The Honda Gold Wing is easy to laugh at but when I rode this used Gold Wing, I found a bike that actually offers alot to the rider.

Wings are not just for old men we buy them because they run forever and are comfortable to ride for short or long distance plus they handle pretty good and run well not slow at all also very smooth these are just a few reasons I love my wing and no I'm not old I've just rode enough bikes to know what I like

I'll tell ya why someone would go with the wing over a Harley. The bike is far superior in every way. Comfort, storage, ride quality, audio, preload, gas mileage, handling, maintenance! I have an Ultra Classic sitting right next to my 07 GL1800. Ive had 4 HD's and two GW's. had a GL1500 and 4 months ago purchased a GL1800. Haven't touched my HD since. Prob will sell it.

Well said, somebody, will get their undies in a bind over the truth. They always do. The fact is, the Goldwing and Yamaha tourers are the most reliable out there. Consistently rated the top two for that. And I've ridden HDs too, even professionally as a police officer. Currently, I'm riding a 2007 Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe and I'm extremely happy with it having racked up 70k doing some touring and long day rides. I'm considering a used Wing as a second bike to help with the mileage duties and the fact it has a stereo.

Looks like a aftermarket windshield. The levers up front allows you to raise and lower the windshield. The second lever is for a vent to throw heat off the muffler for heat. Hydraulic brakes - not cable. Heat seats and grips are great. It's way faster than this loop and can carve the twisties. I ride an 08 and throw that around with my meet up group. Then split lanes on my 30 mile commute. When it's time for a 2 up trip - all the luggage and rack can pack you up like no problem.

103K miles - finally past the break in period! The only Goldwing with the cable clutch that I know of is the 2014/15 Valkyrie. I think. Years ago I did the blue ridge on my 2002 wing with my buddie on a Harley - not a fully dressed Harley mind you. After 5 hours I wanted to keep going. My buddie had to stop. Nothing wrong with the Harley - its just different bikes offer different kind of rides. Ideally I would like to add a naked street bike cause the wing is a bit of an elephant for just crusin around town.

I've got an 08 fully loaded with very low miles in pristine condition, I bought 16 months ago and love it. I still have an Electra Glide but you will find me on the Wing most of the time. The add-on speakers on each saddlebag is hideous on that bike. Who does that? On a side point... folks buy the GoldWing for comfort, reliability and crushing miles. At least that's why I snagged one.

The levers you did not know what they were for. Is for adjusting windshield up, and down. I think the whole bs misnomer of being an old man bike, is just that. Bs. I've wanted a goldwing since I first saw one in my 30s. I was finally able to buy one 3 years ago. Granted I'm 60 now, but I wanted one when I was young. I simply couldn't afford one back then. I'm 5ft 8, and at first I felt intimidated by the size, and weight of the bike. So the concept of it being an old man bike is a bit confusing to me. Consider that most people think of old men as weak, and frail, but they choose a bike that is nearly 900 pounds, with a seat height that admittedly puts you on your toes. This is not a bike for the weak and frail. This bike is seriously a beast. I have a 2010. I've driven from Florida to Texas and back on it, averaging 92 mphs most of the way. Never missed a lick.

I have had a 02 Road Glide and a 09 Ultra, but I bought a 2010 Wing level 4 because I was wanting to get away from the "old tech" that Harley was recycling into the new models over and over. Mine has 45k with ABS, AM/FM/Sat/CB, GPS, rev, Heated grips and seat, foot heaters, adjustable windshield, cruise and even an airbag. It is a fine motorcycle and cruises all day long without complaining. I have done some touring on it, and it does great. All that being said, I like riding a Harley better. I can't put my finger on way, but I just feel better and more at home on a Harley. If Harley could address the main problems everyone complains about, I would be back on a Harley.

Harley was more concerned about their image while Honda was perfecting the Goldwing. You have a 5th generation and it is still miles ahead of a new Harley. My friends have to wear earplugs with their HD. Nothing beats shaft drive while Harley is still using belt (not chain) drive from the 1910's. HD can also vibrate the fillings out of your teeth, while the Goldwing is so smooth you can balance a quarter on its side.

Had a 1997 Valkyrie back in the day. What a sweet ride. Goldwings are the king of the hill! Had a pretty big stroke a few years ago. Thought my biking days were over!🤬 I have ridden my whole life. Had a Cushman Scooter as a small boy, heck the Cushman was bigger than me! 😉 The stroke effected my balance, so I thought my biking days were over. Then I tried a 2021 F-3S Spyder and I’m back In the wind!!! No balance required!!! Mine has all the safety features, Tracksion control, Cruise control, stability control. ABS Breaks! This thing is like ridding a formula 1 race car on the street! What a blast! I was worried the power wouldn’t be enough, boy was I mistaken! 115 HP and 96 ft lbs! It’s a rocket! Rotax also makes motors for many applications. They make smaller vertical twins for BMW Motorcycles too. The cover says BMW but they are Rotax motors!😉 Dude, I had a TBR Headder exhaust that has 4.24 can extaust. Sounded like a cross between a small block Chevy and a Porsche in heat at WOT!!! Gold wings are awesome, as a kid I sold new and used bikes. Honda produces more engines than anybody period. I ran into a guy at an open house at the dealer and he showed me his OLD 1100 Goldwing 4 banger wing. It had over 200000 miles on her! He said he he speedo cable broke years before, so who knows how many miles it had.😉

Owning a 2012 Level 3 Goldwing, I can attest to the quality of the Goldwing. It never complains and 800 mile days are easy. My wife may beg to differ with 800 miles, but she tolerates 600 mile days easy. When it comes to mile munching nothing can touch it. However, with 100k plus miles, $6500 is steep, double the money and get one with 30-40k and newer.

Harley guys will argue that their bikes can go over 100K miles. But then they talk about modding the top end and the bottom end and new camshafts and new clutches and new oil pumps and new bearings and it goes on and on! They don't tell you about $1000 belt changes and busted cam chain tensioners (both spring and hydraulic). Or how they ditched it all for a 111" S&S motor and switched to chain drive and sprockets. Sheesh. On one hand, it's cool that you can choose between available cams for a 25yo engine. But you'll never have to on a Goldwing.
@starseeddeluxe
@starseeddeluxe 4 ай бұрын
Doing all those mods to a Harley, you can be absolutely certain that none of those Harley guys have ridden a stock Hayabusa. Because they are spending $20,000 or even $30,000 on their mods. If they rode a stock Hayabusa, the insane horsepower and torque and electric smoothness of the inline 4 cylinder with a counterbalancer, would make them instantly hate their 4.25 inch stroke air cooled V-Twin. This is why you need to own multiple motorcycles. Get both! Save your money and don't modify the amazing Harley engine, just enjoy it for what it is. To go fast, get a bike that has torque and speed, like a Hayabusa, or FJR1300, or Rocket III Triumph or Yamaha V-Max. I've heard stories of how a Harley rider rode a Hayabusa for the first time, and decided they had to go and buy a Hayabusa immediately, because of how much torque and smoothness a Hayabusa has compared to a Harley. Once you feel the fastest, best engine in the world on a motorcycle, it makes everything else feel dull in comparison. That's how a Goldwing is; simply the best highway driving motorcycle ever made.

It's supposed to have 42000 Mi on it and it's a 2002 triple black. Should treat me quite nicely. If it's anything like the last Honda I owned or my bmw, I do not use the clutch when I'm up shifting, the vast majority of the time. I like the sound of that bike. It actually sounds a little bit more throaty than most gold wings. Maybe I'll look into a muffler upgrade. Anything that unplugs the exhaust will help torque and horsepower. I don't know about the 1300. I borrowed a friend's ST100 for a weekend, a while back. I've got to say that it was objectively the best motorcycle "package" that I've ever ridden. In all honesty, I'm not much of a rider, but I can see how a good rider with plenty of experience could consign any number of tyres to a premature death on those things and show up a few lesser skilled sports bike riders in the process. They are a very under rated motorcycle that are easily hustled along at speeds well above what your average punter would believe possible.

The only thing that would stop me from buying a goldwing is heel toe shifter cuz the Honda engineers didn't put it on the motorcycle when they designed it and created it, I know people that was bagging on heel and toe shifters thinking they on a Harley and messed up the transmission and sold the bike, and this one with dynomat to keep the bass down from when they had woofers and the cut wires...

Wow just wow. You praised a 17 year old touring bike in good condition with over 100,000 miles on it while simultaneously bashing it for not making a sound YOU didn't like, the CD player ( which was a "thing" in 2007) and its "asthetics" . You reviewed a proven reliable horse without taking 5 minutes to figure out what all the control functions were BEFORE you rode it but was frustrated by the fact you didn't know what certain controls did AS you rode it ( make that make sense) The Honda Goldwing has NEVER been a "old man's" bike ( your words " I'm on a Goldwing right now its kinda funny" "if I couldn't ride ANYMORE I could see myself on a Goldwing, trike" ) it is the ORIGINAL touring bike king that by and large OLDER and more financially established riders can/could afford because wings were not cheap toys then as they are not now and ALL production motorcycles are just that, toys. . In 2007 at the age of 45 I purchased new that very same color and trim for a tad over $21,000 adjusted for inflation that has got to be about 32,000 bucks in TODAYS money...see what I mean? The unfair bias in you oozed all over that solid stallion before you even put the kick stand up and the godfather of Goldwings Mr Charlie Brown saw this post it would not end well for you. Now go piecemeal together a 2007 HD or Indian out the salvage bin and review it. Nuff said.

As the owner of 3 gold wings. You absolutely can have your knees in the wind. You just need to add pegs. On long trips it’s very nice to be able to stretch your legs. We don’t refer to them as a road couch. I miss my 2006.

I have ridden many HD's ,,, and others. I just got off a Victory Vision ,,, I bought an '02 Goldwing with 110 thousand miles. Put a new ECU in and tires. This is a very nice handling motorcycle ! ,,, The Victory was smooth ,,, but ,,, this is the best riding ,,, tons of smooth power and all the touring need . Very comfortable !

I'm so glad the globe is so brainwashed into buying Harleys. They spend megathousands modifying an inferior turn of the century tech bike. Whereas the rest of us can afford to buy and ride the greatest bagger of all time. The Honda Goldwing!! You boys can keep your cheap Chinese HD bikes. I'll take the ultimate highway bike over some crummy 2 banger any day😊😊

Not only is it the cheapest but its the finest motorcycle ever built and that includes every goldwing with a fairing ever made ... ... I have ridden them all and I settled on a 86 Goldwing Interstate in cosmo black ... its the finest of the finest motorcycle ever built IMO and blows by the harleys with ease ... get real dude

Lol...why would someone go with this over a Harley, it is obvious that you aren't very experienced with motorcycles! The smoothness of the ride, the calm manner of the ride, comfort, maintenance, price and it wheel out perform most H-D's out on the road and did I mention maintenance.... Btw...it has a hydraulic clutch!

The Japanese bikes (Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki) tend to be more reliable and have a greater longevity than that of any Harley Davidson bikes. The Japanese bikes tend to be cheaper to maintain than that of a Harley Davidson. It is like this "Harleys for the name and the Japanese bikes for the reliability, dependability and the longevity".

Yeah, that little black box on the left handlebar there, that’s the reservoir for the hydraulic clutch. And sheesh, this bike only has five gears and you don’t know what gear you’re in!? Are you one of those who need gear indicators and fuel gauges on their motorbikes? I guess I might be old now.

I w been riding for 2 months my first bike is a 2002 GW and after my endorsement class I immediately signed up for a local advanced class taught by the local Motorcycle Officers from the county. I really wanted a HD Street Glide but now after the class seeing how many troubles the HDs had 3 Cop Bikes went down and 2 personal HD had issues..I’m keeping my GW for bar hopping and buying a BMW GS for everyday riding. HD are awesome bikes but IMO they have a lot of work to do to catch up to Indian, BMW and even Honda… TY for the video

I test road a Goldwing and was surprised at how close my knees were to the front panel. It felt odd to not have my legs out, but I will give it another ride before I decide to purchase. I am 6'2" so I can only assume taller riders have issues with the leg room.

103k miles over 15+ years, I would not consider that a lot of miles. Maybe more than the average weekend rider, but not a lot for long distance riding that the Wing was designed for.

A lot of Americans I. The market for cruiser touring bikes buy Harley. That keeps the used prices down in the goldwing. I’ve never owned a Harley but I have ridden one. Definitely something about them makes you feel good. I’m a sport bike nut but as each year goes by I know I’m gravitating towards owning a gold wing. I’ve had a lot of sport bikes cbr600rr cbr1000rr hayabusa, zxr1400r

After getting out of the military I wanted to treat myself with a toy. Had a boat and bicycle. Neither did it for me. I rode motorcycle and I fell in love with it. Freedom! I got me a bank loan and bought a 2012 Goldwing with 103k 4.5 years ago. I paid $6,750. Fast forward today I logged in close to 50k. Odometer is close to 151k. Just short of 200 miles. My taking is that I don’t know anything or any saying about bmw or hd but goldwing has been very reliable until last week. My front wheel started to lockup and discovered master cylinder is in need of replacement. The speaker doesn’t work at the rear. Blinker switch is broken. The little hatch door on the back seat is very easy to accidentally kick and break it off. Other than that no issues. Oh and gas mileage is 35 mpg nowadays instead of 38 when I got it years ago. I hate air filter placement on this bike also and costly but overall it’s good. I’m planning to test ride a Harley Davidson 2017 fatboy. If it’s good I’ll probably get that one also.

Are you saying "cable clutch"? If so, I'll point out the clutch fluid cylinder on the left handlebar. Looks like it has a little over 100K. on it, so if it's had just reasonable care you should get at least 250K. from it. If you do any distance riding, you'll probably end up with a Corbin or other aftermarket seat. The stock seat is just crap. Your bike will perform much better with a set of stock pipes.

A 103,000 miles the Hondas just broke in, you’ll get many more if you maintain it. The only thing I will say about a Harley is they look nice and that’s it. If you want comfort , ride ,for cross country rides you won’t find a more comfortable bike. You won’t be disappointed buying a Gold Wing, just saying! 😊

The clutch is hydraulic not cable Had a 08, put 80k on it in ten years, could only ride during summer. We did 6k in three weeks for our 25 anniversary. I got up Monday morning and took it to work. There's a road in Tennessee, North Carolina called the Dragon tale, 318 curves in 11 miles, last I heard a wing holds the record for time and number of times on it, not a crotch rocket. Been on it few times. We pulled a Roll-a-home camper with it, no problem. Love the bike, looking forward to buying another.
