This review sounds like all 3 of you would choke if you walked out in the rain after this review. Your panning the Maverick for being exactly what it’s intended to be. This is a compact 20 to 32 thousand dollar smaller economy pickup for practical light duty use. Your panning for not being a 40 to 75 thousand dollar big motored heavyweight comfy class pickup. When did having 191 to 250 hp in a 3700 pound car or truck become under powered? This thing is quick for its price. Your comments on driving it are what the truck should be. It just flat out “worked” and did what it’s supposed to do. Your complaining the skis did not fit in it very well. What do yo expect for a short bed truck? You complained about the economy programming of the transmission. You were not happy it did not have a fancy interior. You did not like the lack of push button starting. Basically you did not like it because it is not an SUV, but it is a pickup. When you get around to testing the hybrid Maverick, make sure you get the XL hybrid with only the $100 2000 pound tow package and the $650 copilot safety package. (Your consumer reports after all.) get the $24,000 truck, not the $33,000 loaded Version. Then actually use it as a knockabout runabout.

@rightlanehog31512 жыл бұрын
I would welcome a return of the simple, small pickup. As a matter of fact, Toyota still makes a single cab Hilux with a manual gearbox bolted to their tried and true 2.7 engine that would fit the bill perfectly. It is entirely possible other companies still make similar pickups. It is my observation that the Maverick has been treated with kid gloves in every other review I have seen. In a few years we will know whether the Maverick was just another in the long line of over-hyped vehicles we have seen over the years or whether it stands the test of time. Agreed; the Maverick and Santa Cruz have brought attention to the smaller unibody pickup segment and as a result more people are discovering or rediscovering how good the Ridgeline is.

I found the crack about the material in Mavericks doors to be unhelpful. Comments like this are why automotive interiors are a sea of grey rubbish - any attempt at innovation causes the neophobe journos to freak out. I preferred Doug Demuro's take on the Maverick interior where he helpfully discussed all of the unique storage locations, something no one in this CR video even discussed.

Do yourselves and everyone else a favor and stick to reviewing overpriced luxury cars and $40,000 SUVs. You obviously are missing the fact that a value vehicle is going to forgo things like push button start, and power leather seats. And fun fact, perhaps you should review this thing called a tonneau cover before crying about not having a trunk in a freaking truck.

EV adoption is accelerating every year. Exponential not linear. The only limiting factor is batteries. The number of electric vehicles and types of vehicles and trucks is growing. Many people are holding off buying a new car or scooter until the electric vehicle they want becomes available. Electric vehicles are just better. No noise, no emissions, less fuel costs, less maintenance costs and amazing technology. Gasoline and diesel are OLD polluting technology. So last century. Electric cars, electric trucks, electric buses, electric trash haulers, electric snow blowers, electric lawn mowers, electric weed whackers, electric hedge trimmers, electric snow mobiles, electric water craft, electric garden tools, electric mechanic tools, electric motor cycles, electric bicycles, electric scooters, electric farm tractors, electric construction equipment, electric delivery vehicles, ...... everything is going electric. No worries about starting after sitting for a few months. Gas always needs repairs. If you care about the future for your children care about climate change

EV’s are not zero emission vehicles unless you’re getting your electricity from renewable sources. Until EV’s can charge quickly and the number of charging stations greatly increases they are not practical for me.

I would sooner get a 4 year old Ridgeline for the same price as this and it will have better resale, reliability, drive, bed space, and power.

Once the maverick starts to reach $30k, its not a good value anymore
@KB-bh9hp2 жыл бұрын
Well, most Mavericks are going to be like 20-27k, which is a great value. You really need to start ticking off a lot of option boxes to get it above 30k.

can we cancel CR who are these people if the mavrick was so bad how come it's sold out

bc its cheap
@soiceyboy332 жыл бұрын
Because it's cheap! People are looking for affordable new cars these days. The average new car price is over 40k and most pickups are well into the 60- 80k range. I bet if the Maverick was 40k, the hype would die down instantly

Ford couldn't make a basic Little Fiesta that would last as long as its payments did so why would anyone buy something like this? I get the feeling that sometime in the near future the Maverick is going to be the punchline of a lot of jokes.

I owned a 2010 Focus and it was an all around terrific little car. Also, the Ford F-150 has been a best seller for decades, so maybe you don't know what you're talking about, yes?
