@bonzobanana1 I see a lot of entry models on 13 to 16 plates, all look in good condition, so can't have been thrown together. All someone needs as basic, reliable family car or a spare. They are silly for dropping the base line model.

@@danieljames2015 The reliabilityindex was a useful indicator of reliability but it went offline last year and never had any Dacia models featured so must admit I'm unsure about their reliability. Sometime ago though Dacia's imported into the UK were made in India and very poor quality but I think are coming from the Romanian factory now. I guess the closer they get to Renaults the closer the car will be to Renault reliability which is middle of the road. As ever the most reliable cars are dominated by Japanese brands.

A few things...LPG means that you can't park it in your underground garage, either. Safe? 3 stars on Eurocap, but this is because it doesn't have some electronic emergency braking or sth like that. So-so handling. I know the owners love them, and that's great but personally, nah. Unless I lived on a farm, then the 4wd diesel would be a great budget workhorse instead of a Land Rover.

... and yet on a few recent surveys of customer satisfaction and reliability.... your 'premium brand' Tiguan falls behind Dacia. Buy a 3yr old car and have no warranty, 'n all. I've a colleague who owns a Tiguan and a neighbour owning another. They like them, but they're more expensive to run, maintain and tax. Furthermore, the Tiguan is a much bigger, heavier car... so I fail to see the comparison!? 🤔 I've ordered a bi fuel Prestige model Duster in Arizona Orange. £17k for a 45 mile round trip daily to work.
