For anyone using this as a guide for a 2023 Kona - the drain plug on mine was 17mm and the filter canister used a 5/16th hex wrench for the drain plug underneath. The the big hex bolt around that is 27mm, not 25mm. It was over-torqued on mine so an electric socket wrench might be a good idea to have just in case, but it’s plastic so you’ll want to be careful!

All it takes is some measuring.

Did you have a spring in the oil filter or the filter housing?

i think may have stripped the bolt you unscrew before unscrewing the 27mm bolt, do you have to remove the first part in order to remove the housing?

Manual says every 7500 miles, i do all my vehicles every 5000 miles for oil is cheaper than engine sludge build up. Oil filter cartridge torque is 18-22 ftlbs and oil drain plug is @ 30 ftlbs. I use 0W20 FS supertech oil from walmart (Warren oil) which they have been around for a long time ($18 for 5 qt), same oil as sams club brand. Only bad oil is a dirty oil.

Man I'm sorry but please don't ever change your oil again. You don't dremel out a socket if it doesn't fit you need to try a bigger size. Also never use an impact on a plastic piece use a breaker bar. I hope you don't "mechanic" anything else 😂!
