@@hxhabe5795 as you should... tbh the oem pistons/rings in k series engine burn oil if you don't break them in... HARD. mostly on the k20a2, if the owner didnt trash it off the rev limiter a few times during break in, they would burn oil every time at those high rpm's for the rest of the life of the engine. One day I want to understand why the hell that is, but it's absolutely real. Good luck with your si! Throw a bigger turbo on it after break in :)

The Si has had about the same power since 2006 (it now has more torque). It used to have a few more horsepower but was detuned or something for whatever reason - pretty embarrassing. The only thing going for it is that it's cheaper than it's rivals and can fit more luggage/people actually by a substantial amount

One shopping for an Si who wants a real rear seat and comfort, space would not purchase a 86. And one who just would want a coupe would purchase the 86 as it’s more sporty. Miata vs 86 is a better comparison. But none the less this was fun to see. Very entertaining to watch! Loved this comparison (even if we all know straight line speed isnt what either of these cars are about). They are actually the 2 cars I'm cross shopping at the moment, I used to have a 14 Si and loved it. I was a little disappointed to hear that peak power on the new Si was even lower than my 9th gen Si, but all the glowing reviews about the shifter keep this car on my shortlist. On the other hand the GR86 sounds like such a special car, and since it'll likely be my last ICE car that I'll keep for an insanely long time itd be nice to have something little more special than a Civic. If I had the money Id probably dump it on the upcoming Type-R but thats a little too much of a stretch haha.

It’s not fast but way faster than average traffic. I never really liked the look of older civics but I think this new one is really clean and the interior is very premium. Guys, don’t miss on the opportunity of buying a naturally-aspirated, manual & RWD car. That’s a freaking awesome package that is very rare and going to be even more difficult to find, and a bargain at Civic Si’s prices. The Veloster is nice but nothing more than your usual, everyday little FWD turbo car, just like everything else and much less fun to live with and, especially, to drive fast.

@@Juvahh see everybody I talk to says it is an extremely fun car to drive, and its quick af. The new gr86 premium is for second slower around Virginia International Raceway than the 2019 veloster n. The other thing to remember is that the Hyundai comes with 3 times the warranty. There's also the Practical aspect of if I buy the gr86, I'll probably have to keep my Fiesta also because I sometimes need the haul things, and yes there's a lot more space in the back of a Fiesta ST than the gr86. If I get the N, theres 17k I can put down, because my six-year-old Fiesta is now worth 3 grand less than it was when I bought it new... insane. But really I don't want to get rid of my Fiesta, it's such a fun car.... I just feel like I need to get something else before the government gets their EV wet dream.

I just bought a new refreshed 2025 Civic Si a couple weeks ago. That was after I heavily considered buying a new GR86 over the summer, and which I test drove a few times. I ended up with the Si because it was the better choice for a daily driver for me. Cheaper to buy (compared to the GR86 Premium, which is what I would have bought), cheaper to run due to much better fuel economy (which is a big difference when you're driving 20k+ miles per year like me), and far more practical being a sedan with a usable rear seat and a good sized trunk. It helps that Honda added heated seats, the fully digital gauge cluster and shift lights, and made improvements to the chassis and ride quality. And despite not being fast, it's quick enough for me. The Si has a better, more forgiving ride, and doesn't feel as small nor as dark inside as the GR86, due to the Honda having more and larger windows and a moonroof. Body roll is minimal, as is understeer. I also went with the Si because I like using my car for trips with my wife, as opposed to taking her SUV, which I hate driving. Two other reasons, though they weren't huge factors, were the factory stereo and FWD vs. RWD. Say what you will about Bose speakers, but they sound immensely better than the factory system in the GR86. The GR86 has a very noisy cabin, and the factory speakers are not going to overcome that and still sound good. I didn't want to buy the Toyota and immediately have to upgrade its speakers. I would rather have a RWD car (or AWD but rear-wheel biased) than a FWD car. But with the Toyota I'd have had to buy a set of winter wheels and tires, and swap them for the OEMs a couple times annually, which is what I did with my ND1 Miata for 4 years. Doable, of course, but it's nice not to have to do that. Nothing replicates the feeling of RWD, but the Si's suspension does a nice job for a FWD car in my opinion. All that being said, the GR86 is still a great sports car for a daily driver. Its NA boxer engine is a treat and it looks amazing. I'm sure I'd have been happy with it had I bought one. The Si was just the better choice for me.
