Nice video. I used to own a 2013 altima and did cvt transmision fluid change. I use the top hole to fill in the new fluid. There is a transmission fluid cap, very small, similar to the oil ruler cap, but with no ruler. Then I use the overflow valve to remove the excess fluid after transmission is up to temperature. So I think instead of jack your truck up and use a pump, you could fill new fluid from that transmisson fluid cap with a funnel. To open the cap, you will need a small hook or philip head screw driver. I recently bought a 2023 Frontier. So your video is very helpful for me. Thank you.

if you drain approx 2 qt, fill 2 qt, drain and fill again the second time for the same 2 qt (both drain and fill), why at the end, you need to put at position 3 and drain again (timeline 6:37)? Isn't the fluid already at the exact same?
@gravelpounder19539 ай бұрын
Position 3 is to set the ATF level at "Operating Temperature". ATF expands a little as it heats up so the cool fluid you pumped in needs to be adjusted after the transmission reaches it normal operating temperature...50 degree C or 122 F. I used an infrared thermometer and took reading off the bottom of the pan ( dead center Left to Right and back to front) to approximate the Op. Temp. Hope this helps...

Let the truck cool to ambient temperature. Catch and measure the ATF that you drain and from the pan…may be a little tricky not to spill the residual fluid in the pan as you remove it. Pump that amount into the transmission. Run truck 3 minutes then do the second drain…good luck!! Dan

Yes, same procedure just measure and add the amount tge pan held to the 1st time refill.

Okay, stupid question time....2nd drain and refill...are you putting the same 2 quarts you just drained out back in ?🤔 I see you're using a funnel to refill the quart bottle.🤔 So did you buy two quarts for this job or four??

After refilling the second time. How much runs out of the overflow?
@gravelpounder19534 ай бұрын
If you replace the same amount that you drain out, the amount should be minimal. The ATF expands with heat so that is why you will get a bit of additional fluid drain, but it should not be more than 2-4 ounces on average. Hope this helps

It's emission regulations. It's not my field, but in engineering school I had a professor who was very vocal with his opinions, which I agree with. It's mostly the annual tests that many states require. They can't predict what stupid people will do trying to service their cars, so they make it hard enough that they won't try. That's pretty much it. I like having clean air compared to what I remember growing up, but it's gone too far. I've built many engines including in modern vehicles, yet I'm on KZbin right now trying to figure out how to get damn oil in my transmission without the stupid ass adapter. I am so glad I didn't get into this industry, otherwise I'd have to blame myself!

It’s as if once DIYers have gotten the hang of the last overly complicated procedure, the engineers say hold my beer….
@gravelpounder19535 күн бұрын
It’s worse than that. There has been legislation but forth to eliminate aftermarket parts sales to non-dealer business, I was ask to sign a petition against it when I was buying the ATF for the Frontier. The guy at NAPA said the car dealers want to eliminate all private shops and DYI repairs. Their complaint is they don’t make enough money!

Wow, what a bunch of garbage to go thru just to change the transmission fluid. A simple dipstick and drain plug would do the job just fine but manufacturers want to discourage customers from servicing their own vehicles but more importantly, want the customer to neglect their transmission so it fails so you must buy another vehicle.
