You’re so lucky. It’s already in the 40s at night here in Boston. Everything has to come inside already 😤. Always a treat seeing your collection.

Yeah, cool temps are late this year. But our weather can shift overnight. I’m not looking forward to the cold either. Haha. But our plants need their rest.

I love your videos Ana. I also grow cacti🌵in Vegas and am trying to deal with the weather extremes. I agree that plastic is not great for heat, but if it were white/light colored it might perform better. The temperature difference based on just color can be extreme in the Vegas sun.

Great video Ana!!! I believe the monstrose cereus is Cereus repandus monstrosus. What a steal on the Euphorbia lactea variagata crest!!! That is sooo cheap!!!! I've paid 15 to 17.00 for plants that size!!! What a wonderful deal!!! I just completed fall exodus last night. Everything is inside now!! Had to wait out a couple of tree frogs that were living in my tillandsia xerographica. But last night when I looked, they had left. It's like they knew. Last night it got down to 35° so maybe nature told them to go to the ground or inside our mimosa tree . I very much enjoyed the tour!!! Yes, the Euphorbia decaryi spirosticha does do a bit better with some shade. Thanks for sharing Ana!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, out to Las Vegas, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!! ✌️💖🌵🌺🌳🥀🪴🏵🌿🌹🌱🌸🌴🌷🌲🌾🌼😃👍

Hi Ana! I thoroughly enjoyed part 1 and 2 of your Fall collection update. I love seeing your beautiful cacti and succulent. Your Aloe collection is amazing! I’m with you on plastic pots. I have a few in my collection and one thing I notice is that they don’t take the Texas heat very well. I’ve had a couple crack apart only after a couple of years. Thanks for sharing your wonderful collection with us!
@CactusCaffeine2 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s true! Plastic pots lasts for about 2 years till they crack when I move them. One time I left out a plastic spoon that I use for planting out under the sun, I found it the next day bent and melted. 😂

Enjoyed part 2, lovely to see your Monkey's Tail blooming for you finally! When I bought my very mature Monkey's tail it was in a sorry state, I chopped it back to healthy growth, then after 3 years, this year was the first time I ever saw it flower, in abundance too! The flowers are gorgeous! I even had a flower bloom on a little baby stem from this year's growth too, so it just shows the stems don't need to be fat or long and hairy, as long as the mother plant itself is mature. Enjoyed seeing all your plants, thanks for the tour 😁🌵🌞

Oh! Thank you for sharing your experience Claire. Maybe my plant is seed grown. Haha. I didn’t ask when I bought it. But good to know that once it is mature, flowers develop even on shorter stems. ☺️

Apple trees love loads of water. I have one growing in the middle of a natural spring, the ground is always wet, it loves it. The other two I planted up on the hillside don't get much water and they are a third of the size of the spring-living one and sickly looking. Actually they haven't grown at all since we bought them a few years ago. But the one living in the spring is flourishing!

I enjoyed watching😊🤲💞How's the Ferocactus cylindraceus? The Lobivias are doing well for you👌You should try growing a Homalocephala texensis. They have the most amazing flowers.

12:17, Congrats on your blooms. It took a while didn't it? Maybe it has to get to a certain size. Lyn Desert Plants of Avalon has had these for many years and they bloom profusely. You're in for a treat from now on probably. Thank you for posting Ana.

Hi Ana! Was wondering if you have videos on tips on how to choose the right pot size and depth for different cacti? When do I use those nice wide but shallow pots? Thanks!
@ZiggySearchfieldCactus2 жыл бұрын
Excellent Ana 🙂 Might be best to give the apple tree a good soaking and then a mulch to keep it from drying out again. Mine was suffering in the drought too. I had one of those grafter Euphorbias too but the frost killed it outright 🙄
@CactusCaffeine2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your tips on my apple tree. Maybe I should add more garden soil around it too. Our soil is too rocky.

I have a theory as to why your plants are doing better in terra cotta pots. Terra cotta is very porous and when you water your plants the water seeps slowly out the sides of the pot and evaporates. As the water evaporates, it loses heat and cools the soil inside the pot. The dryer the air, the faster the water evaporates, and the cooler the roots become. This is the principal of the Mexican olla. This is the terra cotta pitcher you often see in southwestern homes hanging from cords on the shady side of porches.
@CactusCaffeine2 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s a smart theory! Makes so much sense. I will look up those olla pots now. 😃👍🏼

@rastafarieverliving2 жыл бұрын
question, how can i maintain the size of my cactus? I dont want them to grow big
@CactusCaffeine2 жыл бұрын
Keep them in a small pot as long as you can. I talked about this in part one of my falll update video. 😉
@zcoanmcoan15342 жыл бұрын
Keep it in a small shallow pot. If you want it to stay small and look beautiful you could plant it in 90% pumice. You can also stop watering as often. Id say if you want to hard grow something(Keep it small) you should water a lot less. Fertilize a lot less. A smaller pot. And barely any nutrience in the soil.
