@David: Villanueva is a well-known surname in the Spanish world, including Mexico. Snoop pronounced Villeneuve like that. As this director created so many films that are between near-great and great, he is overdue for recognition by any standard. Cuaron, del Toro and Inarritu have all won best director and the latter two have best pictures, it is my (and many other film fans') wish that Villeneuve also be honored. Just a fun and lighthearted statement.

I wish I stuck with "Compartment No. 6", but I switched at last second in favor of "The Hand of God". I just didn't expect "The Worst Person in the World" to get snubbed. I didn't predict "Titane" to get nominated, though, thinking that it may not be that accessible for the voters compared to other non-English nominees. Still glad that "Compartment No. 6" got recognized, since it is one of the best I've seen in 2021, along with movies like "The Worst Person in the World". Personal pick to win is "Drive My Car".

Guys we have to talk about how different the Globes feel this year. Every year we’ve been conditioned to expect some BS from them. Music, Emily in Paris, Cordeen, Leto, the Globes were considered like that awards ceremony that wasn’t worth taking seriously, because of their preference to big star names and easily impressionable *cough* corruptible *cough* voting group. This year they delivered some credible nominations without going to the extremes, like the BAFTA did. Let’s hope for a better future for the Globes.

I haven't seen all 6 international feature frontrunners yet, but if I had to kick one of the ones I HAVE seen out of the competition, it would be Worst Person in the World, without question. Great movie, but not better than Titane or Hand of God, and I imagine not better than A Hero, Drive My Car or Flee, either (though I'll hold my tongue on those ones until I've seen em). Worst Person is definitely leagues ahead of Compartment No. 6, tho.
