Thank you for the video. I test drove a 2023 Civic Sport (2.0L NA) and Iike the look of the sport and all. But the 2.0L NA is just slow. I felt like I took a major step back in the power coming from a 9th gen Accord Sport 2.4L CVT. I kept putting the Civic Sport into Sport mode to get it to climb up out of the hole it was in. I will go test the EX trim along with the Sport Touring to see which one I like. I do know that Civic Sport Touring has the Bose audio and I hear it is top notch for this segment.

for anyone wondering, I bought one a few days ago, had driven a 10th gen and you can tell there is something different, but not too much. so far i have 31.2mpg average but every time I put it in sport, it goes to the 20's for my average over 200 or less miles :)

What trim do you have?
@SIIKAP12 жыл бұрын
@BRI336 ALBANY oh I was referring to Logan. But after reading your comment-wow…those are some impressive numbers. I hope the 2022 2.0 can get above the listed 33 combined MPG.
@SIIKAP12 жыл бұрын
@BRI336 ALBANY I really love the 2022 sport hatch, which has a sport tuned suspension and I reckon will feel a bit more fun than the rest. MPG estimates are only 29/37/33, which is decent, but like you said-doesn’t exactly cut it these days. But it’s a trade off I may be willing to make for the car. Otherwise an Insight Hybrid may be the move. And yeah your 10th gen is more powerful than the 11th 1.5T on the dynos. So keeping it may be worth it.
@SIIKAP12 жыл бұрын
@BRI336 ALBANY yeah the new one is rated at 180, but the old one was under rated at 174. It dynos at 165 to 172 at the wheels (which may be around 190-200 at the crank). The 2022 dynos a bit lower at the wheels. The plus side is that the 2022 is supposed to be slightly more fuel efficient, which could explain the power nerf. Yes, VERY slim pickings. My local dealer had two 2022 sedans last week, and a few others within 50 miles. Hoping they’ll get some hatches in too. Production on the hatch started last week. But the numbers will be much lower, thanks to the chip shortage.

If you have a 10th Gen with the 1.5 turbo and happen to have the 6 sp. manual, you can really reduce the oil dilution by driving in a gear lower than normal at all times and keep at higher revs of at least 3000 RPM. The engine still gives good MPG even with the slightly higher revs. And it's not much louder engine noise or vibration either. On the highway, I don't even go to 6th gear, I leave her in 5th to get the higher revs. At 5th gear and interstate speeds the RPM is still about what my 2015 Honda Fit is in 6th gear, so it won't hurt a thing. I discover this oil dilution reduction on my own with experimentation. The higher revs make for a higher combustion temperature and therefore a higher cylinder head temperature (CHT). Since the oil circulates through the top end of the engine, this increases oil temperature everywhere and therefor drastically reduces the oil dilution issue. With very little fuel economy decrease, maybe less than 1 MPG or so. Very much worth it to make you 10th gen engine last longer. If you have a CVT tranny, you can't really control you speed versus RPM, so too bad. So glad I have the manual!!
@tinetannies46372 жыл бұрын
If this trim bothers you consider the Mazda3 with a naturally aspirated 2.5L and 6 speed auto. If you're going for longevity I'd avoid the AWD unless you live in an area with heavy snow and ice.

9:30 That's a Mary Kay Cosmetics Cadillac. That means that woman is a top seller once you get a Cadillac, and they're always painted Mary Kay pink right from the factory. Also, the point to the 2.0 non-turbo engine was to make a cheaper entry-level version, but mostly, because Honda's ratings were suffering from the issues the 1.5 turbo was having, and it was tarnishing the Civic name, so their venerable two liter engine, which sells in high quantities, brought its rating back up. When the last gen Civic launched, the only engine available was the 1.5 turbo. Only later did they add the Civic Sport that came with nice wheels and the wheezy 2.0 engine. It was good-looking, and cheap and sold in droves.

I believe the white is a pearl paint, but even the metallic colors look like pearl paints in different light. The Previous Civic Sport Hatchback in while looked more like Storm Troopers, and the all black like Darth Vader. For enthusiasts young and old I am only interested in the Sport and Touring, but plan to get the Sport Touring Hatchback in Boost Blue Pearl and the black interior. The previous Civic ridevis more sporty, and new one more refined, but the LX and EX does not have the sport tuned suspension and 18" wheels/tires is said to be even more tuned for performance handling. Though Toyota and Honda have among the most reliable cars and CVTs, the 2.0L N/A engine is a good fit fir the lower trim levels with adequate power and response, with more longevity, reliability, durability and dependability that the GDI Turbo 1.5L. The more powerful engine makes a distinction between the lowe trims, with both engines having an option with more sporty appearance and handling. But, it's good that the Hatchback has the 6 speed manual available on the Sport and Sport Touring Trims for those that want it.

People's main point against the Turbo and 1.5l is the issue of oil dilution, and wear/tear on the engine. Many seasoned mechanics and engineers have stated that they believe a 1.5l engine is to small for a turbo and cannot handle the pressure that a turbo puts on the engine. This leads to premature wear/tear and oil dilution. I know what some people will say, that Honda fixed the oil dilution and I can only speak from my experience that it is not true. I can smell the gas in my oil and yes I do let the car warm up, and I drive mostly highway (not start and stops). You can find numerous other people mentioning the same things online.

For anyone curious.... 0-60mph in the EX with the turbo, 8.2 seconds. Not bad. But almost all of its direct competitors (4-door Compact class + Price segment) can do better. Reliability? Only one competitor can keep up with that. And, we all know which one that is. Ironically, I do like the fact that you don't have those silly looking Boy-racer paddle shifters that almost all of its competitors have when it comes to CVT automatic transmissions. If you want Sporty with an automatic, look elsewhere. If you want a very reliable vehicle with restrained good looks, and a *decently* powerful engine. Honda Civic EX trim might be your best bet. (To be completely honest, I do think it's ridiculous that you don't get fog lights at this price point.)
@garytryan Жыл бұрын
Then 0-60 measure everyone uses is just so dumb. The car is plenty fast, lot of torque. More strong than speedy. CVT works fine. If. you're going for pure performance, choose the Mazda 3. If you want a car you can actually use the back seat, the Civic. I agree with the review, as an every day driver, Honda has killed it. And that it takes 8.2 seconds to reach 60 means nothing in that regard. (I've seen faster speeds than 8.2, but it doesn't matter).

Which I think is the best thing ever put in a car. My 2015 also has the Lane Watch camera and I totally love lane watch. They are going with the new tech sensors that are unreliable and they have to give a huge disclaimer about all of those new safety sensors and say "you still have to drive carefully and not depend on them", yada, yada, blah, blah. Well, if that's the case why put them in in the first place? I hear the lane keeper warning sensors can try to stop you from legitimately changing lanes!! They reduced the trunk space to 14.8 sq ft from 15.1. The infotainment screen prevents smartphone attachments from clipping to the vent or attaching to the dash. The glove compartment is much smaller. The driver armrest compartment is smaller with no more third deep cup holder. Bottom line: if you’re buying a Civic for the first time, it’s fine. They have more knowledge than 99.99% of people who watch this youtube video or make fun of them. If you take care of your engine, it will last longer than you need the car for. Buy the car with turbo and in 3-5 years, trade in for a new car. Simple. Unless you plan on putting up to 200,000 miles on this car, you shouldn't have a problem

Why didn't you mention the oil dilution problems with the turbo? The direct injection is also problematic too. Buildup os deposits. Turbos don't last as long. THESE ARE IMPORTANT

The problem is that in reality for the manual, the two engines are equal in a way because yes the 1.5 pulls harder, but the rev hang is so unbelievably awful that by that point you'd be overtaken by the 2.0 since you can shift gears when you want.

No the 1.5 turbo gets oil diluted. There’s many warranty claims for those 1.5 liter engines. They blow up!! Honda down graded from the k24 to these little 1.5 liters. You got more car for your money back with the ninth gen civic. If Honda would put a better engine in there current platform I would be interested. You have to spend 50 k for a decent platform with the R. Suck a shame!! I would choose the 2.0 vs the 1.5 turbo for reliability alone!!
