2022 Honda GL 1800 Gold Wing Bagger | The Most Comfortable Motorcycle in The World?

The Goldwing is a different breed of motorcycle. Since the 70's this iconic Honda model gained lots of fans among the touring/cruising enthusiasts. With the bagger version the Japanese manufacturer is aiming big time for the U.S. market. We took it for a spin and it left us with the impression that this bike is a must have during a man's lifetime.

I have the DCT version and it’s great! Handles superbly and screen is as good as they say. I also own a 2009 Goldwing and the new one reminds me of the Pan European. The grab handles are poor but for £380 you can upgrade to the taller ones. The brakes are progressive and confidence inspiring. Acceleration in Sport mode is very aggressive, almost too much, but Tour mode is perfect. The panniers are small and beware the effect of a Tracker on the Stop/start system. Paint finish in the Matt blue looks very special. I’m averaging 50+mpg and I’m not dawdling.

I also have the DCT. I agree with the Sport mode and pannier comments. Mine stays in tour except when on gravel where I use rain. Works perfect. I never use the Start/Stop as it will just wear things out unnecessarily. My fuel consumption is worse than yours. I wish the fuel tank was bigger. The standard screen is too low but an easy fix.

50+ MPG with my DCT bagger as well. I find Sport mode way too touchy in the lower gears but useful on the highway in traffic at speed. I bought the DCT because I wanted reverse but not the top case. It really is a phenomenal feature that I've come to love with time.

I`ve always criticised GW Drivers until one day I went for a Test Drive. Since that day, I wouldn`t want to be without either the GW or the DCT. A lot of people made the same experience so don`t moan, ride

Quick update in March 2023. My 2022 GW DCT Non Tour stranded me 3 miles from home on Sunday following the engine mgt light coming on and a failure to restart. 4hrs later the RAC confirmed the battery was flat and not charging despite being on an Optimate charger permanently in the garage. Now back at dealership to all be fixed under warranty. Final thought, after 3 days on charger it did start this morning but in 3rd gear as wouldn't go into neutral.

The standard GW, does not have electronically controlled suspension. Only the tour version has it.

The Gold Wing is as close as a motorcycle gets to being a car. Costs as much as a car, 6 cyl engine, reverse gear, auto transmission, complete wind (and rain) protection, ergonomic seat, smooth ride, smart phone compatible, plenty of storage. It's only missing heat and AC.Why not just get a convertible?
