I just drove a Honda pioneer 1000 5 seater at Winchester bay Oregon for the first time and loved it. I have 2 boys that sat in the back and a 5 year old girl that sat up front with mom and dad. Fun for a family of 5. Now I want to buy one !!!!!!!!

I have had the 2022 Trail Honda for about 5 months. I am not a hardcore trail rider. Sometimes my two adult kids come too. for a ride that accommodates us comfortably, I haven't found anything to complain about, it has been dependable and fun to use. I will be adding the " camso" track system to get some winter use out of the unit. Review to follow.

Good review, and I add the remarks of the mechanics who have to work on them when they come in the shop. Even just accessories can get to be a nightmare on some brands and models.Since we work on all major brands we get a good cross section and see the path of doom some guys take. Their "macho" mods cause breakage and breakdowns all the time, and then complain about how much they paid for the machine and then the aftermarket parts. Get the right machine from the beginning and don't try to "mod" it to compete with the big boys. Who weighs the tires before an upgrade? How much can the electrical system handle? At what point does a lift throw off the angle of the axles? If you're a man, people will see that, and if you promote yourself as a man, people will see through that.

Nice review as always Steve. One thing I noticed is that on the high end models such as the Forest and Trail, Honda went back to traditional halogen reflector headlights instead of the LED projectors that the previous gen had. Seems like a step backwards.

Because texting and driving a car isn't stupid enough, let's do it on the trail, too! LOL. Much easier to install and use a radio (e.g., GMRS). We rarely use the rear seats - all but useless for more than a small amount of time unless you're hauling children or very small adults.

I love that this is a 5 seat machine that retains a dump bed. I also really like the looks In general, I'm getting sick of fixing my can am defender and thinking on switching but Hondas flag ship model only comes with 27" tires? No option to install anything larger becouse of low clearance and no foreward a arms? If Honda could put forward arms and 30" tires on the higher end pioneer model it would be a game changer and I would put my order in ASAP, also a fold down center council, these are industry standards they need to pick up on .
@bobbybarnes1652 Жыл бұрын
Which would increase the price of the higher end Pioneers by $3K to $4K or more. SIlly. Most don't want that, because most don't use a Pioneer for SERIOUS trail riding. Replacing A-Arms and tires & wheels is about as easy as loading a dishwasher. Takes me about 30 minutes per corner and basic hand tools.

Did you go through any deep water holes and if you did, did you notice any heat coming up through the seat? I have a 2016 and that is the only thing i don’t like about it. Otherwise it’s been a great, reliable machine and i trail ride it a lot.
@TheNotimprezed2 жыл бұрын
I actually think I saw a review awhile back that Honda altered some things with heat shields and insulation to reduce the heat problem. I think if you check some forums you can find the info and apply the changes to your 2016.

@@TheNotimprezed They put those plastic panels in under the seat and it looks like they will fit and work in mine, checked with a Honda dealer and they said they list all years and i don’t think they changed anything in that area so if they really help i’m going to order a set. @bobbybarnes1652 Жыл бұрын
Fox QS3 shocks for the win. Easy to R&R on any Pioneer that doesn't have them. Plus, you can add preload and gain significant ground clearance without a lift.

I'm between this and a CF Moto Uforce XL. I want to be able to take the whole family (wife, 3 kids). The CF Moto is about $7k cheaper but I like the Honda better with a shorter wheelbase and better clearance and breakover angles. Plus the Honda would probably be better for solo riding.
@ryanolep10782 жыл бұрын

The Pioneer 1000 does not compete with the RMAX. It competes with the Wolverine 850. This info comes right from my local Honda dealer.

Trail has the Fox QS3 adjustable shocks, a huge improvement over stock, non-adjustable cushions. However, you can get any other model and install the Fox QS3 shocks yourself for under $1,400. I didn't want the i4WD, so I went with the Deluxe and swapped the shocks (and installed offset forward A-Arms and larger tires @ wheels).

I wish Honda would come out with an extended bed version like the American Landmaster L7XL-Pro, not like the Polaris 6x6. Something made more for farming, hauling logs and such. Make it a Pioneer 1000 with a 5-6 ft bed, geared lower for work load etc.

Always glad to see another major Brand trying to take on John Deere and Kubota but this is no small matter in the UTV market...a market Tesla only now is entering. This is a massive market though with potential demand very large being an understatement...but at this price the need for Utility will be quite incredible indeed. Brand Loyalty in this Sector is dispositive.

The Pioneer isn't an attempt to take on John Deere or Kubota. Those are pure utility vehicles. None of them can do what the P1K does on the trails, but the P1K can do a bunch of what they do on the farm or ranch.
